For this distribution infinite series representations for the joint probability density function, the cumulative distribution function (CDF) and the moments are derived. Two special correlation cases of the distribution are studied: the exponential and the constant. These series representations are readily applicable to the performance analysis of a 3-branch selection combining (SC) receiver operating in a Weibull correlation fading environment and the outage probability is derived. The proposed mathematical analysis is complemented by various numerical results, showing the effects of fading severity, correlation and the power decay factor","PeriodicalId":335831,"journal":{"name":"2006 International Workshop on Satellite and Space Communications","volume":"36 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113971028","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Radon transform is chosen in the OFDM structure to serve as a data mapper instead of the conventional data mapping techniques like the phase shift keying (PSK) mapping, in a way that ensure increasing the orthogonality of the system. The Fourier domain approach is found here to be the more suitable way for obtaining the forward and the inverse of the Radon transform. It is shown that this new application increases the orthogonality significantly due to the use of the inverse Fourier transform twice, namely, in the data mapping and in the sub-carrier modulation also, due to the use of an efficient criterion in determining the mapped data, which is called the optimal ordering criterion","PeriodicalId":335831,"journal":{"name":"2006 International Workshop on Satellite and Space Communications","volume":"535 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123844159","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two algorithms intervene in this mechanism, namely the bandwidth allocation algorithm and the bandwidth request algorithm. In this paper a bandwidth request algorithm is proposed. An adaptive version of the algorithm is also presented, which allows for an easy control of the queue size at the terminal even in changing traffic conditions. An event-driven simulator of the BoD loop has been developed and used to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm. Simulations have carried out for different combinations of Poisson and VoIP traffic. They show that the algorithm reacts correctly to sudden changes of the input rate and of the received allocation","PeriodicalId":335831,"journal":{"name":"2006 International Workshop on Satellite and Space Communications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129146842","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By means of a convenient expression for the bivariate Weibull distribution, the probability density function (PDF) of the SSC output signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is derived in terms of the first order Marcum's Q-function. The moments of the output SNR and the corresponding cumulative distribution function (CDF) are also obtained in closed form and are utilized to derive expressions for the average output SNR, amount of fading and outage probability. By using a rapidly convergent infinite series representation for the bivariate Weibull distribution, an analytical expression for the moments generating function (MGF) is derived. The MGF can be efficiently used to evaluate the average bit error probability (ABEP) for several modulation schemes. In particular, a IM technique that jointly exploits space, time, and frequency (STF) domains is investigated, extending the approach presented for conventional BPSK DS-SS systems to the representative Galileo L1-band scenario. The proposed technique attempts to remove the undesired signal by projecting the received signal into the subspace orthogonal to the interference subspace, which is designed based on the estimation of the interference signature in space, time, and frequency. The robustness of the proposed technique against practical estimation errors, which can affect both interfering angle of arrival and instantaneous frequency, is investigated in detail in the paper, proving the validity of the technique in realistic scenarios and showing interesting trade-offs","PeriodicalId":335831,"journal":{"name":"2006 International Workshop on Satellite and Space Communications","volume":"28 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124436403","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
