This converter can operate into a capacitor-diode voltage multiplier, which offers simpler structure and control, higher efficiency, reduced EMI, size and weight savings than traditional switched-mode regulated voltage multipliers. Two significant advantages are the continuous input current and easy isolation extension. The new converter is experimentally verified. Both the steady state and dynamic theoretical models are correlated well with the experimental data.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":335367,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 1995 IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition - APEC'95","volume":"124 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1995-03-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132295292","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The work is motivated by the need of an efficient and flexible modulation method, which is optimized with respect to minimum machine torque ripple. The modulation strategy is named Space Vector Modulation for Four Switch Inverter (SVMFSI) and is realized by planning the switching patterns between four active voltage vectors on the basis of a desired flux trajectory for the stator flux vector in the AC-machine (variable speed induction motor drive). The strategy is implemented in a single 8-bit microcontroller as a double sided modulation strategy. Simulations of the motor torque ripple are performed at a switching frequency of 4 kHz and indicate a torque ripple of 14% at nominal load. Finally, selected results are verified experimentally on a 1.5 kVA prototype B4 inverter. The test results indicate high quality output voltage spectra with no low-order voltage harmonics and a harmonic loss factor (HLF) of 1.12% at unity modulation index.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":335367,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 1995 IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition - APEC'95","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1995-03-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134065698","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A single phase SPS utilizing a high frequency AC link is studied. Use of a high frequency transformer results in a compact and light weight system. Energy loss introduced in the system due to the high frequency AC link is analyzed. Design of the control circuit, to obtain a sinusoidal output voltage with linear and nonlinear loads, is explained. The SPS is used as an active filter to obtain sinusoidal line current under normal conditions of the utility.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":335367,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 1995 IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition - APEC'95","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1995-03-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123166064","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An effective method to take advantage of the harmful parasitic resonant circuit parameters of the high-voltage high-frequency transformers which are used in three typical resonant tank circuit topologies and their output voltage performances in both the steady and dynamic-states are comparatively discussed. The dynamic and steady-state characteristics of these resonant power converters are evaluated on the basis of computer simulation results under the conditions of wide allowable load ranges used in actual X-ray high-voltage DC power generators.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":335367,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 1995 IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition - APEC'95","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1995-03-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122793979","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
