It derives the mathematical expression of spectral efficiency by means of stochastic geometry for secondary receivers present in the network in active mode. The numerical result highlights a rise in the efficiency by 20.7% for an increase of 1 dBm in transmit power at a power splitting ratio of 0.5.","PeriodicalId":334012,"journal":{"name":"EAI Endorsed Trans. To provide position information for these services, location is a key process. The creation of systems for solving problems of positioning and navigation inside buildings is a very perspective, actual and complicated task, especially in a multi-floor environment. To improve the accuracy of indoor positioning for location-based services, we created an improved WiFi/PDR (Pedestrian Dead Reckoning) integrated positioning and navigation system where we are using Extended Kalman filter (EKF). The proposed algorithm first relies on MEMS in our mobile phone to estimate the velocity and heading angles of the target. Second, the velocity and heading angles, together with the results of WiFi fingerprinting-based positioning, are considered as the input of the EKF for the sake of conducting two-dimensional (2D) positioning. Third, the proposed algorithm calculates the altitude of the target by using the real-time recorded barometer and geographic data. Tests were conducted on two floors of the building to achieve three-dimensional (3D) positioning in multi-floor environment using proposed integrated WiFi/PDR positioning algorithm. The results of our experiments show that integrated navigation system using Extended Kalman filter can effectively eliminate the accumulated errors in the PDR positioning algorithm and can reduce the influence of the large-scale jump of the WiFi fingerprint positioning result brought by the RSSI disturbance on the positioning accuracy of the system. In a real multi-floor environment, the proposed algorithm of WiFi/PDR integrated system has a mean error of positioning accuracy is 1.6m, which is much less than the 10m of the WiFi alone positioning result, and the 2m of the PDR alone positioning result.","PeriodicalId":334012,"journal":{"name":"EAI Endorsed Trans. This article will discuss how natural disasters cause horizontal agrarian conflicts. The question that will be answered is how the tsunami caused the agrarian conflicts among the people? How such agrarian conflicts affect the reconstruction effort of after tsunami which is a series of disaster mitigation. This article uses a literature review consisting of research reports, scientific journal articles, and media reports on the impact of the 2004 Aceh tsunami. Study results and media reports suggest that the tsunami disaster resulted in the loss of boundaries of community-controlled land and this causes land disputes among neighbors that influences reconstruction efforts undertaken by governments and NGOs. However, local wisdom on conflict mitigation contributes to the settlement of land conflicts and this has contributed to post-tsunami reconstruction efforts in Aceh. With that this article contributes to the development of knowledge on disaster mitigation.","PeriodicalId":334012,"journal":{"name":"EAI Endorsed Trans. Cogn. The spectral efficiency and the applicable environment of TDCS are different from NC-OFDM. The simulation results show that NC-OFDM can obtain the higher spectral efficiency and the required SINR is higher, and TDCS can work well in lower SINR environment with different spreading factor. When there is little spectrum hole, spread spectrum is a better choice. There is no threshold of some parameter which can make decision. The proposed HD takes advantage of the energy detection (ED) and a method based on the Covariance Absolute Value (CAV) or Cyclic Autocorrelation Function (CAF). The paper characterizes the limitations of the use of ED resulting from the uncertainty of spectral density of noise power estimation known as ‘SNR Wall’. The paper describes the system model and presents the simulation results for OFDM signal (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) of WiMAX system. These antennas consist of a rectangular shaped structure printed over FR4 substrate. The antenna occupies a small volume of 70x54x1.6mm. A 50-Ohm strip line was used to feed the proposed antennas. For miniaturization purposes, an Ishaped slot was inserted in the appropriate location on the radiator resulting in the second version (antenna with I-shaped slot). The integration of the slot helped towards shifting the resonant frequency downwards, which potentially created an additional resonant frequency to cover the WLAN2400MHz, but this resonant frequency is still static in nature. Thus, tuning mechanisms were introduced to tune the resonant frequency over a wide continuous frequency range. A lumped capacitor was firstly used as the tuning approach, in which its capacitance was varied from 0.5pF to 3pF , covering the frequency range from 2300MHz to 1500MHz. Secondly, the varactor diode was exploited to verify this; by changing the bias voltage across the varactor from 0.21V to 12.9V, the antenna operates over the targeted range from 1500MHz to 2300MHz. Both the simulated and measured results show a stable performance. The proposed antenna may be suitable for future cognitive radio system.","PeriodicalId":334012,"journal":{"name":"EAI Endorsed Trans. Cogn. Furthermore, we compare the random multi-channel access with a cognitive radio system in which the users are able to minimize the channels occupancy. Besides, we show that the sampling rate can be reduced under the Nyquist rate if the use of the spectrum resource is known at the gateway side. This scenario is referred as \"cognitive radio\" context. The mathematical developments and results are illustrated through various simulations results. In this paper, we consider a Cognitive Radio (CR) system with large number of antennas (eg. Massive MIMO) and we provide an accurate and simple closed form approximation for the SCN distribution using the generalized extreme value (GEV) distribution. The approximation framework is based on the moment-matching method where the expressions of the moments are approximated using bi-variate Taylor expansion and results from random matrix theory. In addition, the performance probabilities and the decision threshold are considered. Since the number of antennas and/or the number of samples used in the sensing process may frequently change, this paper provides simple form decision threshold and performance probabilities offering dynamic and real-time computations. Simulation results show that the provided approximations are tightly matched to relative empirical ones.
