It carries scientific instruments sensitive over a wide spectrum of wavelengths covering Visible, Ultra Violet, Soft X-rays and Hard X-rays over an energy band of 2–100keV. It accommodates five payloads to perform the task. Scanning Sky monitor (SSM) is one of the payloads designed to measure the soft X-rays over a band of 2–10keV for transient events. Electrical integration of SSM payload poses huge challenges in the form of design and implementation of electrical distribution system for rotating mechanism, grounding of electronics packages on Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) platform, problems faced during the testing in dis-assembled mode and measures taken to overcome the same. This paper discusses the above mentioned aspects from the perspective of electrical integration and testing.","PeriodicalId":333702,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on ElectroMagnetic Interference & Compatibility (INCEMIC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116275117","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The synthesis is usually carried out by controlling amplitude and phase levels (or) element spacing functions of the array. Although, uniform linear arrays cost effective in terms of sources it is not preferred due to high presence of high first side lobe levels. For point to the point communications, and high angular resolutions radars, it is essential to generate low side lobe narrow beams. In view of these facts, a linear array is considered in the present work and it is optimally designed using CSA & APSO algorithms. The desired amplitude levels are evaluated using the algorithm with element spacing d=0.50. The main objective of this work is to minimize the sidelobe level with a constraint on beam width.","PeriodicalId":333702,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on ElectroMagnetic Interference & Compatibility (INCEMIC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131766759","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are situations where the equipment or the internal circuitry cannot be earthed and only certain parts of the equipment mandates the earth connection. Few examples are pressure sensor mounted on gas pipelines, RTD probe mounted on furnaces etc… In a particular case different methods were tried including filters, ferrites and protection devices, and finally the problem is solved with the help of bypass capacitor. This paper explains how the analysis is performed and how reached at the solution.","PeriodicalId":333702,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on ElectroMagnetic Interference & Compatibility (INCEMIC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123322893","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Corona inception voltage is very important in order to inhibit the increase of electric field as the lower the inception voltage of corona discharge, the greater the effect of inhibiting the increase of electric field. In this paper, the corona inception voltage of a conventional air terminal and 4 types of BCATs are tested with applying DC high-voltage. The test results indicate that the corona inception voltage of the conventional air terminal (Sample 1) was the lowest. In case of the 2 models of BCAT (Samples 2 and 3), corona discharge occurs at 80kV while at the latest models of BCATs (Samples 4 and 5) showed, corona discharge occurring at 70kV and 45kV, respectively. It is verified that lower corona inception voltage of the BCAT can be achieved by modification of the structure and shape of the BCAT to increase the effect of the corona shield. Based on this test result, development of optimal shape of the BCAT is expected to be viable when a corona discharge simulation model for the BCAT is established. As it is difficult to conduct outdoor field tests for the irregular characteristic of lightning occurrence, it is necessary to develop a test method to verify the maximum performance of an air terminal. Because outdoor testing of lightning rods is difficult, the development of outdoor testing method for the lightning rod will also be needed.","PeriodicalId":333702,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on ElectroMagnetic Interference & Compatibility (INCEMIC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134357396","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They are constantly being exposed to radiations present in the environment which leads to the malfunctioning in their operation. To reduce the effects of the radiation, devices need to undergo Radiated Immunity testing. Music Infotainment System, which is commonly used in our vehicles, has been taken as the model for testing. This Paper gives the basic idea regarding the Radiated Immunity test conducted at ARAI, Pune. This Music Infotainment System has been tested for Radiated Immunity with and without Aluminium Enclosure. The Aluminium enclosure having a thickness of 1mm and dimensions 290 × 190 × 120 mm was tested in the EMI chambers where it was exposed to the radiation level 30 V/m as per Automotive Standard AIS 004: Part 3 for frequency range 200 MHz–2 GHz. Observations were made for any malfunctioning in the operation of the system like distorted audio and any possible effect on display.","PeriodicalId":333702,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on ElectroMagnetic Interference & Compatibility (INCEMIC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122324756","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to their improved characteristics linear arrays where the elements are distributed uniformly are thoroughly investigated by different authors. However, non-uniform arrays are not well focused so far. In view of these facts intensive studies are carried out to generate sector beams using non-uniformly spaced arrays. Focus is made to thin the arrays to produce optimized patterns. The concept of thinning leads to the design of arrays economically. The computed radiation patterns for small and large arrays are presented in u domain.","PeriodicalId":333702,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on ElectroMagnetic Interference & Compatibility (INCEMIC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130144949","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A Semiconductor sample inserted between the thin metal diaphragm and wide wall of the waveguide. This sample is considered as a prototype of the sensing element (SE) of the resistive sensor (RS). The performance of SE is based on electron heating effect of the semiconductor. As the electric fields of the high-power microwave (HPM) pulse heats electrons in the sample, its resistance changes and by measuring the resistance change the power of the HPM pulse in the waveguide is determined. RS gives flat frequency response for HPM pulse measurements in 8.2–12.2 GHz frequency band. The results are simulated using Computer Simulation Technology.","PeriodicalId":333702,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on ElectroMagnetic Interference & Compatibility (INCEMIC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120834020","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The emission from RF cables plays a high role between one system and another in the EMI measurement environment. It's one of the most polluting sources to control radiated emission during measurements. If the center conductors of cables come with shielded, this provides the uniform transfer impedance throughout length of cable. The variation in the transfer impedance will make a significant change in the radiated emission measurement. (i.e. it depends on the shield cables single or double around the conductors). Due to this the leakage current flowing through shield becomes large value to induce the magnetic field along the cable. Thus transfer resistance is as much as lowered to create a low impedance path for grounding the leakage current. When a field exists strongly along a cable and it travels through space as the radiated emission. This experiment is carried out to analyse and observe very low transfer impedance for parallel shielding around the conductor. Any combination of resistances in parallel diminishes the equivalent resistance. Hence, under this approach it has been tried to see an increased susceptible in the RF cables which offers the better compliance results of an EMI suppression. The transfer impedance characteristics of the single shield and or double shield around the conductors have been measured and the results of measurements are tabulated for analysis. For conducting the measurements the standard BS EN 50289-1-6-2002 is followed. The conclusion of this experimental result analysis helps to realize better shielded in RF cables harness.","PeriodicalId":333702,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on ElectroMagnetic Interference & Compatibility (INCEMIC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115843778","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Generally electromagnetic coupling occurs between a magnetic recording head and read/write driver on hard disk drive interconnects (HDDIs). In this paper, a novel decoupling and crosstalk reduction structure is proposed. The stubby microstrip lines are proposed for multi-gigabit/second parallel links on a hard disk drive interconnects. The performance of the proposed structure is studied in terms of scattering parameters of coupling and reflection which are obtained with the assistance of Ansoft HFSS simulation tool. The simulation results show that the proposed interconnect structure reduces near end crosstalk by 3 dB and far end crosstalk by 6 dB than conventional grooving scheme. Thus, the proposed stubby microstrip lines have strengthened the immunity of the interconnects in the high speed hard disk drive.","PeriodicalId":333702,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on ElectroMagnetic Interference & Compatibility (INCEMIC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124265568","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
