The IC (Integrated Circuit) Card Ticket System has been developed in order to improve the passengers' satisfaction and to reduce the maintenance costs. However, high performance on wireless communications lowers reliability due to the passengers' behaviors. The Autonomous Decentralized Architecture has been implemented as a solution. This paper introduces the \"Autonomous Decentralized Data Consistency Technology\" for high reliability and evaluates the effectiveness by the functional reliability. The results show the functional reliability is depends on the number of the application of this technology and that the decentralized models are, under particular conditions, competitive to the centralized one. These conditions are made use of the practical \"Suica\" system at East Japan Railway Company and the system is running satisfactory, without any fatal errors.","PeriodicalId":333505,"journal":{"name":"26th IEEE International Conference on Distributed Computing Systems Workshops (ICDCSW'06)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134135504","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, continuous services, e.g., multimedia streaming, should not experience any interruption while clients roam between different wireless access localities during service provisioning. The paper describes how to exploit the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) to build a middleware for session continuity, also by integrating with our novel context-aware SIP notification package. In particular, the proposed middleware makes use of SIP notifications to update session information and to proactively activate session reconfiguration for roaming clients. Experimental results show that, notwithstanding the portable Java-based implementation, our SIP-based solution is feasible in most common wireless Internet deployment scenarios and achieves good scalability.","PeriodicalId":333505,"journal":{"name":"26th IEEE International Conference on Distributed Computing Systems Workshops (ICDCSW'06)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114409750","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research addresses problems of heterogeneity and scalability of sharing databases in P2P networks. Fine-grained access to users’ databases is provided through schema matching and a super-peer topology. The schema matching component allows information to be translated across heterogeneous databases by semi-automatically determining the mappings between the databases within the P2P network. The super-peer topology provides a suitable environment for the schema matching and query processing.","PeriodicalId":333505,"journal":{"name":"26th IEEE International Conference on Distributed Computing Systems Workshops (ICDCSW'06)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125916473","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are possibilities of wiring errors in the improvement of the interlocking device. A signal control system using an optical LAN is developed for the purpose of reduction of signal cables and wiring work. This system controls signal devices by transmitting digital information through an optical network, and it has a method of system configuration to make the system more flexible and secure. To introduce this system effectively, an application of assurance technologies is necessary because this system coexists with the existent interlocking device over the period of construction and operation. In this paper, we introduce this system and describe assurance technologies used for this system.","PeriodicalId":333505,"journal":{"name":"26th IEEE International Conference on Distributed Computing Systems Workshops (ICDCSW'06)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121304772","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we introduce a large scale distributed resident-oriented safety information system constructed over Japan Gigabit Network. The safety information with residents is registered to the local database in the evacuated area and integrated into an upper-layer database in the district area. Those local databases are mutually covered when the some of the databases are destroyed or disordered. On the other hand, the upper-layer databases are located to mutually different locations with long distance to isolate the influence to the same disaster and also mutually mirrored to support when the some of them are out of order. Thus, by introducing two levels of redundancy and backup functions, more large scale and robust safety information database system can be realized. In this paper, we designed and implemented a prototype system by our introduced method over Japan Gigabit Network to evaluate whether our suggested method is useful or not. Through the functional and performance evaluation, we could verified our suggested resident information system is effective and useful.","PeriodicalId":333505,"journal":{"name":"26th IEEE International Conference on Distributed Computing Systems Workshops (ICDCSW'06)","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123767211","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The effective determination of k-hop clusters in MANET is crucial to efficiently support many relevant tasks, e.g., packet routing, and has recently started to be investigated. The paper claims that the assumption of dense MANET permits to propose novel k-hop clustering solutions that outperform existing ones in terms of both effectiveness and limited overhead. In particular, the paper presents an innovative k-clustering protocol, based on circle covering, and quantitatively evaluates its performance when adopting different decentralized heuristics. The proposed protocol, coupled with original heuristics considering the positions of neighbor cluster-heads, has demonstrated to achieve better performance than other solutions in the literature with a significantly lower message overhead.","PeriodicalId":333505,"journal":{"name":"26th IEEE International Conference on Distributed Computing Systems Workshops (ICDCSW'06)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127848778","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
