SIP supports the services where participation of multiple users is involved. The centralized conferencing framework limits the ability to have large number of participants because of the overhead on the server. In this paper, an efficient solution for enhancing the capability of the system to handle multiple requests at a time is provided by presenting a queueing model for SIP message aggregation at the edge-proxies. This queueing system is analysed as a vacation queue with batch arrival and batch service to describe the arrival and processing of bulk SIP messages. The steady-state results for QoS-aware SIP signaling system are obtained from the queueing model. Further these results are verified using NS-2 simulation. In addition, the optimal value of the timer and threshold values that dynamically controls the SIP message queue associated with QoS constraints are obtained using numerical optimization technique.","PeriodicalId":333503,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Advanced Networks and Telecommuncations Systems (ANTS)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115372430","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we investigate the problems of secondary users' network lifetime maximization and interference to primary user (PU) minimization jointly in BER constrained stationary cognitive radio ad hoc networks. To solve the problem a cross layer approach is adopted. First, minimum total interference (MTI) and maximum network lifetime (MNL) problems are studied separately as joint power allocation and routing problems. Next, closed form expression for a hybrid-MNL-MTI power allocation approach is proposed followed by a new hybrid routing metric. We also present implementation issues related to the proposed hybrid routing and power allocation scheme. Simulation results show that our proposed hybrid approach succeeds in extending network lifetime and controlling interference to PU simultaneously in a significant manner.","PeriodicalId":333503,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Advanced Networks and Telecommuncations Systems (ANTS)","volume":"227 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114654597","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The cost of the network infrastructure is increasing, which leads to an \"end of profit\" within next few years. Thus, mobile operators require a new technology that allows increasing the network capacity within low network costs. Therefore, using caching is the most evident solution to be used in their backhaul networks. However, the current architecture of LTE network does not provide sufficient flexibility to place the caches in the most optimal locations. The current work on Software-Defined Networking in Evolved Packet Core virtualization has enabled us to integrate dynamically the caching functionality in a LTE network and improve the caching system performances. In this paper, we will present the solution we designed for this aim based on Software Defined Networking technology. Moreover, we developed a testbed for the proof-of-concept and we will present the results and analyze the performances of this solution.","PeriodicalId":333503,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Advanced Networks and Telecommuncations Systems (ANTS)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126076580","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Low Power Nodes (LPNs) are deployed to improve indoor data rates as well as reduce traffic load on macro Base Stations (BSs) in 4G/LTE cellular networks. Indoor UEs getting high SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio) can experience good throughput, but SNR decreases at faster rate due to obstacles, present along the communication path. Hence, efficient placement of Femtos in enterprise buildings is crucial to attain desirable SNR for indoor users. We consider obstacles and shadowing effects by walls and include them in the system model. We develop a Linear Programming Problem (LPP) model by converting convex constraints into linear ones and solve it using GAMS tool, to place Femtos optimally inside the building. Our extensive experimentation proves the optimal placement of Femtos achieves 14.41% and 35.95% increase in SNR of indoor UEs over random and center placement strategies, respectively.","PeriodicalId":333503,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Advanced Networks and Telecommuncations Systems (ANTS)","volume":"8 6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126714676","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

MAR for tele-assistance deals with providing real-time assistance to the user through the power of Augmented Reality. Real-time applications have strict delay requirements which need to be met in order to satisfy the user Quality of Service (QoS). Mobile communication still being in its third generation, limits the availability of high up-link bandwidth for video transmission. The problem is tackled by means of Bandwidth Aggregation through which the hand-held devices in the vicinity, collaborate with the user to achieve real-time video up-link and maintain the user QoS. In this paper, we present the actual results pertaining to the prototype implementation of the proposed system. Also presented are some simulation results, by viewing the multiple hand-held devices as a virtual Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) system and in turn considering the popular Alamouti scheme in this context.","PeriodicalId":333503,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Advanced Networks and Telecommuncations Systems (ANTS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128832084","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moosense is deployed in the Livestock Research Centre (LRC) of National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) Karnal. It is spread across a cluster of sensor networks where each cluster has a set of specialized systems, installed on the ground or mounted on the animals, which are responsible for live-monitoring of a variety of cattle-health parameters. Each cluster has a gateway to which the devices are connected either directly or through a set of relay nodes. The gateways are connected to a central station where all sensor data of LRC is archived and analysed. Through Moosense, we share our experiences with the development of structurally and functionally complex sensor networks for challenging environments such as in animal husbandry. Moosense is one of the first operational multi-objective wireless sensor networks in India being actively used for precision dairy research.","PeriodicalId":333503,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Advanced Networks and Telecommuncations Systems (ANTS)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127855805","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The address autoconfiguration is defined as the job of assigning the IP addresses automatically to every new node. The objective of an autoconfiguration protocol is to minimize the communication overhead required for configuring a new node. In this paper, we have proposed a variant of existing autoconfiguration protocol i.e. MANETconf. Message complexity has been investigated and it has been found that the proposed variant of MANETconf performs much more efficiently in terms of the message overhead required for configuring a new node.","PeriodicalId":333503,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Advanced Networks and Telecommuncations Systems (ANTS)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134638102","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Employing the heuristic, we jointly solve regenerator placement problem and traffic grooming problem. We consider a realistic network infrastructure where all network equipment are considered to be bidirectional and all WDM equipment are considered with finite maximum transparent distance limits. We employ AM-CH scheme integrated with non-bypass, direct bypass and multi-hop bypass techniques. It is observed that AM-CH scheme integrated with multi-hop bypass technique significantly minimizes CapEx over AM-CH scheme integrated with non-bypass or direct bypass technique.","PeriodicalId":333503,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Advanced Networks and Telecommuncations Systems (ANTS)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115982579","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To deal with the problem, cache-induced CoMP was recently proposed. It is based on caching a portion of media files, and taking benefits of sharing payload data (CoMP joint processing), but without the need of expensive backhaul. However, the on-off selection of CoMP transmission mode in the recent work [1] limits the efficient usage of cached data. It results in decreasing the chances to enjoy the CoMP joint processing, and hence causes the performance degradation. In this paper, we propose a cache-induced hybrid CoMP to cope with such limitation. By adding additional transmission mode, where some selected base stations are allowed to take advantage of CoMP joint processsing, more portions of cached data are made use of, and hence, CoMP utilization is increased. We optimize the beamforming vectors and the cache control, and simulation results demonstrate that our proposed hybrid CoMP scheme notably reduces the total power consumption of BSs to meet a certain QoS level.","PeriodicalId":333503,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Advanced Networks and Telecommuncations Systems (ANTS)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133539631","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"Walking artifacts mitigation for improved heading estimation in a reduced multi-sensor configuration","authors":"Deepak Bhatt, S. The major drawback to this widely accepted positioning technology is its inability to work in indoor environments. Alternatively, various infrastructure based technologies exist such as Wi-Fi, NFC, floor map to assist indoor navigation. However, there still exists a huge gap in the acceptance of such technologies for positioning in GPS-denied environments as additional infrastructure needs to be deployed. Thus the recent research focus is geared towards developing an infrastructure-free system utilizing samrtphone in-built sensors. The research in this paper proposes a novel algorithm capable of mitigating the heading error introduced due to the individuals walking behavior. The algorithm discriminates the pattern in the sensor measurements from the walking against the users actual directional motion. Given this ability the effect of integration error in heading estimation is considerably reduced thereby delivering reliable heading and consequently positioning information. Various test trajectories such as circular, curved, rectangular shaped were considered in an indoor real time environments corresponding to different individuals walking pattern. Test results demonstrated the proposed algorithm effectiveness in bridging the GPS gaps or to aid navigation in an indoor environment.","PeriodicalId":333503,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Conference on Advanced Networks and Telecommuncations Systems (ANTS)","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121713666","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
