This research was conducted in SMP Negeri 40 Palembang and the research subjects were 7 graders with a total of 35 students. The implementation procedure in this study consisted of three stages, namely the preparation stage, the implementation stage, and the data analysis stage. Data collection techniques in this study were observation, test, and interviews. Observation is used to know the implementation of learning through blended learning based on Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education Approach (PMRI), test is used to determine students' mathematical literacy skills, and interviews is used to confirm the results of the tests that students had done. Based on the results of research representative with three student subjects, the component that most often appears is communication and using the language of symbol operations, formal and technical. Communication is seen when students writing statements about information from a problem and when students presenting the results obtained. Using the language of symbol operations, formal and technical, that is when students using formal forms based on mathematical definitions and rules.","PeriodicalId":332877,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2nd National Conference on Mathematics Education 2021 (NaCoME 2021)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121973532","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study is qualitative descriptive research. The subjects consisted of 52 sixth-semester students of Tadris Matematika Programme IAIN Kediri. Collected data through tests and interviews. The test consists of one problem with contradictory information. Analysing data is based on four stages of critical thinking. The results showed that 17% of students chose \"yes\", 73% chose \"no\", and the rest answered unclearly. Then four subjects were selected to be interviewed based on the answers \"yes\" and \"no\". At the clarification stage, they can describe the primary goal of the problem precisely, even though they did not write it down. At the assessment stage, they can provide appropriate reasons or criteria for concluding. Subjects who answered \"Yes\" can review other possibilities of conditions of the problem, but this did not happen to subjects who answered \"No\". At the inference stage, the subjects who answered \"Yes\" had a hypothesis in advance after doing inductive reasoning, then it was concluded deductively through proof. While the subjects who answered \"No\", were not able to recognize contradictory information and carelessly conclude. At the strategy stage, the subject who answered \"yes\" took action to generate other possibilities that met the objectives of the problem. While the subjects who answered \"no\" recalculated the information on the problem.","PeriodicalId":332877,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2nd National Conference on Mathematics Education 2021 (NaCoME 2021)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126888212","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Real problems can be solved through a mathematical process with modeling. The background of the problem in this study was the low mathematical modeling ability of students, especially in the Linear Programming materials. The application of the PBL model can be used as a problem solution for these matters. The purpose of this study is to obtain an overview of the modeling ability of students' mathematics on linear programming material after applying the PBL model. The research was held at SMA YPI Tunas Bangsa Palembang with 37 students as research subjects. The method used in this research is descriptive with data analysis techniques carried out quantitatively and qualitatively based on mathematical modeling indicators. The data was obtained from the test results in the form of essay questions and results of interviews with students. Based on the results of the data analysis, it can be concluded that the ability of mathematical modeling students on linear programming material after the PBL model was applied is in a medium category with a percentage of 46.24%. Therefore, the PBL model can be used as an alternative for teachers in improving students' mathematical modeling skills.","PeriodicalId":332877,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2nd National Conference on Mathematics Education 2021 (NaCoME 2021)","volume":"90 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126718090","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
