So does the demand for a faster, more efficient, and more convenient way for accessing the Internet. Thus, even for many non-computer devices, such as the telephone, fax machine, and hand-held devices, people have added some new features and created the corresponding new applications for accessing to the Internet. Different I/O devices have different characteristics and browsing behavior. To provide a versatile service to different I/O devices with different quality of information, we propose a makeup language called the quality of information markup language (QIML) and browsing systems. With QIML, a page designer can describe different quality of information for presentations to different I/O devices using a single Web page set. The language structure, system architecture and system development are presented.","PeriodicalId":332734,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings 15th International Conference on Information Networking","volume":"278 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2001-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132416942","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In traditional, scholars can get new knowledge and exchange their ideas with others by joining a conference. However this is time and cost consuming. It is feasible to use electronic conferencing technologies to organize future international conferences. Consequently, we developed a virtual conference environment system to help the people who want to hold a conference or want to join a conference. This paper focuses on the virtual conference management system. We developed a complete suite of integrated tools to support your planning, design, and implementation efforts during the deployment of new network conference scheduling of an existing network infrastructure.","PeriodicalId":332734,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings 15th International Conference on Information Networking","volume":"160 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2001-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133868634","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There, a new combined service of medical, welfare and delivery service is introduced. Here, a new service coordinator layer to coordinate several different services for a user is proposed. We discuss configuration methods of the LZN, which consists of three parts, a server, a network and a client. The required elemental function for each part is described. We discuss the services in a regional area and propose an ideal network configuration using CATV and a wireless network. Finally, we introduce an organization, which was established in 1999 to realize the concept of the LZN. Now, 31 members including 13 company members have joined and are working to develop the LZN and services.","PeriodicalId":332734,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings 15th International Conference on Information Networking","volume":"206 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2001-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131891156","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By caching the initial fraction of the stream data, service startup latency can be reduced, and by varying the size of the fraction of stream to be cached according to variation of stream popularity, we can utilize the cache space efficiently and maximize the amount of data served directly from the cache. We use the caching utility of each stream for cache replacement, which represents the correlation between popularity of a stream and the size of storage space that is allocated for a stream. We also propose the method of measuring popularity of continuous media stream using the amount of data played back by clients. Finally, we have performed simulations to evaluate our caching policy.","PeriodicalId":332734,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings 15th International Conference on Information Networking","volume":"37 36","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2001-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132845690","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There is no guaranteed QoS service for end users. In general, an end-to-end path of the Internet is changed by the bandwidth, delay and packet loss by time. Therefore, the measurement of the end-to-end performance is a difficult task for users who need to establish the guaranteed path for critical applications. This paper proposes a framework for measurement, analysis and application program interface to estimate the end-to-end performance for critical applications. The proposed framework is based on the combination of the historical data for previous measurements and the real-time data for current measurement. The framework is effective for applications which need to know the end-to-end performance. The preliminary measurement in this paper has been done to verify the method.","PeriodicalId":332734,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings 15th International Conference on Information Networking","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2001-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134464805","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Existing implementations of reliable multicast protocols have been designed over the transport layer, and have an individual retransmission control scheme. They have therefore been located in application programs, even though some protocols have been exploited for the same purpose. Our network architecture for reliable multicasting attempt to move the process to the lower application layer. Therefore the application programs do not depend on each reliable multicast protocol, so the application program can be identical, as far as the purpose of the protocols are the same. We propose the processes at the active nodes. We design the methods for these processes into the library. As a result of considering the supposed network model, we believe that the performance of our proposal is better than existing reliable multicast protocols.","PeriodicalId":332734,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings 15th International Conference on Information Networking","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2001-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115068649","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a result the Internet has been suffering from a chronic congestion. To improve this situation, it is necessary to develop a super high-speed backbone network. We propose a media access protocol for super high-speed backbone networks such as terabit networks. The cost of network facilities for terabit networks is high. Therefore, we consider a shared media network such as a ring topology in order to decrease the network cost. Our goal is to build an adaptive protocol with high throughput and good fairness. To achieve this, our protocol considers the traffic condition on the ring. If the traffic on the ring is low each station can send a lot of packets. Otherwise, when the ring starts to become congested, the number of packets sent by stations starts to decrease. Performance evaluation via simulations shows that proposed protocol has a good behavior and can be used as a backbone network for high-speed networks.","PeriodicalId":332734,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings 15th International Conference on Information Networking","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2001-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117011371","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To use multipath packet forwarding, efficient load control between paths is necessary. Furthermore, dynamic load control is needed to optimize load mapping between paths depending on the network state. Unfortunately, distributed dynamic load control algorithms, if not carefully designed, can make the load mapping unstable, thus making many packets dropped due to unbalanced mapping. We propose a dynamic load control scheme which makes the network efficient while keeping load mapping stable.","PeriodicalId":332734,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings 15th International Conference on Information Networking","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2001-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116457429","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
