A markup language and system for heterogeneous I/O devices
With its growth the WWW has become a powerful and popular means of information dissemination. So does the demand for a faster, more efficient, and more convenient way for accessing the Internet. Thus, even for many non-computer devices, such as the telephone, fax machine, and hand-held devices, people have added some new features and created the corresponding new applications for accessing to the Internet. Different I/O devices have different characteristics and browsing behavior. To provide a versatile service to different I/O devices with different quality of information, we propose a makeup language called the quality of information markup language (QIML) and browsing systems. With QIML, a page designer can describe different quality of information for presentations to different I/O devices using a single Web page set. The language structure, system architecture and system development are presented.
