A priori information is incorporated to enhance the contrast between stroke area and healthy tissues. The distorted Born iterative method (DBIM) is utilized to reconstruct the stroke area of the brain. Due to the non-linear relationship between actual and estimated dielectric constants resulting from DBIM, the microwave medical image lacks a clearly defined boundary, posing a challenge to accurately segment it using traditional methods. The proposed method achieves effective image segmentation by improving the traditional threshold method. From the simulation results, the region misclassified by the traditional method accounts for 89%, while the proposed method results in a misclassification rate of only 13%. The results demonstrate a significant improvement of 58.85% in accurately reproducing the dielectric constants.","PeriodicalId":332729,"journal":{"name":"2023 IEEE 17th International Symposium on Medical Information and Communication Technology (ISMICT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130063561","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although these SoCs are designed to adhere to the UWB technology, the features provided by each SoC are different. To implement an optimal system, designers should account for the SoC-specific features. This study analyzes the commercially available Impulse Radio Ultra-Wideband (IR UWB) SoCs to identify their features, performance, suitability for non-contact biomedical applications, and future research directions. Therefore, this study will provide a comprehensive guideline for future researchers and developers to implement UWB Systems with improved performance.","PeriodicalId":332729,"journal":{"name":"2023 IEEE 17th International Symposium on Medical Information and Communication Technology (ISMICT)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115622820","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Their use not only involves physicians as end users, but also the patients themselves. VR is “consumer ready” and ubiquitous, making it easy for patients to find and use self-management AR/VR tools for conditions such as non-pharmacological pain management. The limited dimensions and wearability of the VR/AR devices make it possible to benefit from them not just in healthcare facilities, but nearly everywhere, making it particularly relevant for people who are forced to stay home due to significant illness. This paper explores the possibilities of social inclusion, psychological benefits and non-pharmacological pain management derived from the routine use of VR and AR, opportunely integrated with other 6G technologies, by isolated individuals that suffer from chronic and acute conditions.","PeriodicalId":332729,"journal":{"name":"2023 IEEE 17th International Symposium on Medical Information and Communication Technology (ISMICT)","volume":"90 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124614107","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since an AVF often becomes stenosis, palpation is used to palpate the vessel wall vibrations, which is called thrill wave, before and after hemodialysis treatment. This method is widely used, especially in Japan, because of its simplicity. However, several problems in the palpation has been pointed out in terms of reliability because the palpation requires contact diagnosis. In order to solve the problems in the conventional contact palpation, we developed a thrill wave measurement device using non-contact imaging based on an optical technology. Then, we introduced a gradient-boosting decision tree algorithm to detect stenosis in AVFs. The experimental results showed that true positive rate (TPR) = 92.3%, true negative rate (TNR) = 76.7%, false positive rate (FPR) = 7.7% and false negative rate (FNR) = 23.3% to identify normal and stenotic AVFs.","PeriodicalId":332729,"journal":{"name":"2023 IEEE 17th International Symposium on Medical Information and Communication Technology (ISMICT)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131230427","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

SmartBAN provides a communication interface for such wearables and a monitoring station known as the hub. The Smart Coordinator (SC) represents the next step to bridge the monitoring station to infrastructure like Wi-Fi or the cellular network and adds support to other personal technologies like Bluetooth. Hence, the SC intends to support the following: Defining the converge function between the Service Access Point (SAP) of the Link layer (L2) of SmatBAN and the corresponding entity at the infrastructure side. Support of high reliability and dependable Quality of Service (QoS) across networks in the communication path by bridging via the Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) infrastructure. Definition of a vertical for 5G/6G that enables the monitoring of a wide range of personal applications, like health indicators for the elderly, patients, or average people. The SC intends to support coexistence support with other SmartBANs and other wireless systems operating in the same frequency band. A security protocol is of paramount importance for protection of information data and privacy.","PeriodicalId":332729,"journal":{"name":"2023 IEEE 17th International Symposium on Medical Information and Communication Technology (ISMICT)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125288038","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Especially, vital data measurement using wearable devices in wireless body area networks (BANs) has been attracting a lot of attention. The physical (PHY) and medium access control (MAC) layer specifications for BANs were standardized in the IEEE 802.15.6 task group (TG) 6ma. The IEEE 802.15.6ma standard could provide a good solution for a coexistence problem in BANs with highly dependable MAC architectures. In this study, we investigated the effectiveness of the MAC protocol based on the IEEE802.15.6ma standard under co-existence situation. Then, as a fundamental performance evaluation of our proposing MAC protocol for IEEE802.15.6ma, the performance such as packet error rate (PER), throughput and transmission delay time was evaluated by computer simulations.","PeriodicalId":332729,"journal":{"name":"2023 IEEE 17th International Symposium on Medical Information and Communication Technology (ISMICT)","volume":"47 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126969949","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

HS-MFA examines both inherent and subtle intentional gestures as a means of appropriately identifying a user. The system leverages a custom-developed Android Wear OS smartwatch app that records accelerometer sensor data for both user keystrokes and touchscreen interactions using a smartwatch paired with a smartphone. Observed authentication methods include username and password entry on a keyboard, pattern unlocking for smartphones, and PIN entry with a smartphone. Five different pattern matching methods were examined for a total of 96,880 genuine and impostor comparison tests by processing data from 246 unique user samples. The two best performing analysis methods achieved Equal Error Rate (EER) values between 0 and 67%, with an average of 28%, across the observed three axes of accelerometer sensor data captured through smartwatch. With notable accuracy and ease of use, this method would be a novel and intuitive multifactor authentication system for regular users as well as severely vision-impaired users to provide security for their digital assets in cyberspace.","PeriodicalId":332729,"journal":{"name":"2023 IEEE 17th International Symposium on Medical Information and Communication Technology (ISMICT)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115440612","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
