In this paper, a computerized web-based system called “Anti-Polypharmacy Module” (APM) is being proposed which is geared towards checking the menace of polypharmacy by highlighting its adverse effect and drug-drug interactions. The drug library which contains most of the required information will be used to accomplish this task. The application is designed to be a user-friendly one. The system methodology for this work is the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC). This system is implemented using Java-servlet (JSP), JQuery, and SQL as a collection of software development tools. It is also a web-based application hence HTML5 and CSS3 are carefully crafted together for maximum user-friendliness. Apache Maven and Tomcat 7 are deployed for the back-end server technology. For database query optimization, the basic rules are strictly followed as discussed in the methodology. This study comparatively examined the CSR practices of two market leading telecom companies in Nigeria and the Gambia. Survey research design was used in the study. Data for this research was obtained from primary sources through the aid of a structured questionnaire. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics of Mann Whitney U Test while the hypothesis was tested at 0.05 alpha levels. Findings revealed that there is statistically significant difference in the level of CSR sustainability practices of MTN Nigeria PLC and Africell Gambia Limited. All probability values were found to be less than 0.05; economic (0.037), social (0.034) and environmental (0.044). Based on the findings, the study concluded that with CSR practices and initiatives, companies can obtain a valuable tool that provides competition advantage. The study recommended that there is need for the enshrinement of the CSR philosophy in all organizations in order to achieve a sustainable development that the 21st century demands. Thermal radiation, viscous dissipation and heat source effects are also accounted for in the energy equation. The formulated equations of flow and heat transfer are converted from partial to ordinary differential equations using suitable similarity transformations while the dimensionless equations are solved by Runge-Kutta Fehlberg integration scheme. The effects of the physical parameters are publicized through graphs and validated by related published studies in the limiting situations. It is found from the investigation that there is accelerated flow due to the material micropolar term whereas the presence of Casson fluid and magnetic field terms decelerate the velocity. Besides, the surface temperature improves with a rise in the Casson fluid term, Eckert number and thermal conductivity parameter whereas the trend is reversed for micropolarity influence. This has brought about the development of low-cost, and multifunctional sensor nodes for easy and secure dissemination of information. Nonetheless, the problem of sensor nodes running out of energy quickly has been an issue. Many energyefficient routing algorithms have been proposed to solve this problem and preserve the longevity of the network. Most of the recent papers have shown so many protocols mainly designed to minimize energy consumption in the network but there are some limitations with regards to the area of operation and the optimization decisions. This paper proposes an Energy Efficiency Hierarchical Routing Technique (EEHRT) which is based on LEACH protocol to extend the lifespan of a WSN. In this work, the proposed Energy Efficient Hierarchical Routing Technique selects cluster heads based on the prediction of transmission energy through the shortest distance to the base station. Our approach rotates the role of Cluster Heads (CHs), and optimizes the CH selection by the prediction of energy transmission in every round and aggregating data before transmission to the BS. The important features which include member nodes formation and rotation, cluster head selection and rotation, and cluster optimization of our proposed hierarchical routing technique in transmitting data to the base station are analyzed and emphasized. However, academic mentoring has not been effective in many higher institutions of learning, especially those in the developing world, Nigeria not exempted. With quantitative and qualitative approaches, this study explored mentoring among teaching staff, looking at how both variables determine the academic competence of teaching staff in Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu Lagos. A cross sectional survey of all the schools in Lagos State Polytechnic was carried-out with a sample size of 200. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. The study used descriptive statistics which include tables, percentages, and graph while Chi-Square was used to analyze the formulated hypothesis. Questionnaire was used as the major research instrument. The data analyzed for this study was from 150 academic staff that their questionnaire were properly filled and submitted and out of this, Chief Lecturers, Principal Lecturers and Senior Lecturers constituted 95 (63%) respondents, who we referred to as Mentor, and others constituted 55(37%), who we referred to as Mentee. This study used theories on mentoring, leadership and career development that relate to the study. The paper focused on three main research questions: measuring the level of awareness, mentoring and competence and formation of mentoring among teaching staff of Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu. Findings from this study showed that teaching staff in Lagos State Polytechnic are very much aware of academic mentoring, and they believed that academic mentoring were developed on the basis of familiarity in research interests. It was also discovered from the review of literature that, the unresponsive attitude of some junior teaching staff, the pressure of administrative duties, unavailability of formal mentor/mentee structures were identified barriers to good mentoring skills among mentors and mentees. Those in the medical field are not excluded. With the intense training and high level of physical, mental and emotional demands placed on medical students, they tend to become depressed. This not only affects their learning process or overall academic performance; it also affects them professionally in the future, which in turn would lead to compromise in patient care. In The Gambia, there is a lack of data on the prevalence of depression and the impacts it has on medical students. Thus, this study assessed the prevalence of depression among students of the American International University West Africa (AIUWA), The Gambia. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out among medical students of AIUWA over a two-month period (June to July 2021). A self-structured questionnaire was used to obtain information on sociodemographic characteristics. Diagnosis of depression was assessed using the 9-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9). A total of 100 students were included in this study. Data was analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 26. Results: The overall prevalence of depression among the participants was 36%, with PHQ-9 scores ≥ 10. With regards to the severity of depression, 26 (26%), 21 (21%), 11 (11%), and 4(4%) students were classified as having mild, moderate, moderately severe, and severe depression respectively. Efficiency of monthly allowance (p = 0.022, Φ = 0.251, V= 0.251), self-rated academic performance (p = 0.012, Φ = 0.297, V = 0.297) and prior history of depression (p = 0.001, Φ = 0.347, V = 0.347), were independently associated with depression. Conclusion: The prevalence of depression among medical students of the American International University, is high, and is associated with inefficient monthly allowance, consumption of alcohol, average academic performance and prior history of depression.
