However, the main challenge in achieving continuous power supply is the low efficiency of thermoelectric conversion. In this work, substantial achievements have been made in improving the thermoelectric conversion characteristics by introducing redox pairs on the electrode surfaces. This approach takes advantage of the synergistic effect of thermal diffusion and thermoelectric effects to maximize the conversion efficiency. To improve the thermoelectric storage and output power performance, Prussian blue was attached to a carbon woven fabric and used as an electrode. The incorporation of Prussian blue/carbon woven fabric electrodes results in an increase in current density output and an instantaneous power density of 3.7 mW/m 2 ·K 2 . Furthermore, under a temperature gradient of 10 K, the output energy density for 2 h is 194 J/m 2 , and the Carnot relative efficiency is as high as 0.12% at a hot side temperature ( T H ) of 30 °C and a cold side temperature ( T C ) of 20 °C. Our findings validate the efficacy of integrating thermal diffusion and redox reactions in ionic thermoelectric generators, paving the way for the progress of thermocharged devices and their potential commercial applications.","PeriodicalId":332612,"journal":{"name":"Energy Material Advances","volume":"5 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147911551","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the material systems in SIBs are very similar to those in lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), which necessitate consideration of recycling in terms of safety issues, environmental concerns, and economic values. In this study, we present the first evaluations of the disassembly of spent commercialized SIBs and the leaching and regeneration of their cathode material (NaNi 1/3 Fe 1/3 Mn 1/3 O 2 ). We find that pretreatment of SIBs recycling offers advantages, particularly in separating the cathode and removing impurities from the material surface. The primary challenge in recycling is that failed cathode materials are difficult to dissolve in traditional inorganic acids, with an extraction rate of only 57.4% even when a reducing agent is added. Fortunately, there is a possibility for the failed NaNi 1/3 Fe 1/3 Mn 1/3 O 2 regeneration. By replenishing sodium and repairing the structure through thermal treatment, the capacity can be restored to 109.4 mAh g −1 , with potential practical applications. Economic analysis indicates that the recycling of spent SIBs through cathode material regeneration results in a profit of $3.76 kg −1 battery, even surpassing the $2.64 kg −1 battery profit from LIB recycling. We hope that this research will provide a foundation for SIB recycling.","PeriodicalId":332612,"journal":{"name":"Energy Material Advances","volume":"5 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147908687","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nevertheless, the slow dissociation of LiF salts reduces both their utilization and the formation of inorganic SEI. Herein, cellulose acetate (CA) was incorporated into the electrolyte to create an inorganic-rich SEI through ester groups, where the lithiophilic oxygen atoms in the ester group (C═O) enhanced lithium-ion diffusion and anion dissociation rates. Therefore, rapid ion diffusion and dendrite-free anodes were achieved in the ester-based electrolyte with CA (named as CA-E). As a result, the lithium symmetric batteries with the CA-E electrolyte exhibited stable cycling performance for 5,000 h at a current density/capacity of 3 mA cm −2 /1 mAh cm −2 , while a short-circuiting was observed after ~450 h for the bare electrolyte. Benefiting from the rational design, lithium iron phosphate batteries with the CA-E electrolyte showed an excellent C-rate performance with a capacity of 100.7 mAh g −1 at the rate of 10 C. Moreover, a specific capacity of 110.3 mAh g −1 was maintained after 300 cycles at the rate of 6 C with a Coulombic efficiency of 99.87%. This work proposes a new approach to dendrite inhibitors for fast-charging LMBs.","PeriodicalId":332612,"journal":{"name":"Energy Material Advances","volume":"5 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147902980","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
