The method of this research was qualitative descriptive. The data collected for this research consisted of writing mistakes involving capital and italic letters in university students’ essay. The technique of data analysis adopted in this study was a constant comparison. This study found that of 62 essay students analyzed, there were 132 capital letter writing mistakes that were divided into seven types: 1) incorrect capitalization in the first letter of sentences; 2) in writing someone’s name; 3) in writing the name of a lesson; 4) in writing title; 5) in the middle of sentences; 6) in writing abbreviation and acronym; and 7) in writing words that stand for abbreviation. Meanwhile, in italic writing, mistakes occurred only when students were writing foreign terms that remain written with an upright letter. This numbered to 123 mistakes. The results of this analysis indicated that there were still many common mistakes made by students, so in the future, there should be a follow-up so that similar mistakes do not","PeriodicalId":331771,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Current Issues in Education (ICCIE 2018)","volume":"386 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133481489","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is ex-post facto research with the quantitative descriptive approach in which the data were taken from 52 respondents that were chosen by using simple random sampling technique. A questionnaire consisting of the intensity of social media communication and social anxiety were used to collect the data. The instrument for the independent variable was a scale of the social media use, and another scale of the social anxiety in which the content and reliability validity were previously analyzed by Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient. Simple linear regression analysis was used for the test of the influence. The results of this research show the significance of social media use on social anxiety with “quite strong” level of relation and the regression coefficient of -3.094. Additionally, in every increase of 1 point in the intensity of social media use will lower the social anxiety score by 3.094. With the significance of 0.115, the findings show that the independent variable does not influence the dependent variable. The significance of the constant number is 8.051, while social media use is 0.115, and the significance of each is sig 0.000 and sig 0.115, with P>0.05. The methods of collecting data used were observation, interview, and documentation. The subjects of research were the 8thC graders of SMP N 2 Gondangrejo, consisting of 10 students. The result of early observation showed that students’ learning independence was still low. Then, group counseling service was administered using brainstorming technique encompassing four stages: formation, transition, main activity, and concluding in six meetings. The students tended to be silent when the teacher gave them an opportunity of questioning during learning process, some students still made jokes with friends excessively during attending the learning in the class, and some students still cheated when the teacher assigned tasks and during examinations, and some students still made truancy and felt bored in the classroom. After group counseling service with brainstorming technique given to students, it could change the students’ independence attitude into the better one. The students seemed to be more active, to learn independently in expressing opinion, to be open, to make decision appropriately, to improve and to develop conception on themselves, others, and their environment. Thus, group counseling service with brainstorming technique plays an important role in helping students improve their learning independence. They are very important in the counseling process, where the provision of guidance and counseling services should be appropriate to the students’ problems and needs. However, Guidance and Counseling teachers have difficulties in identifying students’ difficulties. In this paper, we present the most problem experienced by 100 junior high school students. They are the first year students of junior high school in Yogyakarta. We analyze the student problems using survey methods with a problem-based guidance and counseling tool, namely Alat Ungkap Masalah (AUM) Umum / General Problem-Revealing Instrument . Junior high school students are in the early phase of teenagers who find many big changes in themselves that can cause problems. The result of this research shows that there are three problems found. The most common problem is Personality (26%), Social Relationship (25%), and Physical Health (22%).","PeriodicalId":331771,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Current Issues in Education (ICCIE 2018)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123384807","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are thirty children consuming breast milk and the same number of formula-fed children aged 2-6 years; the research shows a significant result between the two groups. The findings reveal the differences in motor skills performed by the number of children consuming breastmilk and formula milk. The children who consume breast milk are better in motor skills than those consuming formula milk. Parents who do breastfeeding join the interview on child motor skills. The findings indicate the difference in motor skills performed by children consuming breast milk and formula milk.","PeriodicalId":331771,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Current Issues in Education (ICCIE 2018)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123348160","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, the type of research is experimental research with randomized post test only comparison group design. Each group was treated and only compared to the final test. The population in this research was students of 3rd semester at PGMI UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. To determine the sample in this study, Purposive Random Sampling (sample purposed) was used with sample of class unit, randomly choosing 2 of 3 existing classes so that obtained sample of class IIIB students treated by cooperative model type Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) and class IIIC were given the treatment of cooperative model type Numbered Head Together (NHT). The instrument used in this study was a test. The test used in this study is a written test in the form of a description. To find out whether there are differences in the influence of cooperative type model Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) with cooperative model type Numbered Head Together (NHT) or not, data was analyzed by using t test.
