Materials and methods : through visual observation, 143 children were examined with respect to the type of occlusion. The identification data of the participants about specific questions about the most frequent habits were collected in previously prepared files, the data were subjected to descriptive and statistics test. Results : the descriptive analysis showed that only 17% of the children had the characteristics of a normal occlusion, the remaining 83% had some type of malocclusion. Within the malocclusion, labial suction was the most prevalent with 16,1% of the entire sample. Class I molar and canine was the most frequent. Class molar I and canine was the most frequent. Chi square analysis determined that there is no dependency relationship between the type of habit and the prevalence of anterior open bite (p=0,69), whit a slightly higher proportion when considering labial suction. Conclusion : The prevalence of malocclusions in the studied population was high, being the habit of lip suction the most prevalent.","PeriodicalId":33162,"journal":{"name":"Kiru","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49083165","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Currently there are many studies on the prevalence and risk factors of ECC, but little on the issue of Severe Early Childhood Caries (S-ECC). The present review article evaluates the different factors that have been related to S-ECC, in recent years, grouped into three major areas: host, microorganism and substrate. Materials and methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional and prospective study was carried out in the cell population of 04 teeth of patients who attended at the Dental Center of the University of San Martin de Porres. The patients were informed of the present study and signed the voluntary donation consent of their extracted teeth. The sample was the human dental pulp isolated by enzymatic disintegration and analyzed by flow cytometry using the markers CD90, CD105, CD45, CD34, CD117, CD11b, CD3. Results: The ranks obtained from the positive markers for mesenchymal stem cells were, for CD90 (57.25% -66.21%), the CD105 marker was (2.69%-21.59%) and negative (0%) to the CD45 markers, CD34, CD11b, CD3, CD117. For cell viability, the range obtained from the 7-AAD marker was (77.11% -96.41%). Conclusions: The cell population of the human dental pulp presents multipotential expression with different percentages.","PeriodicalId":33162,"journal":{"name":"Kiru","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49013711","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Currently in Ecuador, there is an average of 800,000 diabetics, of whom 100,000 are in treatment, according to health authorities and the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation of Ecuador. This review seeks to update knowledge in the area of health, both in medicine and in dentistry, forcing us to have a review of current data on the relationship between periodontal disease and type II diabetes mellitus, and how These two pathologies can go hand in hand and affect the oral and systemic environment, relating them to the histological changes and chemical mediators in the oral environment that are accentuated by the presence of periodontal disease and diabetes, whether controlled or not. Databases were revised in Pubmed and ScIELO bibliographic sources, placing as time limits from 2016 to 2017, using as key words \"oral cavity\", \"diabetes\", \"periodontal disease\" and its similar in English, 74 articles were obtained, of which 12 were selected that were analyzed and served as the basis for the execution of this review. After the exhaustive review of the articles, most of the studies reviewed (7 articles), reported a relationship between the two pathologies, which go hand in hand, accentuating in older people. It is concluded that between periodontal disease and type II diabetes there is a close relationship, obtaining a higher prevalence of periodontal disease, inflammatory cells in the presence of type II diabetes with poor glycemic control.","PeriodicalId":33162,"journal":{"name":"Kiru","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45316145","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
