It covers 32% of the total area of agricultural land  14.9 million hectares. The development of erosion processes depends on the combined effect of factors: climatic, geomorphologic, geologic (including the characteristics of parent rocks), hydrogeologic and technogenic impact. The purpose of the research is the analysis of natural and technogenic factors of chernozems degradation in Ukraine to develop the principles of preservation and restoration of their fertility. The comparative-analytical method, mechanical-mathematical bases of engineering geology in a complex with approaches of the system analysis were used in carrying out research. Remote sensing data (ALOS PALSAR, Sentinel) have been processed using a geoinformation system to the database of indicators of erosion processes such as relief steepness and Normalized Difference Moisture Index (NDMI). The assessment of the development of degradation processes has been done for the territory of polygon Kherson\", Ukraine. The parent rocks are loess, loess loam and sandy loams, eluvial rocks (carbonate), alluvial soils. There is a risk of development of the following dangerous geological processes: flooding, subsidence of loess soils, soil erosion, karst, development of gully network. The degree of erosion (degradation) within the polygon varies from 10-20% to 30-40%. Research methods developed to establish the patterns of erosion processes determined by natural factors will allow the development of zonal systems of anti-erosion measures aimed at protecting fertile soils.","PeriodicalId":331146,"journal":{"name":"SGEM International Multidisciplinary Scientific GeoConference EXPO Proceedings","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130519443","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These anomalies affect the productivity of crops and orchards, which is directly dependent on agro-meteorological conditions. The registered tendencies to change the hydrothermal conditions in the different regions of the country sometimes are a risk factor for their productivity, especially in the initial phenological stages of the development of the fruit trees. Bud dormancy on the fruit trees from the temperate zones is a phase of development that occurs annually and enables trees to survive cold winters. To estimate the chill requirements of orchards, besides temperature data, three chronological dates must be defined: the chill accumulation start date, the deep dormancy breaking date, and the date of eco dormancy end. \u0000This study aims to assess the thermal conditions in the initial stages of development of some stone fruit plants grown in Bulgaria. There were analyzed the conditions during the deep dormancy in the orchards and the permanent transition of the average daily temperature above 5C. Chilling requirements for breaking dormancy were studied for some peach, cherry, and apricot cultivars, located in the regions for industrial producing of these plants. The Utah chilling unit model was used to measure the accumulation of chilling requirements.","PeriodicalId":331146,"journal":{"name":"SGEM International Multidisciplinary Scientific GeoConference EXPO Proceedings","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126811178","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This high silicon tuff type and the essential features of the clinoptilolite has generated in time changes in soil properties like soil reaction, an effective pH buffering, increase of water absorption and cation exchange properties. The effect of using three different doses of zeolitic volcanic tuff, with and without ammonium nitrate addition as fertilizer, on acid soils was assessed by means of physical and chemical soil parameters, biomass and grain yields. The pH increase of soil treated by zeolitic volcanic tuff alone or mixed with ammonium nitrate confirmed the buffering effect and suggested the opportunity of using zeolitic volcanic tuff for conditioning and remedying acid soils. An increase of soil humidity and the enrich of calcium, magnesium and potassium content in soil was also observed. The analysis of extractable mineral content showed the contribution of zeolitic tuff on increasing soil mineral content and fertility. Global soil fertility enhance, particularly in the neighborhood of the rhizosphere, was reflected also by biomass and grain yields increase. The obtained results showed the benefit of using zeolitic volcanic tuff in conjunction with ammonium nitrate to restore the fertility of low fertile soils. The usefulness of this paper is to inform about the zeolitic volcanic tuff features and its action as soil treatment on soil quality. The importance of this research lies in presenting a technology to restore soils with low fertility using a rather cheap natural resource and an alternative for practicing an ecological agriculture.","PeriodicalId":331146,"journal":{"name":"SGEM International Multidisciplinary Scientific GeoConference EXPO Proceedings","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127015386","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

According to the recent (2020) available Eurostat data, 505 kg of municipal waste per capita were generated in the EU of which 48% were recycled and 22% were landfilled. Latvia ranges in the 11th position among the EU Member States with 478 kg of generated waste per capita. Romania (287 kg), Poland (346 kg) and Hungary (364 kg) are countries having generated the lowest amounts of municipal waste per capita, while Denmark (845 kg) and Luxembourg (790 kg) have been the top countries with the highest amounts of generated municipal waste per capita in 2020. In Latvia, approximately 66% of generated waste were recycled and 19% were landfilled in 2020. Moving towards the green economy and following the EU Directive 2018/851 targets for recycling municipal waste the governments develop investment plans envisaging financial resources for the waste management sector. The research aim is to evaluate environmental protection expenditure in the context of waste management policy. The research employs statistical data analysis to study the problem elements and synthesise coherencies or formulate regularities. The research period covers the years from 2010 to 2020. Starting from 2018, Latvia has essentially increased amounts of total investment and current expenditure for waste collection and treatment. In 2020, investments have increased 3.9 times compared with 2018; thus, amounting to EUR 36 295 thousand, while the current expenditure has grown by 21.9% amounting to EUR 118 182 thousand. The proportion of investment in waste management has also essentially increased, i.e. from 19.50% in 2010 to 49.96% in 2020, while the respective growth for current expenditure has been more moderate, i.e. from 32.79% to 62.42% of total financial resources for environmental protection.","PeriodicalId":331146,"journal":{"name":"SGEM International Multidisciplinary Scientific GeoConference EXPO Proceedings","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129177237","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the social functions of forestry: rural employment and the availability of forests, in the form of various ecosystem services, are also important to the public. Forests are home to various protected species, and forest biotopes, biotopes associated with forests as well as the biodiversity of forests play an important role in preserving and improving the productivity, regeneration capacity and viability of the forests. Therefore, the Latvian Bioeconomy Strategy 2030 identifies forestry as one of the fields that needs development to achieve the goals of that strategy. Thus, the aim of the research is to study the Forestry section of the Latvian Bioeconomy Strategy 2030 strategic goal 5.2. Result-orientated, efficient and sustainable resource management. The research shows that as of the end of 2021, the Forestry objectives set in the Latvian Bioeconomy Strategy 2030 had only been accomplished partially. There is good progress in the replacement of non-productive areas of forest stand with productive stand; the use of planting material that is genetically improved and suitable for climate change in forest regeneration and afforestation; the thinning of young forest stand; the reconstruction and construction of forest amelioration systems; the range and intensity of the ecosystem services provided by commercial forests, as well as the achievement of the objectives for the preservation and renewal of biological diversity.","PeriodicalId":331146,"journal":{"name":"SGEM International Multidisciplinary Scientific GeoConference EXPO Proceedings","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124179616","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Incorporating environmental requirements into public procurement promotes both the goals of sustainable development and the principles of the circular economy. Green public procurement practices are becoming increasingly important, not only in the world, but also in Latvia. Therefore, in 2017, the Latvian Bioeconomy Strategy 2030 was approved, which envisages the development of green procurement as an important factor for the implementation of this strategy. Therefore, the aim of the present research is to study one of the sections Replacement of non-renewable resources with sustainable bioresources in public procurement for the implementation of the strategic goal of the Latvian Bioeconomy Strategy 2030 Attractive business environment for entrepreneurship in bioeconomy in Latvia. The study found that since 2017, a system of regulatory enactments has been established in Latvia, which provides for certain groups of goods and services to which green procurement is mandatory in public procurement and groups of goods and services to which green public procurement is applicable on a voluntary basis. These product groups include important products produced and processed and services provided in the bioeconomy sectors. In general, the introduction of green public procurement procedures and requirements in Latvia is to be assessed positively, as in 2017-2020 the total amount of procurement has increased 3.1 times from EUR 282 million to EUR 867 million and in 2020 accounted for 17% of the total amount of public procurement. In turn, mandatory and voluntary green public procurement of goods and services has increased 3.2 times in the analysed period and accounted for 77% of the total amount of green public procurement, which promotes the development of bioeconomy in Latvia.","PeriodicalId":331146,"journal":{"name":"SGEM International Multidisciplinary Scientific GeoConference EXPO Proceedings","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114328169","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sustainable use of ecosystem services ensures the conservation of natural resources for future generations. In the cold climate of the lowland river, there is a highly seasonal hydrological regime affecting the use of ecosystem services. Biodiversity in flood meadows depends directly on seasonal variations in water levels. Balanced hydro generation and water regulation can pose risks to biodiversity. The aim of this study is to analyse the impact of the hydroelectric power plant on the water level of flood meadows and its impact on biodiversity in the Natura2000 area. During the study nine monitoring stations were set up for the Svete River section in the administrative area of Jelgava municipality. Water level measurements were made one year at one hour interval. The flow rate measurements were performed monthly. The results of the study show that the hydroelectric power plant has a significant impact on the downstream, where increased river overgrowth wit plants is observed, because of the inability to provide ecological run-off during the summer. This study offers to optimize water flow rates by upgrading the operation of hydroelectric power.","PeriodicalId":331146,"journal":{"name":"SGEM International Multidisciplinary Scientific GeoConference EXPO Proceedings","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113978545","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The activity is classified as a social minimum for the life of the population. The challenge is the growth of waste - household and non-household. Therefore, sustainable development, specifically - waste reduction and recovery, is identified as a center of state and municipal policy. These problems will be soEuroed by making sustainable management decisions. The solution to the problems is through the implementation of public-private partnerships in the form of concessions. It is necessary to derive fair value and analyze the concession rights, which is industrial property. The efficiency of maintaining the existing use of the landfill or granting a construction concession will be compared. It is consistent with the developed legal, technical and environmental analyses. The tasks are: analysis and evaluation of the activity, derivation of the prime cost of the service, evaluation of the concession rights for all interested parties, sustainability of the activity. Methods of synthesis, analysis, comparability and evaluation are applicable. Main results - assessment of the concession rights; assessment of the benefits for the concessionaire and the grantor; proving the sustainability and effectiveness of management decision-making Conclusions In the presence of a positive Present Value and Internal Rate of Return, both for the grantor and the concessionaire is sustainable and effective to grant Concession rights. Oxygen stress in hypoxic soils can lead to decrease root water uptake and transpiration compared to well aerated soil conditions. In turn reduction of transpiration have a positive effect on soil water budget facilitating the preservation of waterlogged state of the soil. We investigate this phenomenon in a greenhouse pot experiment using sweet corn Zea mays var. saccharate as a model species. After establishment seedlings were subject to a differentiated watering regime ranging for now watering to heavy overwatering resulting in soil waterlogging and flooding. It was observed that the elongation rate of maize seedlings decreased once soil was waterlogged. However soon after soil flooding the elongation reassumed coinciding with appearance of new adventitious roots taping the water layer above flooded soils surface. It is concluded the ability of root system adaptation to change in soil water regime determines the plant species success in sites with periodically waterlogged soils. The feedback between soil aeration status and water uptake can result in swinging between waterlogged and desiccated soil conditions, providing competitive advantages to different sets of species during dry-land and wet-land phases.","PeriodicalId":331146,"journal":{"name":"SGEM International Multidisciplinary Scientific GeoConference EXPO Proceedings","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121947750","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
