Its aim is the creation of a 3rd year Bachelor degree that relies exclusively on e-learning and remote laboratories. The project involves 15 institutions from four European countries and three North African countries. The proposed course will be run from several institutions simultaneously and should be accredited as a formal specialization year in all partner institutions, awarding 60 ECTU (European Transfer Credit Units). The course will integrate a Virtual Learning Environment and a Distributed Laboratory.","PeriodicalId":330445,"journal":{"name":"2014 11th International Conference on Remote Engineering and Virtual Instrumentation (REV)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117120799","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the implementation, it was possible to maximize the use of equipment among all professors of disciplines and equipment were accessed remotely by students / professors. This document will detail the importance of a support system for classes to improve use of the laboratory. The application was developed in PHP platform, allowing access via any Internet browser, allowing reservation and use of the equipment remotely. At the end of the development process, the goal in this work was the construction of a Web system for managing and using a remote laboratory networks.","PeriodicalId":330445,"journal":{"name":"2014 11th International Conference on Remote Engineering and Virtual Instrumentation (REV)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122062479","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is demonstrated that when creating a control system of moving objects based on microcontrollers, it is reasonable to use a hybrid approach based on the designed circuit boards and prepared specialized platforms. It allows satisfying the requirements of minimizing size, power consumption and at the same time reducing the time and labour content of the system design. The results of the development of architecture, hardware and software of the embedded system for efficient remote control of the moving platforms are presented. It also describes the collaborative working environment in which the project is created.","PeriodicalId":330445,"journal":{"name":"2014 11th International Conference on Remote Engineering and Virtual Instrumentation (REV)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128524307","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The effects of rotor unbalance can vary from the malfunction of certain equipment to diseases related to the exposure to high vibration levels. However, the balancing procedure is known, it is mandatory to have qualified technicians to perform it. In this sense, the use of virtual balancing experiments is of great interest. The present demo is dedicated to present two different balancing simulators, which can be explored in conjunction, as they have complementary outputs.","PeriodicalId":330445,"journal":{"name":"2014 11th International Conference on Remote Engineering and Virtual Instrumentation (REV)","volume":"148 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123443431","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of its applications is the design of efficient devices in physiological specific monitoring activities, which demands the knowledge of the physiological signals' characteristics and the acquisition methods. The use of innovative educational tools can make a remarkable impact on biomedical engineering education. A remote laboratory for physiological data acquisition has been developed to be used as a complementary tool in the students' learning process. This remote laboratory consists in different experiments for biosignals' acquisition, and it empowers the students to understand the physiological systems functioning. A demonstration will be performed using one of those remote experiments.","PeriodicalId":330445,"journal":{"name":"2014 11th International Conference on Remote Engineering and Virtual Instrumentation (REV)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116070144","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although they have been used by in PlayStations for a long time, they are not yet easily identified or recognized as relevant devices for real activities. The authors intend to broadly introduce the tangible idea of a haptic device and show them as new tools for achieving a deeper insight in many concepts. In order to reach this purpose a very elementary low cost haptic of 1 DOF will be used. Different applications are under development for allowing demonstrating the possible interaction with this 1DOF haptic device of low price in order to highlight the device capabilities and the usefulness of such technology in deepening knowledge and disseminating the concept of this type of tangible interfaces.","PeriodicalId":330445,"journal":{"name":"2014 11th International Conference on Remote Engineering and Virtual Instrumentation (REV)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127140958","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
