Starting from being a costly and rare resource, IT has evolved into a vital enabler for almost any kind of business today. This development demands for highly flexible management concepts allowing the business to actively control and govern IT performance. A widely used approach for multi-dimensional performance measurement in the context of IT management is the Balanced Scorecard BSC. The authors aim at investigating the state of the art of IT BSC use through a comprehensive literature analysis. They also evaluate the adaptability of the different types of this concept to the most recent developments in IT management.","PeriodicalId":329249,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. IT Bus. The challenge in such environments is also observed in large organizations where multiple business units and activities often have separate strategies and investment priorities. This paper provides both practitioners and academics with an enriched understanding of how the international airline company KLM introduced IT related governance principles and practices tailored for a multi-business-unit global organization. Insights from this exploratory single case study can contribute to further theory building and practitioner guidance regarding the crafting of both intra-and inter-organisational governance frameworks.","PeriodicalId":329249,"journal":{"name":"Int. We apply the punctuated equilibrium paradigm based socio-technical model as our theoretical basis. We use this model to visually describe the impacts of business interruptions (=punctuations) on IT executives' perceived equilibria of work. We enhance the punctuated model with constructs taken from Granovetter's social network theory to better understand social mechanisms influencing IT executives' perceptions. We examined empirically perceptions about the equilibria of work and the role of IT in business in a media company during the years 2010-16. We collected data with the interview data collection method by conducting several interview rounds. Interview findings revealed that the equilibria of work were seen differently at three organizational levels. Also, the role of IT in business and the responsibilities of IT functions were seen in varied ways. The punctuated socio-technical equilibrium model together with the constructs of Granovetter's social network theory offered insightful theoretical explanations for our findings.","PeriodicalId":329249,"journal":{"name":"Int. This has proved hard to verify empirically. For this study, the authors analyzed factors that influence IT deployment success. First, the authors identified potential factors, then hypothesized about the relationships among and between the factors and finally integrated the hypotheses into a research model. The authors then empirically evaluated the hypotheses and the entire research model. Special attention was placed on the Business-IT alignment, IT management and the consistency of IT investments in relation to the cyclical behavior of the economy. The consistency of IT investment is a novel factor introduced in this study to the ITBV research. The authors used survey data of 212 responses collected from CxOs during an economic recession. Empirical results confirmed that all research model factors impacted positively on IT deployment success.","PeriodicalId":329249,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. IT Bus. Specifically, this article takes a COBIT 5 perspective, by first analyzing perception differences at the level of the implementation of the seven COBIT 5 enablers, followed by an analysis at the level of the COBIT 5 process domains. The results indicate that a shared understanding about the IT governance and IT management implementation level between different organizational stakeholders can be improved, especially between (1) IT and (2) audit, risk, and compliance (ARC) stakeholders. As IT governance is seen as a critical enabler for the achievement of IT business value, an appropriate level of shared understanding about its implementation level among important stakeholder groups should be achieved.","PeriodicalId":329249,"journal":{"name":"Int. Several studies concluded that the necessary conditions to overcome the IT productivity paradox are to be found in a better IT value management approach. New IT value management frameworks and models are emerging and promoted by both academics and advisory entities, while organizations recognize its importance, they still struggle with getting such IT value management practices implemented into their organizations. This paper investigates prior research on IT value management and the implementation of it using a model of structures, processes and relational mechanisms. By doing so, this paper hopefully will create interest in exploring future research opportunities for academics and provide practitioners with an accurate overview of proven governance and management practices described in literature that can be used in their day-to-day operations.","PeriodicalId":329249,"journal":{"name":"Int. Firms implement ITG via frameworks, such as COBIT or VALIT, which list processes to align business and IT strategies, deliver IT services and comply with regulations. While there exists evidence that companies with mature ITG processes outperform their competitors and that signaling ITG maturity to external stakeholders has a positive impact on firm value, little research has focused on the relationship between IT governance maturity and disclosure of related information. This study examines the association of COBIT and VALIT maturity on IT governance disclosure. The authors posit that overall maturity in COBIT and VALIT have a positive impact on IT governance disclosure. Our results indicate that there exists a positive impact for COBIT maturity and most of its domains on disclosure, while the impact of VALIT maturity on disclosure is mostly insignificant.","PeriodicalId":329249,"journal":{"name":"Int. As a result, a number of theoretical models that can be applied as supportive tools for assessing different components of BITA have been developed. However, most of these efforts have been produced in different countries and they ignore the factor that's subjected to change due to cultural contexts. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the impact of organizational culture on achieving BITA and influences its maturity. The research method and process follows the design science research and is done in three phases. First, an in-depth literature survey followed by a survey was carried out to identify and classify limitations of BITA attributes based on Luftman's strategic alignment maturity SAM model and then, hypothesize the potential impact of organizational culture element based on the Smit et al. model on BITA attributes. Second, an empirical study is carried out to test the hypotheses in order to identify the limited BITA attributes based on organizational culture context. These attributes are further classified for proposing an extended version to the SAM model. Finally, the extended-SAM model is evaluated in 6 Swedish large and medium organizations to test its practicality for comparing its assessment with the assessment of the original SAM model.","PeriodicalId":329249,"journal":{"name":"Int. In this process, it is necessary to be able to deal with a number of sub-areas to succeed with the transformation. One challenge is the need to move beyond a narrow focus on one tradition or technology, as well as to use and integrate different concepts within an enterprise. This integrated view also includes the use and development of guidelines (methods, tools, etc.), in addition to research methodologies and human aspects. Therefore, enterprise modeling and enterprise architecture must treat all slices in a comprehensive alignment context. In this paper, the author presents a conceptualization of the research area Enterprise Modeling and Enterprise Architecture with a focus on transformation and alignment of business and IT.","PeriodicalId":329249,"journal":{"name":"Int.
