In laying out schematics of exchange and debt in the form of ritual markings and later, of writing, the “signification” of inscription is thus always implicated in projects of social organisation and control of disparate substances of expression. Against, however, these signifying semiotics, Guattari will posit symbolic semiotics, such as he locates in the worlds of “primitive” ritual, mime and gesture, and a-signifying semiotics, which are deployed as chains of information by computers. These semiotics, Guattari argues, remain resolutely dependent on their particular substances of expression, engendering individual and untranslatable worlds which might elude “capture” by dominant forms of social semiotics or inscription. This essay introduces these semiotic categories, arguing that this politics of signs constitutes a strikingly original and often overlooked philosophical intervention.","PeriodicalId":32883,"journal":{"name":"Inscriptions","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73234397","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This question is central to Wallace Stevens’s theory of poetry. Here I consider Stevens’s ethics of the imagination particular to “the poetry of thought” and “supreme poetry.” Such an ethics may thwart what Martin Heidegger terms “enframing.” Enframing is used to situate issues of social media which example the growth of technic Heidegger was concerned with. Stevens’s early prose provides an unwitting theorization of technics, a rebuke of enframing from the poetry of thought. Supporting Stevens’s poetry of thought as a critical vehicle, is his relationship with the unheralded yet influential French philosopher, Jean André Wahl, particular to what both consider the “absolute object.” Thus Stevens’s human question a once considered, fourth tenant of Supreme Fiction, “It Must Be Human” concerns two concepts of subjectivity whose practices are informed by technic: the poet of extinction and the poet of multiplication.","PeriodicalId":32883,"journal":{"name":"Inscriptions","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89942348","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Autopoetics of sound and signs 声音和符号的自创生学

It is an attempt to overcome the limitations of currently known linguistic territories which are inadequate for artistic communication through simple and non-purely-verbal poetic forms (e.g. visual poetry, Signalism). Autopoetics doesn’t arise from the act of will and consciousness but from the space of the preconscious impulse; from the time and place before knowledge. With autopoetics, the poetess attempts to create a world, from the beginning, and not only to explain it. Autopoetics which shies away from language, creates a cosmic poetry that addresses everyone and isn’t constrained by the borders of language, nationalism(s), or cultures. Thus autopoetics explores the possibility of strengthening the sensuous experience, of creating a deeper involvement in poetic sensibility through a reduction of constraints of language.","PeriodicalId":32883,"journal":{"name":"Inscriptions","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83057123","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This narrative resists the hegemonic perception of the past that often ignores the experiences of the victims and seeks to tell the story of what happened from a single perspective. On the other hand, the selected artwork establishes a relationship with the past that highlights the multiplicity of experiences of violence and attends to the voices of the victims. To understand this better, Benjamin’s postulates on history are going to guide the analysis. This case study will contribute to the understanding of how art can create complex memories of experiences of violence through its symbolic language and inclusive character, creating the space for justice in our relation towards the past and the victims of war.   ","PeriodicalId":32883,"journal":{"name":"Inscriptions","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75072959","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Where Turkle’s interests in early cybernetic discourse lay in human nature and psychology, networked technology today presents a dispersal of cognition, spilling the notion of consciousness onto nonhuman objects and systems. Drawing from Freudian melancholia, this essay offers a developing framework for machinic psyche. To render a speculative analysis more concrete, I locate affective parallels between autonomous vehicles and the self-replicating automatons in Lynn Hershman Leeson’s film Teknolust. Suggesting a relational (and reversible) understanding of love and despair, my argument aligns with systems-based theories of affect and consciousness.  ","PeriodicalId":32883,"journal":{"name":"Inscriptions","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84836281","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

His position can be distinguished in two ways. To Schirmacher our present understanding is governed by the bias that technology is a means to an end, what Martin Heidegger referred to as Gestell, or (technological) enframing. In Schirmacher’s view such a craft or tool-oriented approach is upheld by a technological-scientific world-view that is characterised by its “mad attempt to deny the world in which we live.” On the other hand Schirmacher goes beyond Heidegger’s view by claiming that technology should be perceived as an event rather than as simply a frame. In this manner we are enabled to grasp the technological phenomenon as a cosmic relation manifest in our lived experience.","PeriodicalId":32883,"journal":{"name":"Inscriptions","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88269816","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
