To meet the need for ongoing demand, the Government of the country instigated the bus and taxi service under the KARWA banner. The study aims to evince the sustainability of the KARWA service. In terms of acceptance, it is evident that those different modes of transportation have two different scenarios. Therefore, the study evaluated the sustainability of bus which is comparatively lower acceptance in terms of public acceptance. It is observed that public acceptance could be regulated following different aspects such as time reliability, safety, comfort, and privacy, etc. On the other hand, the taxi service is evaluated following the technological aspect. For KARWA Taxi, three-car technologies have been compared, which were Conventional Internal Combustion Engine, Electric, and Hybrid Cars. It has been found that Hybrid Taxis have better performance in terms of cost, emission reduction, mobility, and traffic noise compared to conventional cars. Finally, for those two modes, the application of smart technology is evaluated, and it is inferred that the utilization of the tools in a sufficient manner can make those transportation more sustainable.","PeriodicalId":328445,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE 8th International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Applications (ICIEA)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125998730","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The result of the research shows that habit significantly influence the users in their intention of using Grab, while the strongest predictor in the model was shown to correlate between hedonic motivation influence to performance expectancy. Filipino users were observed to value the enjoyment that they experience on the benefit from using the application and services while the habitual usage deemed to be the only significant reason why they will intend to use the application. With these along the other significant variables analyzed in the research, the overall result may be of great help in providing insights to Grab, on how they are faring in the Philippines market and to what factors should they focus more in improving their influence – in terms of mobile technology and services.","PeriodicalId":328445,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE 8th International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Applications (ICIEA)","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133705776","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Motorcycle taxi applications (MTA) are alternatives used by commuters at present to avoid experiencing traffic congestion and breakdowns in public transportation. The growing demand of customers using MTAs in the Philippines and the limited studies available for use in the local setting were the motivation of this study which addressed three (3) objectives: examine the awareness of motorcycle taxi commuters, identify the significant factors that affect the customer's satisfaction in using the MTAs, and determine the level of satisfaction that customers experience in using the various MTAs. Data gathering was done using purposive sampling and survey questionnaires while cross-tabulation, Chi-Square analysis, and one-way ANOVA were used to statistically test the data gathered. The Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) model was used to measure the customers' satisfaction. Results indicated that the most common users of MTAs were students and young professionals while age, occupation, and gender showed significance in MTA usage. Users in the income range of Php 40,000 and above considered the factor mindfulness of the territory to be significant while users with an income range of Php 12,000 and below considered the factor rider's helpfulness and attitude. A CSI value of 76.86% was also computed, signifying that customers in the Philippines were satisfied in using the various MT applications but suggests that the features and services in the applications can still be further improved to continue providing adequate service and increase customer satisfaction.","PeriodicalId":328445,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE 8th International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Applications (ICIEA)","volume":"118 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132579377","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Even though the literatures have reviewed on the suitability of last-mile delivery in different organizational structures, only few have identified the common factors of organizational characteristics. This paper aimed to study the common organizational characteristics for last-mile delivery adoption in different modes. A total of 300 questionnaires were collected from different firms in the central of Thailand. Based on the descriptive analysis, the important results showed that last-mile delivery was widely used in medium-size organizations which had semi-automation level and mixed distribution channel. Attended home delivery, unattended home delivery, same-day delivery and on-demand delivery were the discussed last-mile delivery types. Attended home delivery was the most popular last-mile delivery in Thailand. On-demand delivery was an innovative type of last-mile delivery; however, it was still widely used in a specific industry which was food industry. Based on significant tests, the important factors affecting the choices of last-mile delivery were type of industry, type of product, automation level and distribution channel while size of organization shows no influence on the selection of last-mile delivery types.","PeriodicalId":328445,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE 8th International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Applications (ICIEA)","volume":"154 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122060727","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On the other hand, contemporary mining supply chains typify peculiar areas wherein these manifestations are prevalent. While the mining supply chain has been economically beneficial to immediate stakeholders, it is important to realize that the concept of global supply chain sustainability is still in its infancy. Presumably, it is easy for organizations to emphasize positive aspects of their supply chains, while concealing fewer desirable elements. In this realm, organizations within mining supply chains are tempted to accelerate inappropriate efforts to resolve issues from pressures contained within their local spheres, with limited relevance to global society. This study aims at investigating the impact of globalization on sustainability in the mining supply chain. The study examines effects of globalization, while leveraging the triple bottom-line (TBL) theory to determine relationships with respect to each dimension of sustainability. A conceptual framework is proposed to instigate an exploration of globalization effects on sustainability in the mining industry supply chain. The framework forms the bases from which a mathematical model to anticipate a resolve is derived. An in depth understanding of the relationships between globalization effects and sustainability dimensions is imperative. The study informs research on the nature of key variables impacting the dimensions of sustainability in developing a global mining supply chain.","PeriodicalId":328445,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE 8th International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Applications (ICIEA)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126531928","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mixed-model assembly line is one of the derivate of production line allowing to apply personalized mass production. In this type of production system, line balancing and sequencing have a brilliant role on enhancing the efficiency of the assembly line. This paper addresses the problem of production sequencing in mixed model assembly line. The goal of is to propose a bi-objective mathematical model to determine the optimal sequence of productions. In this way, two objectives function for minimization of displacement and idle time of operators are proposed. The model is coded in GAMS and CPLEX, allowing the implement of an augmented $varepsilon$-constraint method to extract Pareto front. The proposed method creates a set of pareto optimal solutions, supporting the decision makers to select the most appropriate solution based on global strategies of companies.","PeriodicalId":328445,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE 8th International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Applications (ICIEA)","volume":"311 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122609621","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nevertheless, these given assistance and guidelines should be offered to operators when needed. Otherwise, it can be deemed patronising in some cases, e.g., experienced operators may require less assistance than junior operators. Therefore, to provide tailored guidance and assistance in assembly lines, the operators' experience-level should be classified at different levels. In this paper, we introduce three scenarios to achieve the classification of operators expert levels in a real case study (micro-step time-series data from a factory assembly line). We implement a Convolutional Neural Network model for time-series classification, using 5 convolutional layers, max-pooling layers and 5 dense layers with dropout to avoid overfitting. We compare the results of our approach with the ground truth and also with other classifiers as K-nearest neighbours, Random Forest and Naive Bayes classifier. Results show an accuracy of 77 to 98% and 71 to 88% for two of considered scenarios.","PeriodicalId":328445,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE 8th International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Applications (ICIEA)","volume":"405 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116498874","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Previous studies have proved that poor physical environment is associated with ergonomic risk factors that lead to musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) ([1]. Thus, this paper intends to assess the level of musculoskeletal discomfort of occupants in state universities with regards to its current facility and workstation design by utilizing the Cornell Musculoskeletal Disorder Questionnaire (CMDQ). There are a total of 519 respondents involved in the study comprising of 294 students and 225 faculty members from three (3) selected universities in Manila City. Using ergonomic tools and survey, the researchers were able to identify factors that affect the comfortability of occupants in the state universities. The ergonomic factors considered in the study are the following: (a) environmental-factor: noise, temperature, illumination; (b) workstation design factor: classroom seat dimensions, laboratory workstation dimension, faculty workstation dimensions; (c) personal-factor: age, BMI, years of residency, sitting duration, standing duration and sitting posture. Using statistical analyses, the paper further investigates which ergonomic factors significantly influence the occupants musculoskeletal discomfort. Analysis from the 294 students showed that they experience discomfort on their lower back, upper back, hips/buttocks, neck and shoulders while results from 219 faculty members showed that they experience discomfort on their lower back, neck, upper back, hips/buttocks and lower leg. Furthermore, results showed that factors that have significant correlation to the musculoskeletal discomfort of students are sitting duration $(mathrm{r}=-0.744; mathrm{p} < 0.05)$, sitting posture (0.868; $mathrm{p} < 0.05$), seat depth ($mathrm{r}=0.698; mathrm{p} < 0.05$) and stool height $(mathrm{r}=-0.875; mathrm{p} < 0.05)$. While factors that have significant correlation to the musculoskeletal discomfort of professors are standing duration ($mathrm{r}=0.898; mathrm{p} < 0.05$), illumination ($mathrm{r}=0.658; mathrm{p} < 0.05$); seat height ($mathrm{r}=0.745; mathrm{p} < 0.05$) and sitting posture ($mathrm{r}=0.812; mathrm{p} < 0.05$). Using regression analysis, it was further proved that true predictors of musculoskeletal discomfort of occupants are sitting posture, sitting duration, seat height, seat depth, stool height, table height and illumination. It is therefore concluded that there is a need to redesign the workstation and facilities of state universities in order to reduce the musculoskeletal discomforts of occupants.","PeriodicalId":328445,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE 8th International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Applications (ICIEA)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133278760","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
