Nowa kultura – nowa cywilizacja. The author spelled the words such as Kościoł (as an institution, a population of worshippers), Boży, Chrystusowy (as possessive adjectives) inconsistently – once in uppercase, once in lowercase (the latter more frequently). The author of the article (and the editor of Baczyński’s work) analyzes orthographic norms, both present ones and those contemporary with Baczyński, and on this basis decides to leave unchanged the spelling inconsistencies in religion-related words. These inconsistencies are considered a result of the clash between the atheist worldview and the repressive function of orthography, and at the same time a proof of the author’s linguistic struggle, telling a lot not only about the creative process, but also about the idea of the work.","PeriodicalId":32744,"journal":{"name":"Acta Universitatis Lodziensis Folia Litteraria Polonica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44656441","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This material, which Tarn’s heirs kindly offered me for study, constitutes a valuable proof the creative process and the evolution of the writing of the Dialog’s editor-in-chief. In the context of Obraz ojca w czterech ramach [Father’s Image in Four Frames] (1934), Tarn’s début novel and the only one he completed, the novel Kameleon [Chameleon] is an intriguing item in the author’s collection of unfinished works. In this article I shall discuss the material contained in Tarn’s personal archive. This study offers an insight into his “internal laboratory” of writing and enables one to read it from, e.g., the biographical perspective. The dating of the collected material can be only approximated. The earliest surviving prose attempt written in French probably came from the interwar period, while the final notes were composed during his émigré period after 1968, when Tarn was working on his unfinished book on Chekhov.","PeriodicalId":32744,"journal":{"name":"Acta Universitatis Lodziensis Folia Litteraria Polonica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42289728","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The discussion of the creative process applies to a manuscript fragment of the journal from the period 31 Oct 1971–15 Feb 1972, the work published in instalments in the 1970s in the W drodze periodical, and the book releases published in the 1980s. The analysis of editorial changes applies to selected linguistic forms. Those include, e.g., replacement of nouns with pronouns, diminutives with neutral forms or acronyms, questions with ascertainment, and the elimination of particles and first-person singular in verbs and pronouns. All of the listed interventions led to a shortening of passages and assigning them the nature of aphorisms.","PeriodicalId":32744,"journal":{"name":"Acta Universitatis Lodziensis Folia Litteraria Polonica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49607125","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the text he analyses the differences between the editions and discusses the origins of the modifications of the novel implemented by the writer. Those modifications sometimes facilitate while other times hinder the identification of the sources of her thinking, i.e., her reflection on urbanity. Sny i kamienie is a novel that constitutes a record of the experiences of the modernist transformation of two cities, Warsaw and Milan. The reading of Sny i kamienie is difficult at several levels: firstly, due to its treatise-like style and the narrator’s role of a seemingly uncritical eulogist of the urban planning order; secondly, due to a blurring of the traces of contaminations of various experiences: of Warsaw, of Milan, and that of a reader; and thirdly, due to a lack in Polish culture of any traditions of this type of prose text devoted to the city. The essay constitutes an attempt at reconstructing the possible contexts of the novel and how they influenced the alterations implemented by the writer in the more recent edition.","PeriodicalId":32744,"journal":{"name":"Acta Universitatis Lodziensis Folia Litteraria Polonica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42733875","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Laickie poglądy poeta deklarował na długo przed debiutem. Przez cały okres swojej działalności literackiej konsekwentnie stosował zapis korzystający z małej litery w pisowni słowa „bóg”. Nie czynił tego wbrew regułom, lecz pomimo zasad przyjętych przez polską ortografię. Zamiarem nie było bluźnierstwo, lecz wyłączenie się z opresywnej reguły uznający istnienie monoteistycznego „boga” jako bezdyskusyjny pewnik. Po przełomie 1989 roku część edytorów i badaczy uznała nawet stosowany przez Broniewskiego zapis jako wymuszony przez stalinowską i peerelowską cenzurę i starała się dokonać korekty.","PeriodicalId":32744,"journal":{"name":"Acta Universitatis Lodziensis Folia Litteraria Polonica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47687846","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This genre has become known mainly thanks to Svetlana Alexievich, whose works are based entirely on recorded conversations and interviews. To document the genesis of the stories, the author draws on analytical methods proposed by French text geneticists (Pierre-Marc De Biasi, Jean Bellemin-Noël) and American scholar John Bryant (author of the fluid text concept). The investigation is focused on selected clusters of revisions made in Odojewski’s manuscripts – edits made to the title and the opening paragraphs, alongside various deletions, corrections, and additions. The investigation is premised on the argument that in the course of a long creative act, writers typically strive for compositions that most precisely reflect the nuances of their characters’ mental states and the settings of their stories. As performed by Odojewski, the creative act serves as an example of the inherent volatility of writing, which ultimately produces highly fluid characters.","PeriodicalId":32744,"journal":{"name":"Acta Universitatis Lodziensis Folia Litteraria Polonica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48087050","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

W rezultacie ich blisko dwudziestoletniej  współpracy,  przerwanej  przez  śmierć  Wasowskiego w 1984 roku, powstało około trzydziestu piosenek, będących najczęściej utworami o kabaretowo-satyrycznym charakterze albo mających postać „śpiewanych felietonów”. Wśród dokonań spółki Młynarski–Wasowski znalazło się wiele „małych arcydzieł”, będących przykładami mistrzowskich powiązań słowa z muzyką. Utwory, które napisali razem w ostatnim okresie współpracy, zostały w specjalny sposób zapamiętane przez Młynarskiego. Piosenki te powstawały w szczególnym momencie historii PRL – podczas karnawału „Solidarności” i w okresie stanu wojennego.","PeriodicalId":32744,"journal":{"name":"Acta Universitatis Lodziensis Folia Litteraria Polonica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48816737","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In a close reading of these changes the article follows the philosophy of human degradation and connects it both with Beckett’s own ideas on the matter and with a broad cultural context of the epoch. Apart from this philological and cultural analysis, the article advances a thesis that the main theme of Beckett play is not necessarily the absence of Godot/God, or a figure of authority, but the fact of humanity slowly descending into stagnation, depletion of energy and hope as well as physical deprivation. Therefore the article offers an interesting study of Beckett from textual and cultural perspectives, but it also makes a contribution to the genetic criticism of his oeuvre.","PeriodicalId":32744,"journal":{"name":"Acta Universitatis Lodziensis Folia Litteraria Polonica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44224644","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Skupiamy w nim uwagę na zakończeniach 18 wybranych artykułów literaturoznawczych. Właśnie w konkluzjach, jako mających zwieńczyć bądź streścić wywód i zakorzenić tekst w pamięci odbiorców, twórcy poradników i opracowań dotyczących dyskursu naukowego dostrzegają znaczenie fundamentalne. To przeświadczenie zdają się podzielać sami uczeni, obierający przy tworzeniu finałów różne strategie. W tekstach publikowanych od 2015 do 2019 r. wyodrębniamy tego typu strategii około 15: od apologii wybranego pisarstwa po propozycje dalszych ścieżek rozwoju konkretnych badań, od efektownej puenty po cytat z pracy, którą stworzył poprzednik. Jak ujawnia nasza analiza, podsumowanie tekstu naukowego nie jest jedynie miejscem wykorzystania konwencjonalnych retorycznych zabiegów. Staje się też przyczynkiem do zrozumienia roli przypisywanej własnej twórczości przez badaczy/badaczki literatury.","PeriodicalId":32744,"journal":{"name":"Acta Universitatis Lodziensis Folia Litteraria Polonica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42344806","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
