Rapid updates of molecular basis of pathologies and quick progression in the field of diagnostic pathology, this time the 5th Edition of classification was released in <5 years of time-span, from its previous classification, which was released in 2017. Although concept behind these two subsequent classifications are not much different from each other, but this is the first time, when essential and desirable criteria are decided for pathologies. Specific molecular updates also described with almost each lesion to get confirmation from their differential diagnosis. This manuscript also highlights the changes in the nomenclature and addition of new entity, as adenoid ameloblastoma has been added in the category of benign odontogenic tumor. Also, surgical ciliated cyst has been Include in the cysts of jaws. Specific clinical, radiological, and histopathological features have been added with each entity which helps in quick and accurate diagnosis. The purpose of this review is to shed light on important changes in the new 2022 WHO odontogenic lesions classification, its difference from the 2017 WHO classification and a brief description on the essential diagnostic criteria and current molecular updates.","PeriodicalId":326476,"journal":{"name":"Santosh University Journal of Health Sciences","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116392864","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Pica is sometimes attributed to an iron deficiency, and it gets better with iron supplements. Typical kind of pica is geophagy or eating clay. Apart from nutritional deficiencies, it is also seen in psychiatric disorders such as obsessive–compulsive disorder. Pica is thought to be a rare, autonomous, and separate habit in the context of schizophrenia, which is frequently ignored in the diagnosis and may lead to consequences such as intestinal obstruction, electrolyte imbalances, and heavy metal toxicity. Here, we are going to discuss a case of a 25-year-old female. She came with complaints of pain abdomen and undergone routine X-ray abdomen which showed ingested three nails. She was admitted under general surgery care. After the evacuation of nails, she undergone psychiatric evaluation. She has faint memory of nail ingestion but discussed stressful interpersonal relationship with her husband and managed on antidepressant medication. Her pica was probably due to interpersonal conflict with her husband few days ago. Her anxiety and sadness improved significantly with the tablet escitalopram and etizolam. In this case, we are trying to understand the psychopathology of pica, other than medical and known psychiatric causes.","PeriodicalId":326476,"journal":{"name":"Santosh University Journal of Health Sciences","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127351729","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is due to the reduced secretion of either total thyroxine (T4) or triiodothyronine (T3). It causes increased secretion of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) and so significant increase in serum TSH levels.Hypothyroidism can be classified as primary (due to thyroid hormone deficiency), secondary (due to TSH deficiency), tertiary (due to thyrotropin-releasing hormone deficiency), and peripheral (extra-thyroidal; panel). The clinical expression of hypothyroidism range from life threatening—in the case of myxedema coma—to no signs or symptoms.Dyslipidemia seems to be common feature of hypothyroidism. The serum total cholesterol (TC), found to be elevated in hypothyroidism. It is also seen that triglycerides (TG) levels were also elevated in overt hypothyroidism but there is no significant increase in TG level in subclinical hypothyroidism. The HDL level is decreased only in patients of overt hypothyroidism but not in subclinical hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism is also associated with increasing the risk of cardiovascular disorders.","PeriodicalId":326476,"journal":{"name":"Santosh University Journal of Health Sciences","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130869215","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: A hospital-based retrospective study. The medical records of women with stillbirth between January 1, 2022, and March 31, 2023, were retrieved and analyzed for the cause of stillbirth using ReCoDe classification. The study was approved by institutional ethics committee. Results: There were a total of 4520 deliveries during the study and of these 78 were stillbirths, a rate of 17.2/1000 births. Maternal factors such as Pregnancy induced hypertension (PIH), preeclampsia and eclampsia, and undiagnosed congenital anomalies were significantly more common in un-booked mothers in the study subjects. Using ReCoDe classification the cause could be assigned to 88% of stillbirths. The most common maternal causes were PIH and antepartum hemorrhage while the most common fetal causes were severe growth retardation and lethal congenital anomalies. Medical conditions associated with stillbirths were found in 41.2% (32) mothers. Conclusion: ReCoDe classification is a useful, easy-to-use tool and can assign a cause to majority of stillbirths.","PeriodicalId":326476,"journal":{"name":"Santosh University Journal of Health Sciences","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132150823","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Approximately, in every fifth asthmatic patient, the possible role of food allergy should be taken into account. Materials and Methods: This was a descriptive study of dietary pattern in asthma control in 1 year, between 2021 and 2022 with 100 asthma and 100 healthy controls. Asthma was diagnosed as per Global Initiative for Asthma 2021. The control group had no respiratory ailments in their entire life span. Diabetes and hypertension were excluded from the study. Dietary habits were documented in both groups in a food diary, and five parameters were given thrust in order to simplify the study. Results: There is a positive correlation between consumption of fast food, packed chips, carbonated drinks and worsening of asthma in 36 patients. Low consumption of cereals has a positive correlation with asthma severity in 38 patients and greater than three times a week sugar intake associated with poor asthma control which is found in 26 patients. Conclusion: The correlation between asthma and the consumption of fast food, salted snacks, fried snacks, fats and oils nuts, dry fruits, and carbonated drinks has been observed in India. Consequently, it becomes crucial to lower the intake of these items and enhance public awareness regarding the impact of fast food on asthma through the implementation of effective public health policies.","PeriodicalId":326476,"journal":{"name":"Santosh University Journal of Health Sciences","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121178581","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hence, the primary objective of this study was to investigate the correlations between two groups with different sociodemographic status toward COVID-19 knowledge, affective attitudes, and preventive behaviors. Method: A cross-sectional comparative offline survey was conducted through questionnaire in a total of 166 population in and around Ghaziabad where 93 were active gym-goers and 73 were transport worker. Data collection was done from January to March 2022 that was included in statistical data analysis. Results: The difference of knowledge and practice was found when both groups were compared which was statically significant. Conclusion: The presence of sufficient COVID-19 knowledge demonstrates a direct association with increased engagement in precautionary behaviors. However, attitudes toward COVID-19 did not appear to have a significant role in motivating individuals to adopt preventive behaviors. Furthermore, COVID-appropriate behavior was associated with more educated and health-conscious groups.","PeriodicalId":326476,"journal":{"name":"Santosh University Journal of Health Sciences","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125026881","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Swain","doi":"10.4103/sujhs.sujhs_7_23","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.4103/sujhs.sujhs_7_23","url":null,"abstract":"Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) is one of the commonest etiologies for vertigo. The most common semicircular canal affected in the pathogenesis of BPPV is the posterior semicircular canal. However, lateral and anterior semicircular canals are also involved in BPPV, but their involvement in etiopathogenesis is still underrated. The pathophysiology for lateral canal BPPV (LC-BPPV) is attributed to otoconia present in the canal, either floating in the semicircular canal or adherent to the cupula. There are two types of LC-BPPV such as geotropic and apogeotropic/ageotropic. Till today, the role of the lateral semicircular canal (LSC) in BPPV is still the most debatable and grey area of the research niche. The geotropic type LC-BPPV is related to canalithiasis of freely mobile otoconia in the nonampullary arm of the LSC. Apogeotropic LC-BPPV is caused by canalithiasis in the ampullary arm or cupulolithiasis with otolithic debris located in the canal or utricular side of the LSC. The pathological side must be identified for successful treatment. The affected side is usually indicated by nystagmus intensity: The more intense positional nystagmus beats toward the affected ear. The identification of the affected ear is very crucial for the successful treatment of the LC-BPPV by using particle repositioning maneuvers. This review article discusses the epidemiology, etiopathology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, and treatment of LC-BPPV in the pediatric age group.","PeriodicalId":326476,"journal":{"name":"Santosh University Journal of Health Sciences","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127788938","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
