Due to the different application compared to classical 3 phase to 3 phase matrix converters supplying induction machines a new investigation of possible commutation principles is necessary. The paper therefore compares the full bridge series-resonant converter with the 3 phase to 2 phase matrix converter. From the commutation of the full bridge series-resonant converter, conditions for the bi-directional switch commutation are derived. One of the main benefits of the derived strategy is the minimization of commutation steps, which is independent from the load current sign.","PeriodicalId":325362,"journal":{"name":"2007 Power Conversion Conference - Nagoya","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-04-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132353855","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we analyze compensating characteristics of a series-shunt active power filter by simulation and experiment when source voltage or load current becomes unbalanced. The harmonic and unbalanced voltages are detected and compensated in a series active filter using dq0 transformation. The harmonic and unbalanced currents are detected and compensated in a shunt active filter using pq-theory. The results of analysis show that the THD of the compensated voltage is 1.0% by simulation and 8.3% by experiment. The THD of the compensated current is 3.0% by simulation and 7.2% by experiment. It is shown that the series-shunt active filter can compensate the voltage and the current simultaneously and it has excellent compensating characteristics even when unbalanced components occur in the electric power system.","PeriodicalId":325362,"journal":{"name":"2007 Power Conversion Conference - Nagoya","volume":"144 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-04-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132410607","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents a comparison of various soft-switched HF transformer isolated DC-DC converters for fuel cell to utility interface application. It is shown that due to wide variation in fuel cell voltage with load variation, none of the voltage-fed converters can maintain ZVS for the complete operating range. Active clamped two-inductor current-fed converter is able to maintain ZVS for wide load and fuel cell stack voltage variations and is suitable for the present application. Analytical and simulation results to evaluate the performance of the current-fed converter are presented.","PeriodicalId":325362,"journal":{"name":"2007 Power Conversion Conference - Nagoya","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-04-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130465856","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the best solution, especially for automotive application, which requires the perfect safety, is the IPM with a protection circuit built-in inside of power module. In IPM, low loss characteristics could be achieved by the advanced IGBT structure like a CSTBT. Not only individual technology advance for both Silicon chip and package, but also chip-package interconnections are extremely important to achieve the best performance as a power module.","PeriodicalId":325362,"journal":{"name":"2007 Power Conversion Conference - Nagoya","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-04-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134184294","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently, several new applications have emerged as additional drivers for the development of the technologies. One such application is commercial transport airplanes where single-phase PFC converters capable of meeting stringent airborne power quality requirements are required for in-flight entertainment (IFE), avionics, communication, and other single-phase loads. The proliferation of variable-speed motor drives in home appliances has also generated a new need for high-power (up to a few kilowatts), high-efficiency, and low-cost single-phase PFC converters. New PFC circuits, control methods, as well as EMI modeling and design techniques are being developed in response to these new requirements, which are reviewed in this paper. Specific subjects to be covered include airborne and home appliance applications, as well as EMI modeling and EMI filter design optimization.","PeriodicalId":325362,"journal":{"name":"2007 Power Conversion Conference - Nagoya","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-04-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128945593","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Integrated with maneuverability improvement control system, the proposed method dynamically distributes the total driving force among the available in-wheel driving motors by according to the working conditions of tires. Due to such precise distribution, the motors can be purposely controlled with different force commands. Therefore, the wheels can be driven in a special way to realize the traction forces and moments, which are required for the motion control. It helps improve turning maneuverability and keep stability of EV, especially in the marginal turning conditions. Experiment results indicate that the control system with the proposed dynamic force distribution method much more greatly improve EV turning characteristics than the one which uses the equal force distribution method.","PeriodicalId":325362,"journal":{"name":"2007 Power Conversion Conference - Nagoya","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-04-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132165891","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
