Following the idea of [24], we propose to build an abstraction of a component already verified, starting from a subset of its specification described as CTL formulae. This abstraction replaces the concrete component and alleviates the state-space explosion problem for checking global properties expressed in ACTL.","PeriodicalId":323657,"journal":{"name":"Seventh International Conference on Application of Concurrency to System Design (ACSD 2007)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124503206","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Each diagram is used to capture a particular aspect or view of the system including structural and behavioural aspects. Our approach enables the analysis of complex systems designed in a combination of UML 2.0 notation, and serves as a means to detect inconsistencies in design.","PeriodicalId":323657,"journal":{"name":"Seventh International Conference on Application of Concurrency to System Design (ACSD 2007)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122599658","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We discuss the basic concurrency model (rules, or guarded atomic actions); modular construction of rules; scheduling into clocked synchronous hardware, including multiple clock domains; non-determinism vs. determinism, and predictability and control of scheduling; and suitability for formal verification. We also discuss the importance of \"bridging\", i.e., the ability to use the same semantic model both for highlevel specifications and modeling as well as for high-quality hardware implementations.","PeriodicalId":323657,"journal":{"name":"Seventh International Conference on Application of Concurrency to System Design (ACSD 2007)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130381783","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main motivation is to exploit the verification tools and theories developed for mCRL2 in Rebeca. The mapping is applied to several case-studies including the tree identify phase of the IEEE 1394 standard. The results of the experiment show that the minimization tools of mCRL2 can be very effective and the outcome of the present translation outperforms that of the translation to the input language of the Spin model-checker.","PeriodicalId":323657,"journal":{"name":"Seventh International Conference on Application of Concurrency to System Design (ACSD 2007)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134061635","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On one hand, it has to provide solutions to deal with concurrency and timeliness issues of the system. On the other hand, it has to glue different disciplines (such as software, control and mechanical) of the system as a whole. In this paper, we propose a model-driven approach to design the software part of a mechatronic system, which consists of two major parts: systematic modeling and correctness-preserving synthesis. The modeling stage is divided into four steps, which focus on different aspects (such as concurrency, multiple disciplines and timeliness) of the system respectively. In particular, we propose a set of handshake patterns to capture the concurrent aspect of the system. These patterns assist designers to build up an adequate top-level model efficiently. Furthermore, they separate the system into a set of concurrent components, each of which can be further refined independently. Subsequently, the multidisciplinary and realtime aspects of the system are naturally specified and analyzed in a series of refinements. After the important aspects of the system are specified and analyzed in a unified model, a software implementation is automatically synthesized from the model, the correctness of which is ensured by construction. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is illustrated by a complex production cell system.","PeriodicalId":323657,"journal":{"name":"Seventh International Conference on Application of Concurrency to System Design (ACSD 2007)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124451758","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Instead, any participating wireless device can act as a router, when a direct communication is not possible. Sensor and ad hoc wireless networks is an area of very active research. In this tutorial we discuss issues specific to this flavor of communication networks: MAC and routing protocols, protocol interactions, mobility models, misbehavior and misbehavior detection, and relevant graph-theoretic concepts. The current network simulation tools will also be discussed.","PeriodicalId":323657,"journal":{"name":"Seventh International Conference on Application of Concurrency to System Design (ACSD 2007)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114721049","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the last decade, very efficient implementations of SAT solvers have been provided. Thanks to that SAT-based bounded model checking (BMC) and unbounded model checking (UMC) became feasible. The idea of UMC consists in encoding the states of a model, where a temporal formula holds, by propositional formulas in conjunctive normal form (called blocking clauses). Unfortunately, the number of these clauses can be exponential. There are several methods aiming at improving the above deficiency by using generalized blocking clauses, or for instance circuit cofactoring. In this paper we define and use timed generalized blocking clauses in UMC of timed automata for untimed temporal properties expressed in CTL-X.","PeriodicalId":323657,"journal":{"name":"Seventh International Conference on Application of Concurrency to System Design (ACSD 2007)","volume":"15 6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116854205","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Fault diagnosis consists of synthesizing a diagnoser that observes a given plant and identifies faults in the plant as soon as possible after their occurrence. Existing literature on this problem has considered the case of static observers, where the set of observable events does not change during execution of the system. In this paper, we consider static as well as dynamic observers, where the observer can switch sensors on or off, thus dynamically changing the set of events it wishes to observe.","PeriodicalId":323657,"journal":{"name":"Seventh International Conference on Application of Concurrency to System Design (ACSD 2007)","volume":"150 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133814302","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There is now an impressive amount of research in the area of intelligent embedded controllers, and thus we do not need to argue about the importance of this subject. Our contribution is twofold: 1. define a new problem, that of using complex mathematical information about continuous environments; and 2. propose an initial solution in the form of a new logic defined using Hilbertian methods. This represents the first step towards using abstract continuous mathematics in formal methods, a program that we have called Hilbertian formal methods.","PeriodicalId":323657,"journal":{"name":"Seventh International Conference on Application of Concurrency to System Design (ACSD 2007)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116558461","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
