While other methods concentrate on appropriate scheduling to enable SIMD parallel execution, this paper proposes a new method where data dependencies are resolved by fusing the recursive application of filter taps into single coefficients. In this way the overhead over perfect parallelity can be reduced to one vector multiply-accumulate operation. Speedups from 1.5 to 4.5 can be obtained with the 4-way SIMD Intel SSE extension, depending on the number of filter taps.","PeriodicalId":322045,"journal":{"name":"2008 15th International Conference on Systems, Signals and Image Processing","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128794005","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This method creates speech by re-sequencing pre-recorded speech units selected from a very large speech databases. In a CHATR style selection the final synthesized sequence of units is obtained by searching all of the candidate sequences for the minimal combination of target and join costs. The searching process is a very time consuming task, so several acceleration methods has been created to make the synthesis available for real time applications. This paper proposes one such a method that was implemented in the S2 system - the Slovak low-level synthesizer.","PeriodicalId":322045,"journal":{"name":"2008 15th International Conference on Systems, Signals and Image Processing","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133735386","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we address a method for classification of remote sensing (IKONOS) image and especially for the extraction of buildings. First step is applying the unsharp masking [USM] which intensify high frequency components of the original image. Then imagepsilas Laplacian, Bayesian classifier and size filter is used for building discrimination. The accuracy of small and large building classification using unsharp mask filter and Bayesian discrimination function is increased compared with the original qualitative model for Bayesian classification. Experiments indicate promising results about the efficiency of the proposed approach.","PeriodicalId":322045,"journal":{"name":"2008 15th International Conference on Systems, Signals and Image Processing","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133872364","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although, FD has been well studied and lacunarity has been more and more used, succolarity, until now, has not been considered. This work presents a method to compute succolarity. It considers its applicability and relations (differences and similarities) with of each other fractal measure, as well. The proposed method for this computation is based on the FD box counting approach adapted to the notions of succolarity. A simple example is shown step by step to easily explain how to compute the succolarity for binary images. Furthermore, it is shown that the proposed method is able to correctly distinguish social aspects of cities on satellite images. The main idea is the use of succolarity as a new feature in the pattern recognition process mainly for identification of natural textures. Succolarity works very well when the input images have direction and/or flow information associated with it.","PeriodicalId":322045,"journal":{"name":"2008 15th International Conference on Systems, Signals and Image Processing","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126329852","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
