The aim of this work was to assess the health nutrition awareness represented in prevention control and healthy eating habits among infected and uninfected residents of Saudi Arabia. We conducted an electronic questionnaire on social media between July and September 2020, was completed by a total of 976 Saudi Arabian residents from 8 provinces, and after validation, only 446 respondents have been included in the study aged between 20 and 68 years, 59.64% female, 79% university-educated. The highest infection rate showed in Mecca (81.82%) due to its religious importance. The majority of infected respondents stated that they received healthcare at home (82.92%). Chronic diseases;asthma, cardiovascular, diabetes and Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) showed to be high-risk groups for COVID-19 infection that represented (20.15, 15.67, 22.39 and 13.43%, respectively) of infected populations. Most of the infected participants poorly adhered with recommended safety measures;hand wash, sanitizers, face mask and physical distancing (79%, 77%, 62% and 61%). Good intake of antioxidants from food (39.77 and 53.19% respectively). Nutrition awareness showed to be related to education level, as 75% of PhD holders adhered to healthy eating behaviour and used immune boost foods (myrrh, pumpkin and turmeric). Obtained results could represent good guidance to governmental plans for pandemic management based on predicted population behaviour for a brighter future of health and wellbeing.","PeriodicalId":32201,"journal":{"name":"Microbial Biosystems Journal","volume":"24 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75904665","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They organized more than 15 workshops organized by Botany and Microbiology Department, Faculty of Science, Suez Canal University, Egypt. The major objects of the aforementioned workshops were to raise the national awareness on Biodiversity and Conservation of Fungi. In 2013, Abdel-Azeem founded the Arab Society for Fungal Conservation (ASFC) as a pioneer society for fungal conservation in the Arab world and North of Africa. The society founded in Botany and Microbiology Department, Faculty of Science, University of Suez Canal, Egypt as a private, voluntary, non-governmental organization. In 2016, Abdel-Azeem founded the Egypt’s Mycologists Network (EMN) as a structured network of Egyptian mycologists, with a steering committee to guide and promote best practices, and to resolve relevant problems through collaboration between mycologists, amateur fungal groups, fungal conservation societies, regional natural parks and environmental agencies. Recently by the end of 2020 and due to these previous activities various networks have been founded by ASFC in Iraq, Algeria and Pakistan by mycologists and academia from these countries to illustrate the concept of fungal conservation through collaboration between decision makers, mycologists, fungal conservation societies, individual enthusiasts, national protectorates and environmental agencies. Based on aforementioned information we presented here the updated news concerning Fungal conservation efforts in Arab countries.","PeriodicalId":32201,"journal":{"name":"Microbial Biosystems Journal","volume":"34 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83495096","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Several viruses have been identified as causative factors for various forms of cancer. Tumor occurrence can be caused by viral oncoprotein activity, persistent infection or inflammation. The molecular process is still complicated to be understood. In recent decades, Homo sapiens cell microRNA (hsa-miRNA) has been discovered by small non-coding RNAs that affect post-transcriptional gene expression. hsa-miRNA is a key control factor for several key biological processes and has a much greater impact on the target gene group. even though they occupy a small part of the genome, they play a great role in the development of cancer. Several viruses produce this tiny RNA, which can regulate their gene expression or affect the host's gene expression. A new hypothesis is that Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is the first cancer causing virus that is found to produce microRNAs (v-miRNAs). In addition, evidence shows that miRNA encoded by EBV contributes to the occurrence and progression of EBV-related malignancies. Generally, these compounds reduce messenger RNA (mRNA) instability, such as genes that regulate tumorigenesis mechanisms like inflammation, cell cycle control, stress response, differentiation, apoptosis, invasion, and immune pathways. Therefore, EBV-miRNAs are important in the complex interaction between host, virus and EBV tumorigenesis. In terms of malignant tumors, the combinatorial process behind EBV-miRNA still needs further study. In this article, we will introduce EBV-miRNA, including the cellular processes affected by the virus, and their ability to promote cancer.","PeriodicalId":32201,"journal":{"name":"Microbial Biosystems Journal","volume":"25 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74780765","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For a country like Iraq no updated checklists of fungi at all or any mycological bibliographic studies up till now. We decided in our newly born Iraqi Mycologists’ Network to start a long road for documentation of fungi in Iraq by all available means. By screening of available sources of information (websites, dissertations, theses, journals), it was possible to figure out a range of four hundred and fifty-five articles published since 1962 in Iraq collected from various sources all dealing with some phase of medical mycology. The value of this bibliography to students, researchers and medical mycologists in Iraq and world-wide in this field is self-evident. It should be mentioned here that, although the present study will add some new data to our information concerning medical mycology in Iraq; it must be considered as a provisional one always waiting for continuous supplementation.","PeriodicalId":32201,"journal":{"name":"Microbial Biosystems Journal","volume":"28 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83575140","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
