Aim of this study was to identify the relationship between sleep quality, functional ability and lifestyle habits of children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Design: A descriptive correlational design was utilized. Setting: The study was took place at the outpatient clinic of the rheumatology and rehabilitation department at Zagazig University Hospitals. Subjects: Purposive sample of fifty-five children with JIA aged 6–16 years were included from the previous mentioned setting. Tools: Four tools were used to gather the required data. Tool I: Children bio socio demographic characteristics. Tool II: Sleep quality scale (SQS). Tool III: Functional ability questionnaire. Tool IV: Lifestyle questionnaire. Results: It was clarified that more than one third of children had poor sleep quality and two fifths of them had low functional ability, as well as more than two fifths of them had poor lifestyle habits. Conclusion: Juvenile idiopathic arthritis had a negative effect on sleep quality, functional ability and lifestyle habits of the studied children. Moreover, there was highly statistically significant positive correlation between children’s sleep quality, functional ability and their lifestyle habits. Recommendations: Developing an educational program regarding lifestyle modifications is mandatory for children with JIA.","PeriodicalId":320622,"journal":{"name":"Assiut Scientific Nursing Journal","volume":"9 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140516341","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Emotionally intelligent nurses think positively and live fulfilling lives, which reduces their perceived stress. Aim: of this study was to examine the mediating role of emotional intelligence in the relationship between perceived stress and life satisfaction among nursing intern students. Design: A descriptive correlational research design was utilized. Sample : Convenient sample of 200 of 375 internship-year students. Setting: Data was gathered from several clinical settings where nursing intern students were trained at Kasr El-Aini hospital. Tools: Four tools were used, Personal characteristics data sheet, Emotional Intelligence questionnaire, Perceived stress questionnaire, and Life satisfaction scale. Results: This study found that 61.0% of participants were females. Most (83%) were single. (68.5%) nursing intern students exhibited high emotional intelligence, (62%), moderate stress, and (88.5%) moderate life satisfaction. Nursing intern students' perceived stress levels were negatively correlated with their life satisfaction but not with their emotional intelligence. Conclusion: Emotional intelligence did not mediate the connection between stress and life satisfaction. Also it was found that there was a direct negative relationship between perceived stress levels and Life satisfaction levels. Recommendation: Further research with larger sample sizes is recommended to generalize and enhance the understanding of the connection between emotional intelligence, perceived stress, and life satisfaction among this specific group of students.","PeriodicalId":320622,"journal":{"name":"Assiut Scientific Nursing Journal","volume":"145 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140521421","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Setting: the research was conducted in the hemodialysis units at Mansoura University Children's Hospital and Ain-shams University Hospitals in Egypt. A total sample size of 80 nurses was recruited, 40 nurse from each setting and purposive sample of (41) adolescents and (41) young adults who fulfilling the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Three tools were used for data collection: nurses' knowledge regarding safety guidelines during hemodialysis questionnaire; Hemo Pause safety assessment observational checklist and hemodialysis Patient safety parameters questionnaire. Results: There are improvements in nurses‘ knowledge as evidenced by 70% and 82.5% of nurses had good knowledge and 97.5 and 80% of them had competent practice in both hospitals after implementing safety guidelines and Hemo-Pause checklist. Additionally, half of patients had high safety parameters in post intervention phase than in pre intervention which statistically significant difference at (p≤ 0.001). Conclusion: this study highlights the positive impact of implementing safety guidelines and utilizing the Hemo-Pause checklist on nursing practice and safety parameters in hemodialysis for adolescents and young adults. Recommendation: continuous training and educational programs should be provided to enhance nurses‘ performance regarding patient safety and the use of checklists to enhance nurses' performance in providing safe and efficient care.","PeriodicalId":320622,"journal":{"name":"Assiut Scientific Nursing Journal","volume":"33 19","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140518140","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mirror therapy is currently used in rehabilitation for stroke elderly patients in either clinical or home-based settings to accelerate upper limb sensory-motor recovery. Aim: To evaluate the effectiveness of home-based mirror therapy on enhancing the upper limb sensory-motor recovery of elderly patients post-stroke. Design: A pre to post-test experimental design was utilized Subjects: A purposive sample of 40 elderly patients post-stroke was recruited Setting: The study was conducted in the Rheumatology and Rehabilitation Unit of Mansoura University Hospital and at Elders Homes. Tools: An interview schedule sheet and three standardized tools were used Results: The mean age of elderly patients post-stroke in both the intervention and comparison group was 65.70±6.11 and 65.35±7.34 years, respectively with no significant difference (p>0.05). A highly statistically significant difference was found in all parameters of the sensory-motor recovery of the upper limb in the intervention group (p<0.01) at pre, and follow-up phases of intervention. Also, highly statistically significant differences were noted between both groups regarding all parameters (p< 0.01) in post-test I and II. Conclusion: Home-based mirror therapy is a practical, easy, and cheap nursing intervention that can be used as an adjunct therapy with conventional therapy for recovery of the upper limb in elderly patients post-stroke.
