Aim: explore the effectiveness of the nursing intervention program based on emotional awareness and emotion regulation on the social functioning of patients with schizophrenia. Design: A quasi-experimental design, one group (pre and post-test) was utilized. Subjects: A purposive sample of 60 patients with schizophrenia. Study setting: Inpatient psychiatric wards at El-Azazi Hospital for Mental Health and Addiction Management in Abo Hamad City, Sharqia Governorate, Egypt. Tools: Demographic and clinical data questionnaire of schizophrenic patients, Toronto Alexithymia scale, emotion regulation questionnaire, and social function questionnaire. Results: The nursing intervention program based on emotional awareness and regulation had a statistically significant effect (P = 0.0001) on social functioning among studied patients with schizophrenia. Conclusion: The nursing intervention program based on emotional awareness and regulation has a great effect in enhancing social functioning, raising emotional awareness and regulation as well as lowering alexithymia levels in studied schizophrenic patients. Recommendation: Emotional awareness and regulation intervention nursing program should be given to all schizophrenic patients to improve their social functioning, enhance emotional awareness, regulation and reduce their levels of alexithymia.","PeriodicalId":320622,"journal":{"name":"Assiut Scientific Nursing Journal","volume":" 9","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140388493","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nurse intervention is important in the improvement of knowledge and the self-reported level of adherence to hormonal therapy among women with breast cancer. Aim: To evaluate the Effectiveness of nursing intervention designing protocol in Improving knowledge and adherence among women with breast cancer regarding oral hormonal therapy. Subjects and Method: Quasi-experimental single-group pre-post-test design was utilized. A convenient number of 200 adult women with the diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer were included in this study, there are ranged from (18-65) years, new receiving oral hormonal therapy, from the inpatient department and outpatients' clinic at South Egypt Cancer Institute of Assiut University hospitals. A structured interviewing questionnaire included demographic, medical data, Knowledge assessment, and an adherence scale was used. Nursing intervention protocol was carried out over 2 months for patients at follow-up. Results: All of them (100%) were females, the majority of them (98%) were married, all studied patients (100%) achieve good knowledge, and 90% of studied patients achieved medium to high scores regarding compliance for oral hormonal therapy, protocol after applying of nursing intervention designing protocol Conclusion: There were improvement regarding patients` knowledge, and adherence level after applying nursing intervention protocol. Recommendations: Nurses should counsel cancer patients about oral hormonal therapy, addressing the reasons for non-adherence and handling them.","PeriodicalId":320622,"journal":{"name":"Assiut Scientific Nursing Journal","volume":" 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140389250","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition to its physical complications, diabetic patients are at high risk of suffering a wide spectrum of psychological disorders as negative emotions. Aim: To evaluate and compare the effectiveness of Reiki and Qi-gong therapy techniques in improving diabetic patients’ negative emotional states. This quas-experimental research design was carried out at the National Institute of Diabetes and Endocrinology’s Hospital in Cairo, Egypt. It included 200 Type 2 diabetes patients randomized into two equal groups, one for Qigong and one for Reiki techniques. A self-administered questionnaire with a standardized tool (Depression Anxiety Stress Scales [DASS[) was used in data collection. The intervention programs were administered in the form of instructional guidelines through eight sessions for each group. The results showed that the two study groups had similar socio-demographic characteristics. After implementation of the intervention, most patients in the two groups were having no anxiety, no depression, and no stress. Statistically significant improvements in all three parameters in both groups (p<0.001). The multivariate analysis identified the study intervention as the main statistically significant independent negative predictor of the patients’ scores of anxiety, depression, and stress. Reiki technique was also a statistically significant independent negative predictor of these scores. Both Reiki and Qi-gong therapy techniques were effective in improving diabetic patients’ negative emotional states of anxiety, depression, and stress, with slight superiority of the Reiki technique. The inclusion of these techniques in the management plans of Type-2 diabetic patients is recommended.","PeriodicalId":320622,"journal":{"name":"Assiut Scientific Nursing Journal","volume":"84 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140395444","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
