Purpose: This study aims to assess the accuracy of vaginal fluid urea and creatinine for the diagnosis of premature rupture of membranes and preterm premature rupture of membranes. Patients and Methods: A total of 90 pregnant women were included in the current study, between completed 28 weeks to completed 40 weeks of gestation, divided into two equal groups: 45 pregnant women with PPROM or PROM diagnosed by pooling of fluid in posterior fornix and 45 pregnant women who are attending the outpatient clinic for routine antenatal care, each group had the posterior vaginal fornix irrigated with 5ml saline and aspirated then assessed for urea and creatinine concentration. Early detection of pulmonary congestion is an essential aim for the avoidance of congestive heart failure in high-risky cases. Aim and objectives; To assess the role of chest ultrasound in the detection of lung congestion in patients with chronic renal failure under regular hemodialysis. Subjects and methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted at the nephrology department, Aswan university hospital, on 100 patients undergoing regular hemodialysis for at least more than 6 months. Demographic data, echocardiographic, and laboratory investigations were collected. Moreover, chest US was done and IVC diameter was measured predialysis and post- dialysis. Results ; The study included 100 patients; their mean age was 43.66 ±7.6. 52(52%) patients were male,47(47%) were hypertensive and 37(37%) patients were diabetic. There was a substantial reduction in B-Kerley’s lines post dialysis (p<0.001) and there was a substantial change in IVC diameter measurements before and after dialysis (p<0.001). Conclusion ; Chest US is a quick bed-side examination and a non-invasive dependable method for the evaluation of pulmonary congestion in in patients with chronic renal failure under regular hemodialysis.","PeriodicalId":320375,"journal":{"name":"Aswan University Medical Journal","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127318119","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The septum preservation has been studied in the literature in the context of surgical management of breast hypertrophy to maintain the nipple-areola complex (NAC) sensation. Objective: To evaluate operative experience of preserving the Würinger’s septum. And to evaluate the postoperative patients’ satisfaction Methodology: This study was conducted on 30 women who were scheduled for oncoplastic breast surgery or breast reduction. Preservation of the septum was achieved by careful dissection and gentle manoeuvres. At 3-month postoperative, questionnaire was given to the patients to assess the postoperative satisfaction. Results: This study was conducted on 30 women who underwent breast surgery for breast hypertrophy ( n =20) and early-stage breast cancer ( n =10); six women with breast hypertrophy, and four women without hypertrophy. The postoperative patients’ questionnaire at 3 months postoperatively most women had tendency to accept their breast shapes without braces ( n =28, 93.4%) and with braces ( n =29, 96.7%).Two (6.7%) women were found to have partial NAC loss at 3-month postoperative, none of them were among the cases of women with bilateral breast hypertrophy. Conclusions: Preserving the Würinger’s septum in surgeries for early-stage breast cancer and in breast hypertrophy is non-time consuming surgery and it maintains NAC vascularity and sensation.","PeriodicalId":320375,"journal":{"name":"Aswan University Medical Journal","volume":"198 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134062968","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Purpose: This study aims to evaluate the association between A1 immunohistochemical (IHC) FOX expression in epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) and its relation to their prognosis, as well as its association with other established prognostic indicators like patient's age, tumor laterality, histological subtype, grade and stage, and aims to validate the role of IHC-FOX A1 expression as a prognostic marker in female patients with EOC in Egypt. Patients and Methods: From January 2017 to January 2019 a total of 52 paraffin embedded blocks from patients with EOC were collected. Two serial sections from each tissue block were cut at 4 microns thickness to be used as follows: first section was stained with routine Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) to confirm the histologic diagnosis and tumor grade. The second was treated with FOX A1 antibodies to show its expression. Results: High significant relation was detected between advanced patient's age, high tumor grade, advanced stages, tumors with ruptured capsule and ascites and FOX A1 expression regardless tumor laterality. Conclusion: IHC-FOX A1 in EOC is considered a poor prognostic parameter as it is expressed in more than 70% of cases of EOC, significantly with advanced patient's age, high tumor grade, advanced stage, tumors with ruptured capsule and ascites regardless tumor laterality. The results of the present study indicated that FOX A1 could be considered as a poor prognostic marker.","PeriodicalId":320375,"journal":{"name":"Aswan University Medical Journal","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131377700","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Results: Patients with asthma exacerbation were older, had longer disease duration and more likely to be males. Likewise, there was statistically significant difference between studied groups regarding family history of asthma. There was statistically significant difference between controlled and uncontrolled asthma as regard Stayed home from school due to respiratory symptoms/asthma, do not taking full part in physical education in school and have respiratory symptoms/asthma associated with physical education or sports. Conclusion: These findings suggest opportunities to improve asthma control.
