Batch processing and pipelined processing flow are introduced for reducing the processing time to enable real-time display. The proposed method is implemented on a software defined radio (SDR) platform. Two experiments using this system are described: one based on small human body motions and another one on hand gesture detection. The results from these experiments show that the proposed system can be used in a range of application scenarios such as eHealth, human-machine interaction and high accuracy indoor target tracking.","PeriodicalId":317910,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Radar Conference","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124606967","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Polarization and spatial diversity can provide useful information for specific and critical tasks such as the Automatic Target Recognition (ATR). In this paper the use of pseudo-Zernike moments applied to the full-polarimetric Gotcha dataset is presented. Specifically improved single platform ATR performance is demonstrated through the use of multiple observations.","PeriodicalId":317910,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Radar Conference","volume":"224 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130722455","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It uses FIR filters for signal correction. Correlations between TIADC output data and two different frequency shifted images of these data are used for mismatch estimation. This method has been evaluated in the case of 4-channel TIADCs but it can be extended to any number of channels.. Hardware implementation of this new algorithm was carried out and successfully tested at a 2.56 GHz sampling rate on both single tone and dual tone signals. Efficient spur cancellation (30 dB typically) using 3-tap filters for single tone signals and 7-tap filters for dual tone signals has been demonstrated.","PeriodicalId":317910,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Radar Conference","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129755532","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition to the general requirements for radar waveforms such as good resolution, low sidelobes, etc, MIMO radar waveforms also should possess good orthogonality. In this paper we give a brief overview of MIMO radar waveforms, which are classified into four categories: (1) time division multiple access (TDMA), (2) frequency division multiple access (FDMA), (3) Doppler division multiple access (DDMA), and (4) code division multiple access (CDMA). A special circulating MIMO waveform is also addressed The properties as well as application limitations of different waveforms are analyzed and compared. Some simulations results are also presented to illustrate the respective performance of different waveforms.","PeriodicalId":317910,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Radar Conference","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126633543","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, they may show poor cros-sambiguity properties when selected and assigned randomly which makes them poorly adapted to multiuser radar applications. In this paper, we propose a multiuser adaptation of phase coded Costas signals. In fact, this modified version of Costas signals consists in replacing Costas constant frequency sub-pulses with phase codes. This modification allows to suppress autocorrelation function grating lobes that appears when orthogonality condition of Costas codes is not satisfied. Furthermore, the later design adds a degree of freedom for a possible adaptation of these waveforms to a multiuser context. Indeed, in the current work, the subpulse phase codes are used to generate a set of waveforms with good cross-correlation properties. Specific conditions on these codes are stated in order to achieve the needed cross-correlation properties, using a same Costas code. The auto-ambiguity and cross-ambiguity properties are also remarkable but within a bounded Doppler region. Furthermore, the families are expanded using different Costas codes with particular properties. Hence, since the phase codes and Costas codes diversity are used, the number of synthesized waveforms is improved.","PeriodicalId":317910,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Radar Conference","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125385456","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system is also worth to provide two interesting properties, first to serve as donor to passive radar, second to provide a specific space coding, used for the navigation and that will be precisely explored to localize targets detected in a passive radar mode. VOR is also interesting as it operates in the lower VHF band, a frequency band highly coveted for its counter stealth properties and high detectability of air targets. The paper addresses the potential of this kind of transmitter, considered solely and also in a multistatic configuration.","PeriodicalId":317910,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Radar Conference","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128266612","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In such context, the corresponding LR adaptive filters used to detect a target require less training vectors than classical methods to reach equivalent performance. Unlike the classical filter which is based on the Covariance Matrix (CM) of the noise, the LR filter is based on the clutter subspace projector, which is usually derived from a Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) of a noise CM estimate. Regarding to the considered model of LR-CG plus WGN, recent results are providing both direct estimators of the clutter subspace [1][2] and an exact MLE of the noise CM [3]. To promote the use of these new estimation methods, this paper proposes to apply them to realistic STAP simulations.","PeriodicalId":317910,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Radar Conference","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130735344","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The idea is to build a system using an array of antennas that can automatically reconfigure itself to focus its radiance on a desired target. This new microwave sensor is intended to detect and characterize a target buried in a medium that can be inhomogeneous in various fields like geophysics, medical, planetology, .... The aim is illustrated by analytical simulations using the DORT method. The instrumental developments are described, with numerical validations of the principle of misalignment of the antenna beam.
