Therefore, the integration of the information both from acceleration sensors and site conditions from microzoning studies allows the estimation of the possible extent of the damage in quasi-real time. In this study, the implementation of a system to evaluate seismic parameters in a uniform grid of 250 x 250 m2 resolution is reported. In this regard, peak ground acceleration (PGA) values from the available time-history records are computed and reduced to the engineering bedrock level. Then, by means of the interpolation technique called Ordinary Kriging, in which each seismic station is considered as a random variable and the correlation between a pair of such random variables depends only on the distance between their coordinates, the acceleration distribution is evaluated. Amplification factors are applied in order to finally bring the PGA up to the surface level. A quantitative evaluation of the accuracy of our results is performed using two recent earthquakes with moment magnitude larger than 5: the 2019 Mw 8.0 Lagunas earthquake and 2021 Mw 6.0 Mala earthquake. The results have reproduced to some extent the seismic response of the diverse geomorphological deposits in Metropolitan Lima and suggest the inclusion of a larger number of strong motion stations in order to reduce the estimation errors.","PeriodicalId":31729,"journal":{"name":"Tecnia","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42328227","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, it is necessary to study design conditions for partially saturated subgrade. The present research aims to implement the spectrum of RAMCODES design curves for unsaturated subgrade soils, applied to the design of flexible pavements under environmental and traffic conditions associated with the Oyon-Ambo highway. To construct the RAMCODES design curves, CBR tests were performed by varying compaction energies and moisture contents. Likewise, using the OriginPro 2019 program, the curves were obtained and a mathematical model was used to predict the variation of the degree of saturation in the subgrade over time. Subsequently, the seasonal CBR were obtained and correlated to obtain the resilient moduli. Finally, two flexible pavement structure designs were carried out, one using the traditional subgrade characterization methodology and the other according to the proposed methodology. From the results obtained, it is interpreted that the consideration of the unsaturated behavior of the subgrade optimizes the pavement design since the bearing capacity of the subgrade is increased by 28.8%, which means that the thickness of the subbase layer is reduced by 25%.","PeriodicalId":31729,"journal":{"name":"Tecnia","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68197844","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

En este trabajo, un puente no aislado de varios tramos fue reacondicionado para alcanzar una funcionalidad continua mediante la adopción de dispositivos de aislamiento sísmico. Con el objetivo de realizar una evaluación comparativa, se analizó el puente utilizando dispositivos de aislación del tipo elastomérico y deslizante. En este caso de estudio se escogió el aislador Elastomérico con Núcleo de Plomo (LRB) y el aislador Friccional de Triple Péndulo (TFPB) como modelos representativos. Para el diseño de ambos aisladores, se consideró que los valores de los periodos aislados, la rigidez post-fluencia y la fuerza de fluencia sean similares. Este criterio se adoptó con el fin de comparar los efectos únicos de cada tipo de aislador en la respuesta sísmica del puente. Se realizaron una serie de análisis dinámicos no lineales considerando las dos componentes del movimiento horizontal del suelo para realizar una evaluación comparativa. Se adoptaron modelos numéricos que consideran la respuesta bidireccional y describan las diferentes etapas de movimiento de los aisladores. Se consideraron análisis de límites superiores e inferiores para obtener una comprensión completa de la respuesta inducida por cada sistema de aislamiento. De los resultados, se concluye que el sistema LRB induce una distribución más uniforme de las fuerzas sísmicas en la subestructura; pero experimenta mayores desplazamientos en comparación con el sistema TFPB.","PeriodicalId":31729,"journal":{"name":"Tecnia","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42022033","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For instance, the capacity of a road bridge network after a seismic event to carry traffic flow depends on the degree of expected damage and the related repair costs and downtime. This paper determines the degree of vulnerability of highway bridges to the action of probable earthquakes during the structure's lifetime by applying the capacity spectrum assessment method known as FRACAS (FRAgility through CApacity Spectrum assessment). This approach allows fragility curves to be obtained from analyzing a structure subjected to a series of seismic records of different characteristics. In this way, the method can explain the effect of variability in seismic demand and structural characteristics on the damage statistics simulated for the type of structure and evaluate the associated uncertainty in predicting fragility. As a case study, it is applied the methodology described in the evaluation of the Moche bridge, located in the region of La Libertad (Peruvian coast), which is in an Operational damage state according to an in situ inspection. From the seismic vulnerability assessment, it is obtained that until earthquakes with accelerations of 1.7g, the Moche bridge has a 60% probability of incursion into a Life Safety damage state, being the probability of incursion into a Collapse damage state less than 10%. This methodology is recommended to determine the reliability of bridges, considering the cumulative damage due to probable seismic events during the bridges' lifetime.","PeriodicalId":31729,"journal":{"name":"Tecnia","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41820016","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the last years, new ways of elaboration with different materials have been searched, in order to improve its mechanical properties, including the fiber reinforced concrete. The study of its strain-stress mechanical properties of fiber reinforced concrete under monotonic load is the objective of this investigation, based on experimental tests performed in 90 samples, taking into account the influence of many factors, such as: Compression strength design, sample section geometry (square or circular section), slenderness (height/depth ratio), and the comparison of the reinforced concrete with its equivalent plain concrete in terms of mix design. From the experimental results, the use of fiber reinforcement increases the deformation capacity of the concrete under monotonic compression, but its resistance is not improved significantly. On the other hand, square section specimens have a higher deformation capacity for slenderness 1:2 and 1:3 in comparison with circular section specimens.","PeriodicalId":31729,"journal":{"name":"Tecnia","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48216202","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The semiactive control devices that have received great attention in recent years are magnetorheological (MR) fluid dampers due to their mechanical simplicity, high dynamic range, large temperature operating range and low power requirements. In the present research work, Matlab and Simulink are used as computational tools for the modeling and simulation of structural control systems with magnetorheological dampers (MRDs). To begin with, the modeling is carried out through simulink block diagrams of the governing differential equations of representative mathematical models of MRDs. Next, a series of simulations is performed in order to replicate experimental results and to be able to validate the modeling step. Finally, the MRDs are integrated together with a semiactive control algorithm and an idealized ten-degrees-of-freedom structure. The main expected outcome is the reduction of the seismic response (response histories, drifts, shear forces and overturning moments).","PeriodicalId":31729,"journal":{"name":"Tecnia","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41691472","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Particularmente, los terremotos son generados por la interacción de las placas de Nazca y Sudamérica conocida como proceso de subducción y de fallas poco profundas. Asimismo, otro gran problema que atraviesa el Perú es la informalidad en la construcción, que sumado a un gran terremoto, podría traer consigo grandes pérdidas económicas y vidas humanas. Por tanto, estos problemas han motivado el desarrollo de esta investigación, que tiene como objetivo evaluar el riesgo sísmico de edificaciones en el distrito de Ayacucho - Perú. En este sentido, la amenaza sísmica probabilística se evalúa mediante el programa R-CRISIS, acompañado de estudios geofísicos como MASW (Análisis Multicanal de Ondas Superficiales) que permiten caracterizar el suelo a partir de velocidades de ondas de corte. Además, la vulnerabilidad sísmica de las edificaciones se evalúa mediante el método del índice de vulnerabilidad, el cual se basa en once parámetros esenciales que caracterizan la susceptibilidad de las edificaciones a sufrir daños tras la ocurrencia de un terremoto. Finalmente, la evaluación del riesgo sísmico se realiza mediante el uso de funciones de vulnerabilidad y los resultados se reflejan en mapas representativos para diferentes escenarios sísmicos, que se elaboran utilizando los Sistemas de Información Geográfica (SIG). Los resultados muestran grandes pérdidas económicas y vidas humanas que se producirían por diferentes intensidades sísmicas en el distrito de Ayacucho. Además, más del 50% de los edificios podrían sufrir daños fuertes o severos durante la ocurrencia de un terremoto raro cuyo período de retorno es de 475 años.","PeriodicalId":31729,"journal":{"name":"Tecnia","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44431653","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

El presente trabajo trata sobre los efectos sísmicos sobre las estructuras subterráneas ubicadas en zonas altamente sísmicas, como la costa del Perú. Se empleó el programa de cómputo FLAC para realizar varios análisis dinámicos de estructuras subterráneas de sección rectangular, considerando condiciones de borde de tipo campo libre y el comportamiento no lineal e inelástico del suelo ante siete sismos ajustados a un mismo espectro objetivo. Dichos análisis se llevaron a cabo variando factores como el tipo de suelo (homogéneo o estratificado), la geometría y espesores de la estructura y el periodo de retorno del sismo. Se ha encontrado que cuando la estructura está implantada en suelo homogéneo las fuerzas y desplazamientos presentas poca variación. Sin embargo, cuando la estructura está en suelo heterogéneo los resultados muestran variaciones importantes. De manera que el ajuste a un mismo espectro elástico no implica uniformizar la demanda sísmica. La geometría de la estructura y el espesor de los muros tienen considerable influencia. En suelos heterogéneos las estructuras muy flexibles pueden tener grandes deformaciones que implicarían niveles de daño importante.","PeriodicalId":31729,"journal":{"name":"Tecnia","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44592627","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this context, seismic structural health monitoring presents an opportunity to assess rapidly buildings after a great earthquake and protect inhabitant from those buildings with high risk of collapse due to aftershocks. A basic seismic structural health monitoring arrangement of a fifteenth-floor residential building is presented using a low-cost sensor called Raspberry Shake 4D. The implemented sensor incorporates both a vertical velocity geophone and three orthogonally positioned microelectromechanical systems accelerometers. The building is a reinforced concrete shear walls structure located in Comas, north of Lima. More than thirty seismic events have been recorded, including the Mw 8.0 Lagunas earthquake (05/26/2019) and the Mw 5.8 (22/06/2021) with epicentral distances of 709 km and 94 km, respectively. Acceleration as high as 150 cm/s2 and as low as 2 cm/s2 have been recorded. It was possible to obtain fundamental frequencies of vibration in longitudinal and transversal directions of the building from the response calculated using the wavelet transform that have a good agreement with results of microtremor measurements performed at different floors. The computed scalograms for seismic records showed important values of energy amplitudes for the fundamental frequencies of the building. The current number of instrumentations in Lima city provides an opportunity to improve soil characterization. This study aims to determine the dominant frequency (fd) of the seismic stations located in Metropolitan Lima. The procedure we adopted, first considered collecting, for an arbitrary station, all the available events recorded from 2011-2021, including the 2007 Mw 7.9 Pisco earthquake. Then, the pseudo spectral acceleration, using 5% damping, for each component were computed, and the horizontal-to-vertical (H/V) spectral ratios were calculated. Finally, the average H/V spectral ratio was used to adequately characterize the values of fd . In total, we evaluated 51 stations throughout Lima city. Values of fd lower than 1 Hz were observed for the coastal areas in which the underlying soil consist of clayey/sandy deposits and regions with an important impedance contrast in the deeper part of the substructure.
