{"title":"Developing nationalism character-based children's literature module to increase Islamic elementary school students' critical thinking","authors":"Hajarudin Al Fikri","doi":"10.18326/MDR.V10I2.166-187","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.18326/MDR.V10I2.166-187","url":null,"abstract":"This study aims at producing a literature module of children based on nationalism character to improve the critical thinking ability of fourth grade students MIN Boyolali, and measuring the effectiveness of the module use in classroom toward critical thinking ability of fourth grade students MIN Boyolali. Set within the research and development type, this study adapts 10 (ten) stages of development procedure as formulated by Borg and Gall (1983). The subjects of the research were students and teachers of grade IV MIN Boyolali. Data collection was conducted through interview and observation, product validation, teacher and student response questionnaire, and performance of pre-test and post-test—which was analyzed using independent sample t-test. Meanwhile, product effectiveness was tested through quasi experiment. The result of the research showed that the module was categorized as “fit” by material and language expert; while the media expert categorized it as \"very fit\". In the other hand, teacher and student responses to the use of learning module were categorized as \"excellent\". {"title":"Inclusive education in Islamic kindergarten, why not?","authors":"M. Hidayatulloh","doi":"10.18326/mdr.v9i2.145-162","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.18326/mdr.v9i2.145-162","url":null,"abstract":"This work shows the implementation of inclusive education in Islamic Kindergarten Taruna al-Qur’an (IKTQ), the assessment of child development in inclusive class, and supporting and restriction of the implementation of inclusive education in IKTQ. This qualitative descriptive research used observation, interview, and documentation as the technique of collecting data. The results are only the ABK with less in terms of social skills that were included in the non-ABK class. IKTQ pointed the special guides that monitored the development of ABK. The development of the child was assessed through observations and notes. These notes were documented as reports of child development communicated to the parents. The assessment did not touch the ABKs who joined in learning with other children. The development of ABK was assessed when they were in a special place of ABK therapy. The factors supported the implementation of inclusive education in IKTQ were: (1) the communication between teachers and ABK guides, (2) a good relationship through weekly meeting for all teachers, and (3) the communication between IKTQ and parents either verbally or through a liaison document. There were three schools involved in the research:  SMP N 1 Salatiga, Salatiga SMP N 6, and SMP Muhammadiyah Salatiga. This is quantitative research with purposive sampling technique. The data collecting technique were questionnaires, test and documents. Questionnaires were to see the relation between students’ achievement motivation and expectation while test was used to gain data for learning achievement on PAI. The instruments for questionnaire were tested using validity and reliability test, normality test, autocorrelation test, F test, and coefficient determinant test. The data analysis used regression techniques. The findings of the research show that independent variables of achievement motivation (X1) and expectations (X2) influence the dependent variable of learning achievement (Y) by Y’ = 48.866 + 0.04 X1  + 0.258 X2 . The study as designed as a research survey using quantitative methods (implementing partial regression or double recreation). The respondents are the fifth-grade students of SD Negeri Jetis I and SD Negeri Nampu I Karangrayung. The findings show that (1) there is a positive influence of school environment in SD Negeri Jetis I and SD Negeri Nampu I Karangrayung toward the students’ learning achievement as much as 2.7%. Research method used in this study is case study in which the researcher is trying to find out how the process of strengthening Islamic character through mathematics learning. This research was carried out at MA Nurul Ummah Kotagede Yogyakarta which has innovatively implemented mathematics learning using various methods through interactive learning multimedia which is integrated with strengthening Islamic character. It is a descriptive qualitative research which is conducted in January-March 2017. Career women who have school-aged children in Jatiroto village are the subjects in this study, while their husbands, children and neighbors pose as the informants. The data are collected by interview, observation and documentation. Triangulation is used to validate the data. They are analysed with interactive models include four stages, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. The results show that the roles of career women (mothers) toward children’s whorship education are a) the educational backgrounds of career women consist of the degrees of Islamic High School ( Madrasah Aliyah ) and Islamic Boarding School ( Pesantren ) so that they can educate children in daily basis worship despite having dual roles, b) career women show a good attitude and become models in any aspects especially worship, c) the environment created by the career women in their family is very comfortable and suitable with the needs of children. Keywords: roles of career women, children’s worship education Abstrak Tujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peran wanita karier dalam memberikan pendidikan ibadah pada anak-anaknya ditengah-tengah kesibukannya berkarier. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian dilaksanakan bulan Januari-Maret 2017. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah wanita karier yang memiliki anak usia sekolah dasar yang ada di dusun Jatiroto, sedangkan untuk informannya adalah suami, anak dan tetangga. Data dikumpulkan dengan wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Teknik keabsahan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Trianggulasi. Adapun teknik analisis data dengan model interaktif meliputi empat tahap, yaitu pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan atau verifikasi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, menunjukkan bahwa menunjukkan bahwa Peran wanita karier (ibu) terhadap pendidikan ibadah anak adalah a) latar belakang pendidikan wanita karier (ibu) terdiri dari Lulusan Madrasah Aliyah dan Pesantren sehingga dapat mendidik anak dalam hal ibadah sehari-hari walaupun memiliki peran ganda, b) wanita karier (ibu) menunjukkan sikap yang baik dan dapat menjadi teladan dalam segala hal khususnya dalam hal ibadah sehingga bisa menjadi model bagi anak, c) lingkungan yang diciptakan wanita karier (ibu) dalam keluarga sangat nyaman dan cocok dengan kebutuhan anak. The key of the integration in controlling and restoring science and technology to its original position, namely: amar ma'ruf, nahi munkar , and having faith in God. This study aims to determine the integration of Islamic education with science and technology in SMP Islam Al-Azhar 21 Solo Baru. By using qualitative descriptive method and also through triangulation technique to test the validity of data, the study is also aimed to search and arrange systematically the data obtained. The data is taken from interviews, field, and documentation by organizing data into categories, describing them into units, synthesizing, preparing into the pattern, classifying the important things that will be learned, and then making a conclusion. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the observation result of creativity of the students showed that the smooth aspect of the students who have excellent category is 41.28% and the results of the flexibility aspect of the students who have excellent category is 36.69%. The observation results indicate that the detail aspect of the students who have excellent category is 33.98%. Keywords: Islamic Education, Science, Technology Abstrak Integrasi pendidikan agama Islam dengan sains dan teknologi pembelajaran yang dilaksanakan diharapkan menjadi lebih bermakna dan mudah dipahami. {"title":"Factors determining students’ learning creativity in SMPN 9 Surakarta","authors":"Ayu Nabila Akifah Noor","doi":"10.18326/mdr.v9i1.120-143","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.18326/mdr.v9i1.120-143","url":null,"abstract":"The research aims at finding out the determinant factors of: 1) students’ learning creativity; 2) school quality; 3) students’ personality; 4) the correlation between school quality with the students’ learning creativity; 5) the correlation between students’ personality with students’ learning creativity; and 6) the correlation between school qualities with students’ personality. The data used data were derived from VIII students of SMP Negeri 9 Surakarta. The sample was 161 students out of 277 students of the population. The sample were from 9 classes and determined by proporsional random sampling technique. The data gathered thorugh questionnaire, measuring  the students’ learning creativity, the school quality, and the students’ personality. The analysis employed LISREL PROGRAM of 8.54 version.The results of the research showed that:1) there were five determinant factors of learning creativity, namely sensitivity toward problem, the fluency in producing a new idea, the flexibelity in expressing solution, the originality in formulating the idea, and the detail in analyzing the idea; 2) there were seven determinant factors of school quality, namely teacher quality, teaching quality, quality of administration services, students’ commitments, parents support, resources accessibility, and learning comfort; 3) there were eight determinant factors of students’ personality, namely self confident, initiative, competitive, adaptive, responsive, challenge lover, risk taker, and persistency; 4) there was a positive and significant correlation between school quality and students’ personality; 5) there was positive but not significant correlation between school quality and students’ learning creativity; and 6) there was positive and not significant correlation between students’ personality and students’ learning creativity.
