Amir, Ahmad Faruk","doi":"10.21043/fikrah.v10i2.17189","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.21043/fikrah.v10i2.17189","url":null,"abstract":"This paper explores Abdul Karim Soroush's contribution to the dialogue between religious and scientific knowledge and its consequences for the humanist-anthropocentric development of religious knowledge. Documentation procedures were used to collect the data, which were subsequently examined using content analysis techniques. After doing an analysis, the author draws three conclusions: Soroush first equated religious knowledge and non-religious knowledge. The two are interdependent and will continue to evolve. Therefore, Soroush encouraged conversation so that religious understanding is constantly contextual. Soroush's second argument for the interaction between religious knowledge and science was based on the principle of shrinkage and development. The doctrine of contraction and expansion was inspired by Surah al-Baqarah 245 and the Sufi tradition. Thirdly, Soroush thought religious knowledge would undergo evolution and refinement while conversing with non-religious information. So this research presents its novelty with an explanation of how modern radicalism develops, Ibn Taymiyya’s fatwas which are used as the theological foundations of the radicals, and how Jihadists read Ibn Taymiyyah’s Mardin Fatwa to legitimate their actions. This qualitative research used the primary sources of Ibn Taymiyyah’s works and secondary sources from his students and the Taymiyyan studies as well to enrich the argument of the researcher to result in the conclusion that several statements are quoted and used by the Jihadists to legitimate their radical actions; Anti-Mongol Fatwas I, II, and III, as well as Mardin fatwa with erroneous interpretations and not in accordance with the context behind the issuance of the fatwa. Like Mardin fatwa, for example how radicals read peace and war zones by correlating Islamic government with dar al-silm and conventional government that is not based on Islamic law with dar al-ḥarb then consequently it must be fought as the radicalist did against Egyptian President Anwar Sadat. As rational animals, humans can process and solve their problems and strengthen the nature and purpose of their lives. This study aims to describe Karl Theodor Jaspers' views about humans from the perspective of philosophy, i.e., the enlightenment of existence and boundary situations. This article is descriptive qualitative philosophical research relays on a literature study. Literature data, primary and secondary, were analyzed using the philosophical hermeneutic method concerning verstehen and interpretation. This study shows that existentialism does not preoccupy the \"eternal nature\" of human beings because that nature is considered something that does not yet exist. Human \"essence\" is determined in human \"existence.\" The \"essence\" is \"becoming,\" which is unique to humans. Human existence can be seen in several theses, including unique and not objectified, \"I\" as a possible existence depends on its relationship with other existences, and existence has freedom. One of the issues of his study is the Rohingya Muslims. As refugees with Islamic religious identities, their existence is interesting to examine from the perspective of religious communities around the refuge. This study was conducted in the Aceh, Medan, and Makassar regions as the places most visited by Rohingya Muslim groups. This research uses a qualitative approach with case studies. This is intended to be able to map how the response of religious communities to the existence of Rohingya Muslims. The main finding is that the existence of Rohingya Muslims in the three regions has different responses given by various people around them. The cultural basis and religious relations are decisive. In Aceh, strong religious relations resulted in a different response for Rohingya Muslims compared to those in Medan and Makassar, whose backgrounds were more diverse. The location of the comparison is that in Aceh the response based on ukhuwah Islamiyah is more dominant, while in Medan and Makassar the humanitarian response and a firm line of state identity are important signs in responding to the existence of Rohingya Muslims. The Kajang people are taught to live simply and preserve the natural surroundings by being honest, curbing lust, not harming others, and not being materialistic. Local wisdom as part of the practical rationale in spatial planning policies that complement scientific knowledge should be considered as a local potential that can be collaborated and communicated. The context of spatial planning policy is not only physical, but also regulates human behavior as the main factor that has an influence on space. Spatial planning policies regulate the form of social structures and interactions between community groups, referred to as governance which includes the authority of customary leaders, rules, sanctions, and social fines to form a value system that regulates the ethics of evaluating good and bad and the right and wrong of a thought and action. Hans-Georg Gadamer's theory is used to interpret the Koran through its hermeneutical style of thinking which has a philosophical-productive nuance. Meanwhile, Fakhruddin al-Razi is a popular interpretation scholar who often carries out theological debates among rationalists and traditionalists through his logical ideas. This study departs from the concept of Islam kaffah which is warmly echoed by religious activists as a theological discourse to welcome Muslims to return to \"complete Islam\". To reveal a message that is more meaningful than the literal meaning of Islam kaffah, the purpose of this study begins by elaborating the basic theories of Hans-George Gadamer's hermeneutics, then using them as an analytical knife in reading the concept of Islam kaffah from the perspective of Fakhruddin al-Razi in Q.S al-Baqarah [2]: 208. This type of study is qualitative with a literature approach. The data collection method uses documentation techniques, while the data analysis method uses a philosophical approach.
