This problem was caused by some factors; one of them was the technique of teaching that only focused on the teacher. As a result, the students were not active in teaching learning process. Research method that was used in this research was a quasi-experiment with pre-test post-test control group design. Technique of teaching applied was Think Pair Share. The population of this research was the eleventh grade English department students of SMK Pelayaran Putra Samudera Yogyakarta in academic year 2015/2016 with the total number of students was 50. The sample of this research was XIA with 25 students as experimental class and XIB with 25 students as control class, that were chosen by using purposive sampling. Instrument used in collecting the data was speaking test. The result of the test was analyzed by using t-test. From that test, it was found that tcalculated was higher than t-table, where t-calculated was 3.624 and t-table was 2.011. Thus, Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. There were many problems such as mistype, inappropriate content or material, and so on which were found inside the book. Then, the module used by the students should be evaluated on the content to know whether the book met the criteria of good module or not. The research was about case study using content analysis as the method. It used textbook evaluation criteria from Cunningsworth which contained ten aspects of evaluation and compared with the criteria of evaluation from Hutchinson and Waters. The evaluation concerned on the content such as language content and skill, the organization and appearance of the book. The result from Cunningsworth checklist showed that the book got 74. 25% which considered as good book. While the result from Hutchinson and Waters showed 78. 57%. The aspect which got low percentage was vocabulary and reading material, while the rest were considered as good. From evaluation using two concepts from Cunningsworth which compared with the evaluation criteria by Hutchinson and Waters showed a little bit difference. The result showed differences in range 4. 32%. This was Research and Development (RD (1) Analysis; (2) Design; (3) Development; (4) Implementation; (5) Evaluation. This research involved 32 students of grade tenth of SMAN 1 Sedayu. To gain the Needs Analysis (NA), the researcher used observation, questionnaire, interview, and documentation. This researcher found a learning software program namely English Learning Interactive Multimedia (ELIM) based on the 2013 curriculum. It consists of two unit materials; ‘Malin Kundang’, and ‘Let Us Sing a Song’. It was appropriate with the 2013 Curriculum and Needs Analysis based on (1) a media and content expert judgment from Mercu Buana University of Yogyakarta; (2) the Focus Group Discussion from English teacher and students of SMA N 1 Sedayu; (3) the results of pre-test and posttest in two cycles which showed an improvement. Many students cannot understand their materials because they have perception that studying English is very difficult for them. Writing is one of important components in language skills. On the other hand, it is considered difficult by learners including the students of SMA N 1 Sedayu especially class X IIS 3. The students’ writing achievement was still low. To solve this problem, the researcher did the classroom action research. The objectives of this research are describing the improvement of students’ writing skill through recount text using picture series, analyzing the students’ interests in writing skill through recount text using picture series, and finding out how far the improvement of the students using picture series in writing skill through recount text. This research involved 32 students from tenth grade of SMA N 1 Sedayu. In this research, to get the data researcher gave questionnaires, did observation, interview and tests. A classroom action research was used in this research to overcome student’s problem in writing skill. The mean in pre-test and post-test showed a different number. The mean of the pre-test was 61.7 which was still low score because the KKM is 75. Afterwards, the researcher conducted the next treatment, then did post-test and the mean of the students’ score was increased into 77,7. There were three objectives that were formulated by the writer, 1) to discuss the characterization of the Eloi and Morlock, 2) to present the conflict between Eloi and Morlock, 3) to discuss the class struggle between the upper and lower class in accomplishing their desire as represented by character Eloi and Morlock. In analyzing this novel the writer used the socio-cultural-historical and biographical approach and also the library research to analyze this novel. There were two main character in the novel that represented the upper and lower classes in nineteenth century. They had conflict since hundreds years ago that was the lower class were oppressed by the upper class. It made them bare and did the struggle. This struggle came from the economical, ideological and political background. Since the economical struggle that was increasing the wage and shorting the work hours was not approved, they made the ideological struggle. This struggle found the perfect way to control the upper class. After that, they did the political struggle that served the upper as the cattle and prey them. They also changed the rule which was oppressed to oppress. This qualitative research is written to analyze the conflicts that happen in Afghan society which is mainly caused by difference of social class. The research is conducted by using library research. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method as the data are described in the form of sentences. The steps of collecting the data in this research are reading both the novel and the supporting theories related, analyzing, organizing and displaying the data to allow conclusions to be drawn. The results show that the society in the twentieth is fundamentally separated by two large groups namely Pashtun and Hazara. They are inhabit Afghanistan as told in The Kite Runner. However, the fact shows that they are still weak in Grammar especially tenses. Therefore, the researchers initiate to develop a video as a media to teach tenses. Objectively, by using video, students get better understanding on tenses so that they can communicate using English accurately and contextually. To develop the video, the researchers used ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). First, the researchers analyzed the students’ learning need to determine the product that would be developed, in this case was a movie about English tenses. Then, the researchers developed a video as the product. The product then was validated by media expert who validated attractiveness, typography, audio, image, and usefulness and content expert and validated by a content expert who validated the language aspects and tenses of English used by the actors in the video dealing with the grammar content, pronunciation, and fluency performed by the actors. The result of validation shows that the video developed was considered good. Theoretically, it is appropriate to be used English Grammar classes. The research design of this study was classroom action research. The subjects were 20 engineering students from Telecommunication Study Program of Semarang State Polytechnic. The study was conducted by doing observation, giving pre test and posttest and questionnaire. The actions were conducted in three cycles. The findings showed that the implementation of demonstration strategy using modeling videos was able to improve the engineering students’ self-confidence and practice in their presentation skills. First, the students were actively involved in the teaching learning process. It could be seen from the result of observation sheet done by the researcher. There was an improvement of 3.3 points. This research applied Classroom Action Research proposed by Kemmis and McTaggart (2000) with two cycles. Each cycle consisted of a pre-test, treatments, and post-tests. It involved 31 students of XI IPA 3 class in SMAN 1 Seyegan as the research subjects. The result of this research showed that English movies could make the students interested in following the English class. It was proven by the students who became more active to talk in English and did not feel shy or reluctant to share their thoughts. Another result showed that the students‟ average score was gradually improved from 58.08 in the pretest became 65.74 and 74.78 in the first and second post-tests. It can be concluded that English movies is effective to be implemented as an alternative teaching and learning media to teach English speaking skill. Therefore, English teachers are recommended to use English movies to optimize the English learning outcome not only on speaking skill but also other skills. This study is a quasi-experimental study employing two groups. The experimental group is 8A and the control group is 8C. The data were collected by using an achievement test. The data of both pre-test and post-test scores from the control and experimental groups were analyzed by using inferential statistics. To test the hypothesis, the researcher used t-test to find out the differences of speaking skill mastery achievement between control and experimental groups. The result of post-test indicates that t o is higher than the t value at the significance level of 5%, i.e. 2.106<2.000. The level significance is 0.037. It is lower than 0.05. It was found that the mean of the post-test scores and gained scores of the experimental group were higher than that of the control group. The standard deviation of the experimental group decreases from 7.30 to 6.92 or the scores of the experimental group from pre-test to post-test are more homogenous. While, the standard deviation of the control group increases from 7.53 to 8.36 or the scores of the control group from pre-test to post-test are more heterogeneous. Besides, the mean of experimental group increases 207% from the standard deviation of the pre-test. While the mean of the control group also increases 147% from the standard deviation of the pre-test.
