However, LSPs might encounter challenges when offering such FVAS, as the latter demand a different set of competencies that affect sales teams' qualifications and motivation. Against this background, we explore how LSPs' sales teams can be incentivised to support service portfolio extensions in the form of FVAS. The research methodology applied in this study follows a qualitative approach and includes 34 expert interviews. We find that most LSPs address incentive problems by adjusting sales teams' qualifications. Expert support, training and tools are common methods to incentivise sales teams that lack specific expertise. For stimulating motivation, awareness creation through data or personal engagement and monetary incentives are most relevant. LSPs can use the insights from this paper to identify the impact of portfolio extensions on the motivation and qualification of their sales personnel and implement adequate incentive systems.","PeriodicalId":315158,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Supply Chain and Operations Resilience","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127791096","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research aimed to fill the gap found in the literature related to educational supply chain management by interviewing four students and utilising the attitude towards objects model in order to answer the research question 'How can student's attitude impact educational supply chain?'. Additionally, the study adopted an interpretive phenomenology analysis to examine their answers and draw the necessary conclusions. Several factors such as recommendations, value for money, what the university offered, entry requirements and the city itself among other factors impacted students' attitude as well as their choice of the host country, university, and degree - thus creating a pull in demand on the university's education supply chain that universities aimed to fulfil in order to gain competitive advantage. Moreover, seasonality in terms of the university's ability to offer several cohorts in addition to the traditional September cohort was found to have a significant impact on the student's attitude and choice, thus also creating a demand-pull on the university's supply chain.","PeriodicalId":315158,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Supply Chain and Operations Resilience","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133349437","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Supply chains need to adopt new strategies to improve their abilities to respond quickly and effectively to unforeseen changes in markets and to the increasing levels of turbulence, thereby supporting the performance and competitiveness of companies. This article provides a review of the current literature on resilience and agility in supply chain management from the perspective of risk management in business management in global environments and proposes two approaches to resilience and agility. The perspectives contemplate a risk management, by means of the previous preparation to the disruptive event, a mitigation of the impact, a phase of recovery and finally the one of stabilisation.","PeriodicalId":315158,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Supply Chain and Operations Resilience","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115942268","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Given that 60% of the world population lives in cities, disaster risk reduction in towns is now a priority. We review the role of small to medium enterprises (SMEs) in disaster response. Traditionally, SMEs were seen as more susceptible to disasters due to lack of resources. Hence, large firms alone could contribute to disaster recovery. SMEs' growing numbers, proximity to disaster victims and the need for social responsibility informed this review. Thus, a framework for SMEs and technologies for use in a disaster response supply chain (DRSC) are crafted. Our findings show that despite their vulnerability, SMEs have a greater, active ancillary role to play today in disaster recovery than before. SMEs can now either donate material, information, finance and personnel (MIFP) or offer these at a price in DRSC so as to promote business continuity and a quick return to normalcy.","PeriodicalId":315158,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Supply Chain and Operations Resilience","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128808685","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is recognised in science and practice that the modelling of logistics processes is the first step in their optimisation. At the same time, well-known process modelling techniques are not suitable for every type of supply chain. This article uses two established frameworks to make recommendations regarding which modelling technique fits to which supply chain type. For example, BPMN or BPMN light can help lean processes, while flexible and collaborative supply chains more likely require BPM 2.0 and case management techniques. Practitioners can use these findings to apply the most promising process management technique for their business purposes. From the scientific point of view, this article focuses on the integration and process orientation of supply chains and fosters with it the necessity of corporate customer-centricity.","PeriodicalId":315158,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Supply Chain and Operations Resilience","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134507089","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The definition of resilience leads quite naturally to the use of dynamic analysis; and hence we examine the resilience of the chain through the study of the dynamic behaviour of the distribution warehouse at its downstream end, catering to its demand off-take and operating under a 'responsiveness' strategy. We derive the dynamic behaviour of the warehouse system under different dynamic replenishment control schemes and attempt to synthesise a modified dynamic control scheme to enhance its resilience and performance under such conditions. A notable feature of these dynamic controls is that they can be made pro-active as is shown in the paper. We then compare the system response with those of parallel systems closely related to the one studied in this paper and highlight the increased difficulty in controlling this system compared to the others.","PeriodicalId":315158,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Supply Chain and Operations Resilience","volume":"384 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117113469","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The fast-moving consumer goods supply chain under study is characterised by a large number of supply points (manufacturing plants) and a limited number of warehouses. It operates under the 'avoidance of missed demand' policy. The aim of this research is to develop a large-scale supply chain model that can enable supply chain managers in general and the manager of this supply chain in particular, to function under various circumstances. The model is formulated using mixed integer linear programming (MILP). The proposed model is verified and validated to assure accuracy and credibility. Model verification is done by the aid of data generated for supply chain networks with different sizes using MATLAB software. Validation of the model's assumptions, structure and objective is done through intensive discussion with supply chain experts from industry and academia. The paper discusses managerial and practical implications of the model.","PeriodicalId":315158,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Supply Chain and Operations Resilience","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130675400","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, even though a large number of narrative reviews exist on this topical body of material, no citation analysis (CA) has yet been conducted. This paper presents the first CA of the lean literature, and also represents the most extensive known CA study within the wider field. It uses ten search phrases over a source population of over 15,000 Google Scholar publications. These are filtered into a dataset of the 241 most highly cited publications on lean that account for an aggregated total of 98,829 citations. The research reveals a surprising degree of influence of academics within the supposedly a theoretical lean literature. US institutions dominate, with MIT being the most influential. Both practitioners and management consultants almost exclusively co-authoring with their own type. Japan has the second largest number of management consultant authors after the USA.","PeriodicalId":315158,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Supply Chain and Operations Resilience","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115340675","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Increasingly, literature reveals that existing solution approaches based on knowledge, science and technology may be necessary but are not sufficient. The volatility of the world proves that there is a need for interdisciplinary understanding of the role of wisdom in managing supply chains. To address this issue, the paper draws a link between wisdom and resilience with respect to a technology-driven future, environmental sustainability and economic growth. It is concluded that practical wisdom promotes supply chain resilience in a complex world.","PeriodicalId":315158,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Supply Chain and Operations Resilience","volume":"102 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129653770","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A structured questionnaire using a five-point Likert scale was employed to collect data from 110 supply chain managers working in Indian supply chains. The survey was conducted to examine the different exploration factors affecting an ambidextrous supply chain. Demographic details of the supply chain managers were also collected. Research hypotheses were also framed based on existing literature about ambidextrous supply chain and were statistically tested using structured equation modelling (SEM). The application of exploratory factor analysis (EFA) presented the existence of four constructs; three independent constructs of exploration and one dependent construct of ambidexterity. These four constructs were confirmed by the application of confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). After the confirmation of these constructs, the structured equation modelling (SEM) tested the formulated research hypotheses. SEM identified the exploration factors affecting an ambidextrous supply chain. The study is likely to provide supply chain managers significant understanding about the various exploration factors affecting an ambidextrous supply chain. This identification of various exploration factors affecting an ambidextrous supply chain will aid supply chain managers in formulating and executing their decisions appropriately.","PeriodicalId":315158,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Supply Chain and Operations Resilience","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123579853","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
