However, not all students can achieve maximum performance despite having a high IQ score. Many of the students do not show optimal results or they are usually called underachievers. Many backgrounds affect underachieving students. This study used descriptive statistical methods of 38 students of class X of SMK-SMAK Bogor to analyze the problem of underachieving students. The research results show that guidance is needed for underachieving students to be able to overcome their problem and obtain optimal learning achievement.","PeriodicalId":314841,"journal":{"name":"ProGCouns: Journal of Professionals in Guidance and Counseling","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126077035","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this study was to test the effectiveness of educational cinema techniques as a medium to increase students' low self-esteem. The research design used pre experimental research with one group pretest and posttest design. The research subjects were 16 students of class VIII SMPN 6 Malang, the subjects were selected using purposive sampling technique. Data collection used (1) self-confidence scale; (2) experimental guidelines and (3) observation guidelines. Data analysis used descriptive and statistical analysis (Wilcoxon signed rank test). The results of data analysis produce that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, this means that there is a significant increase in student self-confidence after being given educational cinema techniques. The findings of the study show that there are differences in the improvement of students 'self-confidence between before (pretest) and after (posttest) being given educational cinema techniques, thus the results of the study concluded that educational cinema techniques were effective in increasing students' self-confidence. Keywords: educational cinema technique, self-confidence, students","PeriodicalId":314841,"journal":{"name":"ProGCouns: Journal of Professionals in Guidance and Counseling","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133240786","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The transition of educational activities into virtual learning has caused various challenges for students worldwide that risk their mental health. Indonesia is one of the countries implementing virtual learning for more than a year with various social, technical, and environmental obstacles. Besides the benefit of distanced learning, this online learning model has widely caused mild to severe anxiety among students. Although researchers have investigated the impacts of virtual learning on mental health problems, the intervention strategies to help students with mental health issues remain lack attention. Ecological counseling has been known for its principles of seeing individuals' mental health issues involving a broader milieu that allows counselors to understand clients according to their contextual living systems. This framework offers a culturally sensitive perspective to help counselors withdraw appropriate and best available information for intervention purposes. This article also includes an application illustration of the ecological counseling framework in the Indonesian community as a practical guideline. It is expected that this article provides academic supports for academics to work with students dealing with their mental health challenges during this pandemic adhere to the counselors' integrative cognitive complexity functions.Keywords: ecological counseling, cognitive complexity, COVID-19 mental health, counselors, Indonesia","PeriodicalId":314841,"journal":{"name":"ProGCouns: Journal of Professionals in Guidance and Counseling","volume":"5 7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132026810","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method used was survey quantitative research. The sampling technique used was a saturated sample for a more accurate representation. There were 200 students of total from department of industry, electrical, environment, urban planning, fashion, make-up, and gastronomy. The data collection techniques used were two questionnaires, namely self-adjustment and academic stress which were collected through online application. The data analysis technique used in this research was descriptive statistics. The results show that the self-adjustment of engineering faculty students was in the poor and high category. The adjustment aspect in the low category was found in the aspect of expressing feelings for 62%, while the academic stress in the high category was found in the aspect of change for 78%. It can be concluded that most of research participants during the online learning were still in a stable condition. However, there were several percentages of aspects that were less than perfect in the process of either self-adjustment or the level of academic stress. Keywords: self-adjustment, academic stress, online learning, higher education","PeriodicalId":314841,"journal":{"name":"ProGCouns: Journal of Professionals in Guidance and Counseling","volume":"4 16","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120836103","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
