The advantages of Bali cattle, among others, are having a high fertility rate (80-82 %) and good adaptability to the new environment. It was found that there are genetic variation in several genes associated with reproductive function in Bali cattle. Some studies have reported an association between genetic variation in reproductive function of cattle. However, studies on the correlation between genetic variation reproductive genes with reproductive performance of Bali cattle are still low. This article aims to provide an overview of Bali cattle genetic variation reproductive genes and making it possible as candidate marker for selection and improving reproductive performance of Bali cattle.","PeriodicalId":31368,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Biological Researches","volume":"116 1","pages":"28-35"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91356863","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Eleven variants or genotypes of soybean were collected from Indonesian Legumes and Tuber Crops Research Institute and were tested on four different electrical conductivity level of soil (0.5 dS/; 5.8 dS/m; 8.4 dS/m; and 12.2 dS/m). Soybeans were planted on pot in green house. Salinity stress will started when plants were on 21 days after planting (DAP). The treatment was watering using some different concentration of sea water for 30 days. Three methodswhich used to determine salinity resistance level of soybean were seed yield reduction level, stress susceptibility index (SSI), and leaf scorch score. Soybean will classified into salinity tolerant genotype group when weight reduction of seed was <66%, leaf scorch score was <2.0 and SSI was <0.95. Results showed that genotypes with 0.5-5.8 dS/mof soil electrical conductivity tolerance were: Wilis, Tanggamus, Gema, LK/3474-403, MLG 3474-991, IAC100/Burangrang//Malabar-10-KP-30-75, MLG 2805-962; genotypes with8.4 dS/m of soil electrical conductivity tolerance were SU-7-1014 and Argomulyo//IAC100-10-KP-40-120; and genotypes with 12.2 dS/m of soil electrical conductivity tolerance were IAC100/Burangrang//Malabar-10-KP-21-50 and Argopuro//IAC100. These results can be used by soybean breeder as a reference in improving salinity resistance level of soybean for further study as anticipation of salt affected soil wide spread.","PeriodicalId":31368,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Biological Researches","volume":"71 6 1","pages":"7-14"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83612771","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this research is to determine soybean microspores development stage based on the length of flower buds. Five local cultivars such as Argomulyo, Grobogan,Wilis, Anjasmoro and the black soybean Malika were used. Flower buds were the main material for microspore culture. Anjasmoro cultivar produces the highest number of flower bud. Anjasmoro soybean cultivar at third stage development, 3.1-3.6 mm length, was selected for microspore culture, based on plant height, length of anther, total of microspore per bud. Anjasmoro cultivar has the most late-uninucleate microspore and the total of shed of Anjasmoro microspore in the B medium with 34C for 4 day is 3820. Results revealed that Anjasmoro soybean cultivars had 354.67±59.67 μm length of anther, 2003±216 microspore per bud and the most mid and late-uninucleat microspore on 2.6-3.6 mm length flower bud. Kurz) (Guttiferae) is a tropical fruit tree native to Indonesia and its known as an asian medicinal plant used in folk medicines. In etnofamakologis, Garcinia dulcis has been used in traditional medicine, such as anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, anti-malaria and anti-bacterial. The scientific studies of biological activity of G. dulcis on lipide profile and trigliseride are relatively very few. Therefore, the objectives of this research were to know the effect of methanol extract of Garcinia dulcis fruit on total cholestrol, low density lipoprotein (LDL)-cholesterol, high density lipoprotein (HDL)-cholesterol and triglyseride rat hyperlipidemic. These studies using Garcinia dulcis fruit from Banyuasin, South Sumatra. In this observation, 30 male rat from LPPT UGM, 2 months old were used and divided into five groups randomly. The first group was given high cholesterol and lipid diet, as a normal group. The second group was given high cholesterol, lipid diet and simvastatin 3,6 mg/kg bow/day dosage, as a simvastatin group. The third, fourth and fifth groups was given high cholesterol, lipid diet and methanol extract 1.8; 2.7 and 3.6 mg/kg bow/day dosage. Total cholestrol, LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol and triglyseride contains using spectrophotometry method, were observed 1 and 30 days. The differences among groups were analyzed using Anova followed by LSD to locate the differences. LSD analysis showed that methanol extract treatment doses of 3.6 mg / kg bw and simvastatin lowers total cholesterol levels highest in the amount of 32.17 mg / dL and 24.1 mg / dL, significantly different compared with the treatment dose of 1.8 mg / kg bw. Mundu fruit methanol extract treatment doses of 3.6 mg / kg bw and simvastatin lowers triglyceride levels by 7.22 mg / dL and 24.58 mg / dL, significantly different compared with the treatment dose of 1.8 mg / kg bw and controls. Mundu fruit extract dose of 3.6 mg / dL lower LDL-cholesterol highest of 16.45 mg / dL. Mundu fruit methanol extract dose of 3.6 mg / kg bw was also able to increase the levels of HDL-cholesterol by 5.62 mg / dL. The results showed that the fruit of Garcinia dulcis contain compounds that have potential as agents antihiperlipidemia and presumably through inhibition of the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase. \u0000 \u0000Key words : Garcinia dulcis, cholesterol, triglyseride","PeriodicalId":31368,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Biological Researches","volume":"22 1","pages":"74-77"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-02-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80302353","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
