Methods: Cross-sectional study was conducted on 281 diploma prepared nurses working in two public and two private tertiary care hospitals in Karachi. A combination of probability cluster sampling and non probability convenience sampling techniques were used to select units and the participants from each research setting respectively. Data were collected using the Porter Nursing Image Scale, Index of Work Satisfaction, and a self developed demographic tool by the primary researcher. Results: Majority of the participants were women, of ages 20 to 30 years, from private hospitals. Nurses’ self perception about their public image was ranked positive but differed in degree by the tool’s components. Nurses ranked ’Professional Status’ as important for their job satisfaction. A weak negative association was found between nurses’ self perception about their public image’ and level of job satisfaction. Conclusion: Nurses, who perceive their public image positively, tend to be satisfied with their job. Nurse leaders need to understand that the efforts to enhance the image of the nursing profession are directly linked with nurses’ job satisfaction.","PeriodicalId":311537,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Nursing Studies","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-03-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132752603","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is very important to be warded off since it can cause the incidence of sickness and death. The management through lifestyle is very potential to control blood pressure and even to decrease the need for pharmacological management. The objective of this research was to analyze the influence of progressive muscle relaxation on stress, blood pressure, and quality of lifein hypertension patients in the Working Area of Muliorejo Puskesmas, Deli Serdang Regency. The research used quantitative method with quasi-experimentalnon-equivalents group control design. The samples were 30 respondents for both treatment and control groups, taken by using consecutive sampling technique. The data were analyzed by using dependent t-test and independent ttest. It could be concluded that there was the influence of progressive muscle relaxation on stress, blood pressure, and quality of life in hypertension patients. It is recommended that using progressive muscle relaxation be seriously considered as nursing intervention as a complementary therapy for decreasing stress, stabilizing blood pressure, and improving quality of life in hypertension patients in the Working Area of Muliorejo Puskesmas, SunggalSubdistrict, DeliSerdang Regency.","PeriodicalId":311537,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Nursing Studies","volume":"118 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-02-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128337463","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of the study is to evaluate the nurses' barriers when using research information in clinical decision making. A descriptive correlation research design was utilized. The sample was consisted of of 140 nurse participants at Minia University hospitals. One tool was used as Barriers to using research information in clinical decision making. This study revealed that the nurse participants agree on the research barriers such as lack of time, lack of organization support to use and implement insufficient nurse skills to use research, and complex nature of research. Thus it was concluded that nurses appraise the value of research utilization, but there were many factors hinder and become the barrier to them to implement research.","PeriodicalId":311537,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Nursing Studies","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114508916","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
