So there is need to restrict these disturbances and mitigates the issues of power quality to improve its performance. Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System (FACTS) plays a key role to enhance power handling capability and control of AC transmission systems. Unified power flow controller is the latest fact device which combines both series and shunt compensator properties and it is capable of controlling reactive and active power of transmission lines. In this paper, UPFC is used to reduce voltage sags and swells. Circuit model of UPFC is designed on the basis of rectifier and inverter circuits. Real and reactive powers changes at the receiving end by changing the control angle. Matlab/Simulink environment is used to enhance power quality by the application of UPFC. The results of simulation are given to validate the performance of UPFC.","PeriodicalId":310777,"journal":{"name":"2018 5th International Multi-Topic ICT Conference (IMTIC)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127623707","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Compared to the traditional ad-hoc networks, FANETs are more efficient in completing their task in catastrophic situations to deliver data communication services from the height. However, type of the mission and sensitivity of the application requires an adaptive, efficient, and scalable communication network for data transmission among the UAVs. Such network are challenged by the high mobility and frequent topology changes, resulting connectivity loss problem. In this context, the UAVs in FANETs have been deployed with omnidirectional antennas, which leads to restrict the overall performance of the network. Alternately, directional antennas have the potential to enhance the transmission range, spatial reuse, and capacity of the network effectively. Nevertheless, these benefits also bring some unique challenges, particularly for the MAC layer. In order to overcome such constraints, we propose a new directional antennas based medium access control (MAC) protocol to adapt the FANETs architecture. The idea is to use multiple directional antennas on a single UAV with IEEE 802.11 protocol. The design goal is to improve the overall performance of the network and to provide solutions to some of the unique challenges of using directional antennas. The integrated solution is modeled in OPNET and evaluated for throughput, end-to-end delay, and retransmission attempts. The simulation results authenticate that the proposed IEEE 802.11-based directional antennas protocol could significantly increase the performance of FANETs as compared to omnidirectional antennas.","PeriodicalId":310777,"journal":{"name":"2018 5th International Multi-Topic ICT Conference (IMTIC)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121449807","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Converter can be divided in mainly four types. (I) DC-DC (II) DCAC (III) AC-DC (IV) AC-AC. Amongst them DC-DC converter is the only converter that can be used for both harvesting energy and in consumption as well as storage with minimal losses. A DC converter may have a single or multi input and output. A Multi Input Multi Output (MIMO) converter has many advantages over a Single Input Single Output (SISO), Single Input Multi Output (SIMO) and Multi Input Single Output (MISO) converters. A MIMO converter is allowing for users to have input from various sources and thus utilizing them in different types of loads. Typically such converter helps in integrating many sources which directly generate DC power. This research is the building block to solve the problem of load diversity in the DC system.","PeriodicalId":310777,"journal":{"name":"2018 5th International Multi-Topic ICT Conference (IMTIC)","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134125371","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Main objective of scheduling techniques is to decrease the electricity cost of consumers by efficiently managing the home energy consumption on the basis of real-time pricing (RTP) signal whereas, coordination is implemented among household appliances in order to increase the user comfort by decreasing the appliances delay. Scheduling techniques: cuckoo search algorithm (CSA), earthworm algorithm (EWA), bat algorithm (BA) and a proposed hybrid scheme (HCEO), originated from CSA and EWA, are implemented and results demonstrate that proposed hybrid scheme has reduced the total electricity cost by 49.09% as compared to unscheduled case and it outperformed other scheduling techniques in terms of cost reduction. Performance of scheduling techniques before and after coordination is evaluated and a comparison is performed with each other. Results indicate that a trade-off exists between electricity cost and appliances delay.","PeriodicalId":310777,"journal":{"name":"2018 5th International Multi-Topic ICT Conference (IMTIC)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125686586","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper Short circuit analysis and Protection relying coordination of IEEE 9-Bus system is analyzed and designing of overcurrent relaying scheme to operate the relay quickly and disconnect the faulty section from healthy section. Electrical Power system built in the industry needs appropriate protection strategy for reliable operation. Undetected and sudden faults can become hazardous and disturb the entire system, power devices and causes the overheating, unbalanced system conditions, up and down of the system voltage and blackouts etc. Proposed designing consists of nine buses (two generator buses, one slack bus and six load buses), three transformers of 100MVA at three buses Bus- 1, 2 & 3, placement of transmission lines are used. The load flow and fault analysis study are carried out before the protection design of the system.
