The relevance of video analysis extends across many fields of work (e.g., professional sports, education). In sports, systematic, detailed analysis using videos of players and teams is vital to evaluate many aspects of both training and competition. MotionNotes annotation tool now combines human pose and motion information with existing traditional annotation mechanisms (e.g., text and drawings annotations), allowing users to add further details to their annotation work. The paper reports feedback from a pilot study based on a participatory workshop involving people with relevant competitive experience in basketball. Based on this use case feedback, we conclude with an outlook of future iterations for our video annotation tool.","PeriodicalId":310437,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 21st International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Multimedia","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116943722","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The use of new technologies to persuade, motivate and activate individuals for health behaviour change has been a quickly expanding field of research. This paper focuses on studying how pervasive serious games can be designed using low-cost off-the-shelf controllers and interaction devices usually used with commercial consoles for gaming. The research work has the ultimate goal of establishing how serious games based on Virtual Reality should be designed according to the impact of the technology on people with Parkinson’s Disease.","PeriodicalId":310437,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 21st International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Multimedia","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123921478","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Existing studies have proven that users’ sharing intentions can affect purchase decisions and behavioral intentions. We assume that the sharing intention can affect the purchasing intention and that the effect on the purchasing can be confirmed by verifying the mediation effect of the sharing intention. The survey data of users who have experience watching webtoon contents (n=220) were analyzed to regression analysis by using SPSS PROCESS macro. The results were shown the indirect effect and the complete mediating effect of sharing intention and were indicated sharing intention improves the purchase intention by mediation. We discuss theoretical and practical implications that can be drawn from the effect of sharing intention on purchase intention","PeriodicalId":310437,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 21st International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Multimedia","volume":"171 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124161617","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, no study has investigated how self-balancing bicycles are perceived by potential users in a natural urban environment. Therefore, we conducted a field study using a modified “parent-child tandem” in which both the front and back seat passengers could share control of the riding dynamics. An experimenter in the back seat acted as an automated system, and participants in the front seat experienced the ride while responding to text messages on their smartphones. Based on interviews, video observation, and eye-tracking data, the results highlight potential use cases for self-balancing bicycles and uncover that trust and multitasking freedom can lead to similar problems as in automated cars.","PeriodicalId":310437,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 21st International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Multimedia","volume":"23 8","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132388779","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, children’s independent mobility is declining in several countries although the increasing number of investments in urban mobility and the incentives for sustainable adoption of public transport and shared mobility. Concurrently, ownership of mobile devices is growing, opening up compelling opportunities for location- and map-based applications and services designed for and with children. This article investigates the needs and concerns in the design of child-targeted locative systems addressing children’s independent mobility while considering caregivers’ approval and fears. We present a study with seven families (nine children, 8-13-year-old, and seven adults) by taking an interdisciplinary approach. Inspired by scenario-based design, we invited the participants to imagine themselves in independent mobility scenarios (e.g., daughter and father negotiating a school path) and tell what design choices they would make. Our results indicate that the design of a child-targeted locative system should enhance physical safety on the road and enhance online safety.","PeriodicalId":310437,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 21st International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Multimedia","volume":"100 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130145209","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These conversational breakdowns can happen because of low intent and entity prediction confidence scores. A promising repair strategy in such cases is that the CA proposes to users likely alternatives to proceed. If one of these options matches the user’s intention, the breakdown is repaired successfully. We propose that successful repairs should be followed by a learning mechanism to minimize future breakdowns. After a successful repair, the CA, user, or both can learn each other’s specific phrasing. This prevents similar phrasings from causing reoccurring breakdowns. We compared user preferences for these learning mechanisms in a scenario-based study with manufacturing workers (). Our result showed that users first prefer to share the learning burden with the CA (61.3%), followed by entirely outsourcing the learning burden to the CA (60.7%) as opposed to themselves.","PeriodicalId":310437,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 21st International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Multimedia","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131795379","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To further support learners, e-book platforms already include interactive vocabulary aids. Similarly, research has started to investigate the feasibility and usability of grammar aids. However, grammar aids can hinder reading flow. In this paper, we design an interactive e-reading interface with different levels of grammar support. We perform a within-subject user study (n = 24) where we assess the relationship between the reading flow, usability, and usefulness with these designs in a fiction reading scenario. Our findings show that more detailed designs are considered more useful, but also more disruptive and less usable than simpler designs. Hence, grammar support interfaces need to balance the focus on learning and the reading experience.","PeriodicalId":310437,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 21st International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Multimedia","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115743155","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Latency is also known to alter experience and performance in interactive systems, particularly in video games. Currently, it is unclear if users’ expectations influence latency-based effects. We report the results of an experiment (N = 24) in which participants played a video game with four levels of phantom latency (30 ms, 60 ms, 90 ms, and 120 ms). Crucially, all rounds were played with 75 ms of actual latency, we merely changed its presentation in the game. We show that a high phantom latency reduces game experience and performance. Participants were least accurate and effective when playing with 120 ms while feeling the least competent and tensest. We concluded that the effects of latency are partly expectation-based. Latency researchers, developers, and gamers must be aware of the effects induced by the expectation of latency.","PeriodicalId":310437,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 21st International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Multimedia","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123893131","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, we propose an head-mounted display (HMD) AR system supporting book searching with visual cues. The visual cue is represented as a light-green blob hinting users for task completion, which significantly strengthens the overall performance. The system is implemented by using Microsoft HoloLens 2. The proof-of-concept version of the proposed solution is demonstrated in a pilot user study (n=8) comprising an experimental group (with visual cues, n=4) and a control group (without visual cues, n=4), followed by quantitative analysis of task completion time (TCT) and NASA task load index (TLX). The results show that our proposed HMD AR solution improved the task performance and had cognitive benefits for book searching tasks.","PeriodicalId":310437,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 21st International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Multimedia","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124175982","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, there has been no empirical quantification of its impact on usability and security. We present the first usability (N=17) and security (N=24) evaluations to compare PIN entry with the standard vs randomized layout. Our results show that randomizing the layout increases resistance to shoulder surfing and thermal attacks significantly, and has a very minor impact on entry accuracy, but it increases entry time (from ≈ 1.4 seconds to ≈ 2 seconds). We discuss how this simple approach can improve security with little impact on usability.","PeriodicalId":310437,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 21st International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Multimedia","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114777925","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
