East Java has great potential as a support for national food security, but the number of people living below the poverty line is the largest in Indonesia, one of which is in Batu City. This research uses a descriptive method. The results showed that each village in Batu City has various agricultural potentials and the majority of the population works in the agriculture and tourism sector. Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that the superior commodity farmers in Batu had opportunities, namely productivity, socialization and training from the government. However, business actors also face obstacles in the form of weather, capital and marketing factors.","PeriodicalId":31003,"journal":{"name":"Media Trend","volume":"16 1","pages":"69-80"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42310707","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The analytical method used in this study is the quantitative Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) method, Export Product Dynamic (EPD), and OLS analysis. The destination countries for potato exports in Indonesia are Singapore and Malaysia. This study uses annual time series data from 1989 to 2018. The results of the RCA analysis show that Indonesian potatoes have strong competitiveness in Singapore in 1999-2017, although in 1999-2003 the value of Singapore RCA was inferior to Malaysia. Whereas in Malaysia, Indonesian potatoes have strong competitiveness only in 1999-2006. The results of analysis of Indonesian potato EPD on the Singapore market are in a retreat position and Malaysia is in a lost opportunity position. The results of OLS analysis in both countries show that the variable that has a significant effect on the level of potato exports is the GDP of the destination country and the real exchange rate. Educational attainment will be a basic element in generating income, which will improve the quality and well-being of every child in the future. This study aims to look at the inequality of educational opportunities and the impact of digital literacy of school-age children on the inequality of educational opportunities in Sumatra. The results of the calculation show that there is an inequality of educational opportunities in Sumatra. Riau islands and Lampung provinces have the most ideal conditions where the inequality of education opportunities of low school age children and digital literacy of children is high. While the provinces of North Sumatra and South Sumatra have the least ideal conditions, the inequality of educational opportunities of high school-age children and digital literacy of children is low.","PeriodicalId":31003,"journal":{"name":"Media Trend","volume":"16 1","pages":"100-109"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49429447","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Then, this study will also examine the significance of differences in financial performance conditions and poverty levels between island and mainland villages. Next, test the correlation between the level of dependence of the village on the level of village poverty. The samples were selected randomly (random sampling) as many as 56 village governments. The analysis technique used is the Independent Sample T-test. The results showed that there was a very significant relationship or correlation between the level of dependency of the village and the level of village poverty. In addition, the results of the study indicate that there are differences in the financial performance of the mainland and archipelago village governments from the PADesa effectiveness ratio. Meanwhile, from the economic ratio, efficiency, village financial independence and village financial dependence, there is no difference in performance between the mainland and archipelago village governments. In terms of the ratio of village financial effectiveness, the mainland village government is superior to the archipelagic region.","PeriodicalId":31003,"journal":{"name":"Media Trend","volume":"16 1","pages":"90-99"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47272005","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The econometric approach of this study used the Vector Auto Regressive (VAR) and Granger Causality Test. The Empirical results show evidence of unidirectional causality between higher education and economic growth in lag 1 with α of 10%. These results indicate that education as a form of investment in human resources will affect the economy. This study also shows that economic growth does not affect higher education. This unidirectional causality can be explained that the economic growth that occurs does not directly increase the overall income of the community, meaning that the positive impact of growth can only be enjoyed largely by a group of high-income people.","PeriodicalId":31003,"journal":{"name":"Media Trend","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42008411","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to investigate the economic growth and poverty among all areas within Sulawesi Island and to compare these two aspects among the island’s provinces. This study employs both comparative quantitative analysis to explore economic growth formulatively and qualitative manner for in depth analysis. The result reveals an escalation in both gross regional domestic product (henceforth regional GDP) and total population each year for the last ten years. However this situation is unable to boost the macro-economic growth; a reason for this condition is the population growth in the recent ten years possibly dominated by High birth rates. Yet, this condition does not lead to a drop in the demand for workforces, which implies that the number of the working-age population (which can help improve the regional per capita income) remains constant despite the population growth. Another possible factor of regional GDP escalation is the fact that the government policy, in its foreign cooperation implementation, does not contribute to the local workforces. Nevertheless, the rise in regional GDP is insignificant as it does not affect the local economic conditions. Hence, it proves that the fluctuation of economic growth does not affect the poverty rate.","PeriodicalId":31003,"journal":{"name":"Media Trend","volume":"16 1","pages":"40-48"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43128652","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
