In the political purview, dress fashion remains a viable catalyst capable of provoking dialogue for democratic action as people could proclaim their allegiance to a group or country through their dress fashion. In Ghana, there have been several attempts to decolonise the dress fashion culture. This study sought to deepen the advocacy dialogue through analysis of Facebook reactions to Right Honourable Alban Sumana Bagbin’s adornment of indigenous Ghanaian royal dress regalia for parliamentary business and his clarion call on the floor of Ghana’s parliament on January 25, 2022, on the need to decolonise Ghanaian parliamentary dress code. Through the adoption of a mixed approach situated within the convergent parallel research design, censused Facebook reactions of Ghanaians regarding Speaker Bagbin’s clarion call were examined. Sentiment analysis was used as the data analysis tool. The study revealed Ghanaians' overwhelming endorsement and commendation for Speaker Bagbin’s adornment of indigenous Ghanaian royal dress fashion for parliamentary business. The study concluded that Ghanaians are clamouring for parliamentary dress code decolonisation as part of the pragmatic steps to revamp the sickening textile and fashion industry to deal with increasing fashion needs of the people. To ensure exemplary leadership of wearing made in Ghana by the legislature, executive and other arms of government to push the decolonisation agenda beyond mere rhetoric of wear Ghana, is to make the practice statutory. In that regard, Ghana’s parliament must make laws to make what the executive, legislature and judicial wear in discharge of the duties in the public sphere statutory to contribute to developing the textiles and fashion industry for job creation, preservation of cultural values and national identity.  Article visualizations:","PeriodicalId":309514,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Social Sciences Studies","volume":"228 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132453366","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Children have taken up parenting and care roles for themselves, their siblings and sometimes other kinsmen. As they take on such roles, they encounter several adversities and experience difficulty acquiring basic needs such as food, housing, education, medical care and clothing. These children, as family heads, interact with physical, social, and cultural environments that bring about adversities but also offer the necessary resources for meeting needs and coping with adversities. Our study sought to explore the specific resources available to children as family heads and how those resources enable child-headed households to meet their needs and cope with the adversities they encounter. We utilised a qualitative methodology with an exploratory case study design to unravel the opinions of six purposively selected children who head families in Kampala, Uganda. We gathered children’s narratives through interviews, which were later transcribed and analysed thematically. Study findings indicated that children tapped into a range of resources such as social networks, including relatives, neighbours, friends, state and civil society departments and organisations. Children as family heads also relied on family land, religiosity and participation in income-generating activities to cope with their adversities and acquire basic needs.  Article visualizations:","PeriodicalId":309514,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Social Sciences Studies","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133976608","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Bar-On Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire was used to assess emotional intelligence and the Career Decision-Making Difficulties Questionnaire was used to assess and career decision making difficulties. 715 students took part in this study. Data was collected through a convenient sampling technique. Descriptive statistics, t-test, and Pearson correlation coefficient test were the methods used to analyze the data. The findings showed that female students are more emotionally intelligent than male students, whereas female students face more career decision making difficulties than male students. Furthermore, the findings showed that there is a significant negative correlation between emotional intelligence and career decision making difficulties among Palestinian high school students in Israel (r = -.101, p< .01). The significance of the current study is its contribution to examining the role of students’ emotional intelligence in predicting the students’ career decision making difficulties. The findings will help school counselors shape new strategies in career guidance and school counselling.  Article visualizations:","PeriodicalId":309514,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Social Sciences Studies","volume":"266 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133068801","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Socioeconomic change has left men and women with patriarchal ideology, and unemployment prevents both sexes from fulfilling roles as head of household or breadwinner; this study utilized qualitative design and a grounded theory approach which will be coming from the field results. Purposeful sampling or purposive sampling was used in this study to provide in-depth and detailed information representing men and women in Purok Tuburan and Kawayan, Barangay Tambobong, Baguio District, Davao City. Findings revealed six constructs from the exploration of household, occupation, and community responsibilities of women and men are the following (1) low income, (2) marital agreement, (3) gender stereotype, (4) access and control, (5) invitational appearance, and (6) community involvement. The extent of the problems being faced as a result of improper solid waste management cannot be understated for example the illegal dumping and burning of municipal waste has become a common phenomenon in most Zimbabwean towns and cities. Studies regarding solid waste management have been widely researched by various scholars across the globe. In Zimbabwe, studies regarding solid waste management have been studied by scholars like Mlaudzi (2017) and Mutsvanga, et al. (2018) among others. Most of the studies focus on major urban centres and lack much information on residential areas. This study focuses on the challenges faced by local authorities in solid waste management in Dangamvura, Mutare. The main objectives of the study include: exploring the challenges being faced by the city of Mutare in solid waste management within the Dangamvura residential area, determining how these challenges are affecting the community and assessing the strategies and policies adopted by the city council to address these challenges. The researcher employed the mixed method of data collection and 60 participants took part in the research. The key informants were drawn from the city of Mutare. The main challenges which were being faced by the council in solid waste management in Dangamvura included poor community engagement, understaffing, urban sprawl, political interference, shortage of resources and natural hazards. These challenges affected the residents in a number of ways which included: disease outbreaks through water contamination, loss of natural beauty of the area and inconsistency in refuse collection. Various efforts were made to improve the state of service delivery in Dangamvura which included environmental education, law enforcement, motorizing cleansing, purchasing new refuse trucks and provisions of bins. The recommendations that have been provided include depoliticizing the issue among others that have been listed at the end of this study.  Article visualizations:","PeriodicalId":309514,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Social Sciences Studies","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126799687","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It gives a rundown of the amounts and sorts of plastics in the waste stream and furthermore the primary impacts of recycling on the plastic material itself, the environment and also the national economy. The two main types of recycling are mechanical and chemical recycling. The research also compares the methods of recycling which are already in use and selecting the best in a bid to save the environment from pollution. The study also seeks to discover the challenges and benefits associated with plastic waste recycling. Questionnaires, interviews and observations were used to conduct the study. Data was analysed through hand tallying in the form of tables, graphs and pie charts. From the main findings, there is a lot of plastic waste in Mbare (Harare) because of the shortage of bins and an ineffective waste collection system. However, the plastic waste collection system should be complimented by the Harare city council which should register waste collectors and recyclers for incentives by signing agreement contract terms with them. Mbare has become the most ideal urban area to develop a waste collection centre as plastic waste has become a major problem.  Article visualizations:","PeriodicalId":309514,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Social Sciences Studies","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131474232","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A descriptive cross-sectional study design was used in which a sample of 125 participants was selected through random sampling with the aim of determining the nature, quantities and management practices of electronic waste in the study area. Data was collected through the use of a pre-tested questionnaire and key informant interviews. Observation pictures were also taken to document the methods used by households to manage the e-waste. Collected data were analysed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20.0 and presented using tables and graphs. The study found that on average each household unit generated the following quantities and types of e-waste: electrical irons (0.68±0.68), kettles (0.53±0.50), stoves (0.34±0.54), televisions (0.26±0.44) and decoders (0.18±0.44). With regards to household e-waste management, 54.4% of the participants reported that they disposed of it in designated sites, 24.8 % kept it at their homes, 15.2 % burnt or incinerated it and only 5.2 % sold it to recyclers. In light of these findings, this investigation concludes that residents use unsustainable household e-waste management practices which may endanger their environment and personal health. The study recommends that waste managers of Gwanda municipality and the Environmental Management Agency should (i) conduct e-waste awareness campaigns to households in order to improve on management practices, (ii) develop a sound e-waste management strategy, and (iii) consider strengthening the efforts on e-waste recycling.  Article visualizations:","PeriodicalId":309514,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Social Sciences Studies","volume":"68 20","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120874783","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Witchcraft haunts the minds and harms the existence of individuals who claim to be victims. He has a devalued image of himself and his family to the point of experiencing indifferent and distant, even absent interactions (disorganized attachment). A sample size of 384 millennial participants, selected using purposive sampling, contributed to the analysis of this study, which was collected using self-administered questionnaires. The data were analysed using SPSS version 28. The findings reveal that security and perceived usefulness significantly influence millennials' engagement with mobile technology.
