A total of 39 individuals were registered, grouped into three families, three subfamilies, nine genera and 13 species. The Phyllostomidae family was the best represented with 82.05% of the collected individuals and ten species. At the same time the Stenodermatinae subfamily was the most abundant and diverse representing 59% (n = 23) with five genera and eight species. At the Urodela convexum species level, Carollia perspicillata and Artibeus lituratus were the most abundant with 46.2% of the total individuals registered in this study. Of the three trophic guilds found, the frugivore with 76.92% (n = 30) was the best represented. This study provides a new record of the hairy-legged bat Diphylla ecaudata for the Colombian Choco-Biogeographical region, and broadens the geographic distribution known for the species in Colombia. This research demonstrates the need to systematically study regions that provide important data on the bat community in Colombia.","PeriodicalId":30916,"journal":{"name":"Revista Colombiana de Ciencia Animal Recia","volume":"10 1","pages":"7-14"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43627618","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the quantitative information, species richness, Simpson dominance, fairness and true diversity were estimated, and similarities/dissimilarities were determined between the sampling areas by sorting and ordering analysis. Ten species of algae, 26 invertebrate species and one vertebrate species were identified, totaling 37 species. A total of 10260 macrofaunal organisms were quantified, with an average abundance of 85.5 ± 71.2 ind/root being estimated. The most abundant species were Amphibalanus sp., Ischadium recurvum and Crassostrea rhizophorae. The remarkable abundance in the northern zone was significantly different from the central and southern zones. In general, the macrofaunistic community was equitable, and presented true diversity values from 2.8 to 3.7 effective species. The composition and abundance of macrofauna were similar in the three sampling zones. The submerged roots of R. mangle play a key role in the Tampamachoco lagoon by providing habitats for various aquatic organisms.","PeriodicalId":30916,"journal":{"name":"Revista Colombiana de Ciencia Animal Recia","volume":"10 1","pages":"31-42"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46956342","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Least Squared Means methodology, was used to estimate environmental effects. The model included as fixed effects year and month of birth calf, sex and age of dam at calving as a covariate and error as random effects. The variance components were estimated using an animal model considered as fixed effects contemporary group and age of dam. As random effect were composite of direct and maternal genetic additive effects and permanent environment. The genetic trends for direct and maternal effects were estimated by the regression of annual breeding value means on the animals’ year of birth. The heritability were 0.24±0.03 and 0.35±0.05 for direct genetic effect and 0.08±0.03 and 0.03±0.04 for maternal heritability for weights at 365 and 550 days, respectively. The genetic trends of the direct and maternal effects were 0.506 kg/year and -0.184 kg/year for weights at 365 days; and 0.712 kg/year and 0.187 kg/year for weights at 550 days. According to this, the economic activities and the quality of life of the inhabitants of this zone are in high risk due to the fact that the seasons of drought are highly accentuated, which has had a negative effect on the productivity and the sustenance of the cattle activity. The purpose of this research was to determine the structure of the vegetation that forms the transformed landscape units of the municipality of Guacochito Cesar, with the purpose of finding woody species with nutritional potential that could be used as food supplement for the sustenance of livestock in dry seasons. The sampling unit corresponded to 0,1 ha distributed in 10 plots (transects) of 50 m long by 2 m wide, covering the internal variability of the inventoried area, as developed in VILLAREAL (2014). Determinant results were obtained to establish that the transformed vegetal blankets adjacent to the district of Guacochito Cesar has a great potential, because in these units woody species with important forage characteristics such as Prosopis juliflora and Samanea saman are grown, which showed significant indices of value of importnace (IVI), which, joined to their agroecosystemic properties, allows to think about the planning of a program of rational use of these organisms in order to nutritionally supplement cattle and minor species in times of prolonged drought.","PeriodicalId":30916,"journal":{"name":"Revista Colombiana de Ciencia Animal Recia","volume":"10 1","pages":"51-60"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42736733","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Each eyaculated was divided into two equal aliquots. One half received dimethylformamide (5%) and the other half received glycerol (5%) as cryoprotectans. The protocol was performed with a cooling curve of 5oC for 120 minutes, and exposure to nitrogen vapor for 15 minutes before being submerged in liquid nitrogen. Sperm viability (motility) was assessed by a thermal resistance test, the morphology of cells was evaluated by setting the semen in saline formalin and the integrity of the plasma membrane of the sperm tail by hyposmotic test. In respect to the parameters the post-thawing evaluation of the semen displayed no significant difference (p>0.05) between the two cryoprotectans. The results allow us to conclude that the use of extensor medium INRA 82, modified with sugar associated with skim milk and addition of 2% egg yolk and moderate cooling curve of 5oC for 120 minutes shows a beneficial effect on sperm parameters in post-thaw period independently of the cryoprotectant used in the colombian criollo horses.","PeriodicalId":30916,"journal":{"name":"Revista Colombiana de Ciencia Animal Recia","volume":"10 1","pages":"61-67"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45055518","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For two months, aquatic insects associated with the roots of E. azurea were collected, using a quadrant of one m 2 , provided with a mesh of 0.5 mm, with three replicates per swamp and simultaneously measured some physical and chemical variables of the water. The community consisted of 6 orders, 21 families and 28 genera. The highest number of organisms (55.39%) and of taxa (23) were recorded in the low water period. The most abundant orders were Ephemeroptera (37.55%) and Coleoptera (26.77%), standing out the families Baetidae and Noteridae respectively; while the greatest taxonomic richness was for Coleoptera, Diptera and Hemiptera. There were no significant differences in diversity and dominance between hydrological periods (p> 0.05), but in the specific richness (p <0.05). The most abundant functional groups were predators (54.81%) and collectors (43.70%).
