Materials and Methods: A total of 120 extracted sound human permanent molars were selected. And assigned into 4 groups according to adhesive types (one step-self-etch (1S-SE) adhesive, modified self-etch adhesive with hydroxyapatite nanorods (HA-NR), universal adhesive, resin-modified glass ionomer-based adhesive). Each group was further subdivided into two subgroups according to time of testing, (a) immediately evaluated, (b) was subjected to the 6 months storage in artificial saliva followed by thermocycling. For each adhesive group, teeth divided into three groups according to test types: (I) for microleakage (ML) test (n =80), (II) for nanoleakage (NL) test (n =24), and (III) for elemental analysis test (n = 16). For the (ML) test, all collected data were tabulated and statistically analyzed using a statistical package with IBM SPSS. A Chi-squared test was used to compare microleakage scores among different adhesive groups. Results: The microleakage was significantly affected by the “type of adhesive material” (P ≤ 0.05) and the “time”. Another Chi-squared test showed that there was no significant difference in microleakage between occlusal and gingival margins among tested groups. Calcium and phosphate levels increased in, the modified self-etch adhesive group. Conclusion: Incorporation of bioactive hydroxyapatite nano-rods (HA-NR) into self-etch adhesives decreases microleakage and nanoleakage pattern of resin/dentin interface. It improves Calcium and Phosphate levels at the resin- dentin interface.","PeriodicalId":308616,"journal":{"name":"Mansoura Journal of Dentistry","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115797069","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Materials and Methods: A cross sectional study was done among 1500 mother and their children aged 1-4 years old. This study was based on close ended qestionnaires interview, in addition to salivary samples collection from 150 mothers and their children to detect the Streptococcus mutans counts in saliva. Results: About half of mothers or sometimes more significantly reported correct knowledge regarding most of the questions (p=0.001). Significant percentage of mothers had positive attitudes regarding all questions except for visiting the dentist for pain only and the main reason for visiting the dentist. Regarding the bacterial count, only 21.3% of the mothers had high bacterial counts with no statistical difference. As for children, 34% of them had high count with no statistical difference. Conclusion: Correct knowledge of the mothers is considered relatively low, while the positive attitude is considerably fair.","PeriodicalId":308616,"journal":{"name":"Mansoura Journal of Dentistry","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122289378","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Materials and methods: Sixty extracted human permanent teeth were selected for the study. Specimens were divided into four groups: group 1: fluoride varnish (Voco), group 2: Bioactive Glass-Chitosan varnish (Nano gate company), group 3: Hydroxy Apatite-Chitosan varnish (Nano gate company), group 4: control (treated with remineralizing solution). Artificial carious lesions were induced in all the specimens and treated with respective varnishes twice daily for 7 days. The DIAGNOdent pen (Kavo DIAGNOdent pen 2190) readings were taken, and the surface characteristics of the enamel specimens were evaluated by SEM at baseline, after demineralization and after remineralization. Results: SEM evaluation showed favourable surface changes in all the four study groups after remineralization therapy. Intragroup comparison of DIAGNOdent readings showed a highly significant difference between baseline, post demineralization, and post remineralization values. However, the intergroup comparison was statistically nonsignificant. Conclusion: All test agents were comparable in their remineralization potential.","PeriodicalId":308616,"journal":{"name":"Mansoura Journal of Dentistry","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121963333","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present study was performed to evaluate the Degree of Monomer Conversion of three different light polymerized resinous materials. Materials and Methods: Forty five ceramic slices of shade A2 were machined from low translucenct (LT) IPS Emax CAD blocks (n=45)using (Isomet 4000) sawing machine cutting at a speed of 2500 rpm with water cooling, the block were sliced to a uniform standard thickness of 0.5 mm. IPS Emax CAD slices were covering three resinous materials, RelyX Veneer, filtek Z350xt flowable composite and preheated filtek Z350xt composite at 68°C, cured for 30 seconds and then separated from the slices, the 45 specimens were then divided according to the used luting material into three groups (n=15), the samples then prepared for analysis by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscope, uncured cement samples were also subjected to analysis. One-way ANOVA followed by Tukey’s post hoc test was used to study the effect of resinous material on degree of conversion.The significance level was set at P<0.05. Results: The highest mean value of DC was recorded for Rely X Veneer resin cement, followed by flowable composite, while the least DC was recorded for the preheated composite. Conclusion: Both light cured resin cement and flowable composite were superior to preheated composite regarding their degree of monomer conversion.","PeriodicalId":308616,"journal":{"name":"Mansoura Journal of Dentistry","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114784087","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
