Materials and methods : Rats were randomly allocated to three groups: group I (sham control), group II (arthritis) where animals were subjected to arthritis induction using complete Freund’s adjuvant followed by LLLT (0 j/cm 2 ), and group III (LLLT) where animals were subjected to arthritis induction followed by LLLT (38 j/cm 2 ). One and three weeks after treatment onset, rats were euthanized and specimens were subjected to histological, histomorphometric, and histochemical analysis. Results : The sham group showed normal histology. The arthritic group showed severe changes with surface irregularity, loss of condylar zones, hypocellularity, and bone resorption. The articular disc was significantly increased in thickness (P=0.0005), while the condylar cartilage was atrophied (P<0.0001). LLLT treatment caused significant enhancement of disc (P<0.0001) and cartilage thickness (P=0.0001) compared to the arthritic group after three weeks. The histological structure of TMJs appeared more regularly arranged than the arthritis group with better results after three weeks, where articular surfaces showed uniform outlines, chondrocytes were well arranged, less osteochondral detachment was detected, and subchondral bone showed arranged trabeculae. However, LLLT did not restore complete normal architecture as compared to the sham group. Conclusions : LLLT can significantly promote the regeneration and healing of arthritic TMJs. Materials and Methods: Class V cavity was made on the buccal surface of sixty sound primary mandibular second molar in this study. The teeth were divided into two main groups: Group A (Kidney shaped cavity) and Group B (Rectangle shaped cavity). Each group was also subdivided into two subgroups, Subgroup A 1 ; Kidney shape with gingival margin on enamel, Subgroup A 2 ; Kidney shape with gingival margin on cementum, Subgroup B 1 ; Rectangle shape with gingival margin on enamel and Subgroup B 2 ; Rectangle shape with gingival margin on cementum. After restoring all cavities with 3M™ Single Bond Universal Adhesive and Filtek™ Z250 XT (3M ESPE) composite, a dye penetration test was performed to evaluate the microleakage of occlusal and gingival margins. Results: Regarding the cavity design, a significant difference was found between the rectangle-shaped cavity design (1.1±1.09) and the kidney design (0.733±0.94). Regarding the location of the gingival margin, there was a statically significant difference between margins below the Cemento-enamel junction (2.30±0.98) and those above (1.20±1.13). Conclusions: Lowering the surface area of the cavity, as in the Kidney shape, helps greatly in minimizing the microleakage of composite restorations. Materials and Methods: A sample of 25 retrospective paraffin blocks of OPCGS was thoroughly investigated histopathologically . Materials and Methods: Sixty Mandibular molars with mesiobuccal canals with curvatures ranging between 20° and 40° were divided into three groups of 20 teeth each. a group for each system as follows: group 1 was prepared by Fanta file system, group 2 was prepared by Pro Taper Next file system, and group 3 was prepared by One Curve file system. The measuring of canal curvatures was determined by Schneider's method using standardized periapical radiographs and the Image J software. Pre and post-CBCT scans were done on all samples. Measurements of Pre and Post CBCT scans were compared to assess transportation and centering ability. Data were analyzed using the Minitab 19 program one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey Honestly Significant Difference (HSD) test. Results: There was no significant difference between the 3 tested groups regarding transportation or centering ratio, but the coronal third showed higher values of transportation with Fanta group (p≤0.05), and Pro Taper next group (p≤0.05). Conclusions: All instruments were safe to use. Mahmoud","doi":"10.21608/mjd.2022.148496.1056","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.21608/mjd.2022.148496.1056","url":null,"abstract":": Objective: To evaluate the effect of MDBP-containing self-etch (SE) adhesive and different dentin surface pretreatments on antibacterial activity Materials and Methods : A total of forty disc shaped specimens fabricated (8 mm in diameter and 1.5 mm thickness) were divided into four main groups according to type of the surface treatment method; deionized water(control), CHX, Papin enzyme and Riboflavin. Each group was sub-divided into 2subgroups (n=5) according to the type of adhesive: classic or MDPB containing SE adhesives. Bonded specimens were stored in deionized water for 24 hr. (n=6). The plates contained dices shaped specimen was incubated at 37 o C for 24. The diameter of inhibition zones were measured with sliding callipers and the data were statistically analyzed using Mann-Whitney U-test and multiple comparisons Kruskal Wallis H-test and level of significance were tested. Result: The diameter of inhibition zones evaluated that Clearfil SE protect has antibacterial activity and pre-surface treatment with CHX and Papin enzyme increased antibactrial activity with both types of adhesives. Conclusions: MDPB containing SE adhesives have antibacterial activity.
