A big part of the automotive technology development process is testing. Autonomous driving testing is a complex process, which is important both during the development and with the finished product. The focus of this paper are diagnostic tools used during this testing, specifically, diagnostic tools for live visual representation of vehicle signals. The result of the research shows what a modern visualization diagnostic tool in the automotive industry needs to contain. After a thorough analysis of existing applications of this type, the issues regarding application scaling and signal lag and synchronization were described. Also, a lack of controls and unclear visual representation were noticed. Based on these issues, the proposed solution suggests how this type of application can be improved, by both fixing the mentioned issues, and also expanding the application so that the improved application meets all the needs. The evaluation showed that the improved application offers a more precise representation of the signals, in addition to being more user-friendly. Furthermore, with additional controls, the solution improves the process of automotive real-time testing.","PeriodicalId":308106,"journal":{"name":"2021 Zooming Innovation in Consumer Technologies Conference (ZINC)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132729184","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A number of them are based on processing the images captured by in-vehicle cameras. Furthermore, in image processing-based ADAS algorithms one of the most important steps often is edge detection. Therefore, it is important to properly choose the edge detection method, to achieve high performance and low processing time. Due to limited hardware resources available when using real ADAS platforms, the trade-off is needed. In this paper, the implementation of four different edge detection operators (Sobel, Prewitt, Laplace and Canny) onto a real ADAS Alpha board is performed. The implementation is performed using the Vision Software Development Kit (SDK), which is a multi-processor software platform specifically optimized to work with Texas Instruments (TI) Systems-On-Chip (SoCs) that Alpha board consists of. To test the operators’ performance in a real ADAS operational environment, the Berkeley dataset is used. The output results of each edge detector are compared to available ground truth labeled images from the Berkeley dataset to check which detector achieves the highest performance in terms of edge detection accuracy. Furthermore, the operators are compared in terms of execution time and memory usage. It was shown that Canny operator requires the longest execution time and the highest amount of memory, but it also achieves the highest edge detection accuracy. It is also shown that the trade-off between detector accuracy and its requirements can be achieved in certain situations where it is acceptable.","PeriodicalId":308106,"journal":{"name":"2021 Zooming Innovation in Consumer Technologies Conference (ZINC)","volume":"140 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133610973","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper we are dealing with questions such as the difference in emotion expression between genders and age groups, as well as the precision of micro expression detection, providing a new database of spontaneous and honest micro expressions. Difficulty in predicting and recognizing real emotions, combined with hiding and suppressing them calls for detailed analysis of the topic and providing better test and train sets as well as higher precision in its detection. What emotions are women more likely to show and hide, as well as males, is tightly connected with the precise detection of the micro expressions.","PeriodicalId":308106,"journal":{"name":"2021 Zooming Innovation in Consumer Technologies Conference (ZINC)","volume":"53 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113941043","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The situation may even become worse under weak grid scenarios, where the grid impedance variations may locate the resonance frequency in the unstable region. Therefore, the control system should be designed to cope with these problems. In this paper, a simple and robust method based on feedforwarding the point of common coupling (PCC) voltage is proposed, which guarantees the stability of the system regardless of the grid impedance variation. The proposed method is based on the passivity of inverter output admittance, which could eliminate the non-passive region below the Nyquist frequency. Also, it does not need any passive or active damping methods, which in turn, reduces the cost and enhances efficiency. Experimental results on a laboratory prototype are provided to show the accuracy of the analysis and verify the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":308106,"journal":{"name":"2021 Zooming Innovation in Consumer Technologies Conference (ZINC)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125271483","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A2L files contain relevant information about ECU objects such as characteristics and measurement variables. As part of this paper, the creation of an XCP (Universal Measurement and Calibration Protocol) generator in C++ is presented. It is a tool for classification of system model parameters that generate A2L files. These files are used for calibration and communication with ECUs via XCP. It was based on the existing tool in Python and realized in 3 steps: first, the database and the parser model are created, then the serialized model (model.zip) is replaced with the mentioned database, and finally, the XCP generator is written in the C++ programming language. After creating a new solution, A2L files are generated and successfully launched on the MotionWise board which uses Tricore TC297 B-Step and Renesas Electronics R-Car H3 microcontrollers.","PeriodicalId":308106,"journal":{"name":"2021 Zooming Innovation in Consumer Technologies Conference (ZINC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129099214","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of such ADAS is that intended for traffic signs recognition. This paper deals with the recognition of a specific subset of traffic signs, i.e. speed limit traffic signs. The complete solution is based on the usage of machine learning and finally implemented in the C programming language. After the optimization process, the final solution is implemented on the real ADAS board, to check its performance in a real operational environment. Due to the limited resources of the ADAS board itself, a simple Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) was created to recognize speed limit traffic signs. For CNN training a large database of 6891 training images is used. When testing the solution, 731 test images from the real traffic are used, as well as 123 real video sequences. The test results show that in certain situations the proposed solution is capable of achieving high performance in terms of precision, while in some cases additional improvements of the solution should be investigated. It is capable of processing 12 frames per second when operating with state-of-the-art automotive camera resolution, i.e. 1280x720 pixels.","PeriodicalId":308106,"journal":{"name":"2021 Zooming Innovation in Consumer Technologies Conference (ZINC)","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116821473","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For that reason, this paper presents the implementation of the solution for stitching multiple frames with the overlap area, obtained by vehicle cameras with the aim of increasing the visibility of the environment behind the vehicle and eliminating the need for a classic view over the shoulder. A real ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance System) development board and the three real automotive cameras were mounted on a small vehicle model and were used to create test videos. After frame stitching, correcting the brightness of the stitched frame is also implemented to achieve a higher quality of final output frame. The performed subjective quality evaluation results using 10 neutral viewers confirm that the proposed solution achieves high performance in terms of the quality of the output image. However, the results related to the measured execution time of the proposed solution show that it cannot achieve a real-time performance in its current form when implemented on real ADAS board. Therefore, for the proposed solution the intention is to use the Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) communication and remote data processing center which should process more demanding tasks of the solution.","PeriodicalId":308106,"journal":{"name":"2021 Zooming Innovation in Consumer Technologies Conference (ZINC)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128857290","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The work proposed in this paper provides further improvements of the salp swarm algorithm, that have been achieved by modifications of the original approach. By analyzing solutions’ quality and convergence speed of basic salp swarm during practical simulations, it was concluded that the exploitation process can be improved. Improvements were achieved by introducing the concept of opposite solutions in the initialization phase, as well as in iterative search process, where a fine-tuned exploitation of the current best solution is performed by generating its opposite individual. Proposed improved salp swarm algorithm was tested on thirteen well-known global benchmarks. Comparative analysis was performed with seven other modern metaheuristics methods, and against the original salp swarm algorithm. Accomplished results have proven that proposed approach in a large degree outscores original algorithm and other approaches included in comparative analysis.","PeriodicalId":308106,"journal":{"name":"2021 Zooming Innovation in Consumer Technologies Conference (ZINC)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124973722","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
