Most PD approaches were created only to find protein-coding genes and ignore long non-coding (lncRNA) genes, which are crucial for biological functions, disease transformation, and development. In this paper, the proposed system is developed to predict protein and lncRNA genes associated with PD, which consists of four steps. First, preprocessing step is to represent the genes as DNA FASTA sequences. Second, feature extraction methods are used to extract and discover the most discriminative features of the biological sequences, and the extracted features are fused. Third, the Adaboost technique is used as feature selection to reduce these fused feature vectors’ dimensionality. Finally, the gradient-boosted decision tree algorithm is used for diagnosing various test cases. The proposed prediction system achieves the best result compared with state-of-arts studies with an area under the curve (AUC) equal to 86.7%.","PeriodicalId":307952,"journal":{"name":"2022 18th International Computer Engineering Conference (ICENCO)","volume":"254 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122254715","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Varying drift is considered one of the major MEMS gyroscope error sources, as it limits the usage of the gyroscope to short periods only. So in the paper, we apply the continuous rotation modulation technique (CRMT) to the ADIS16334 MEMS gyroscope to reduce the drift of the sensor. The experimental results prove that the application of CRMT has yielded a significant enhancement of the sensors’ roll and pitch angle drift by 37x and 8x, respectively. This performance enhancement enables the dependence on the sensor for an extended period.","PeriodicalId":307952,"journal":{"name":"2022 18th International Computer Engineering Conference (ICENCO)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123228619","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The approach is based on the generation and analysis of the directed graph having the matrix in question as its adjacency matrix. The computational investigation is carried out by developing a MATLAB experimental toolbox. Fortunately, it has been found that this toolbox strikingly outperformed the built-in MATLAB function “jordan” since the former successfully executed for square matrices of order up to 1000 while the latter lingered for matrices of order 60. Since the Collatz matrix generated by the Collatz function is a special case of the zero-one investigated matrix, the obtained results are applicable to this important matrix which appears in some problems in signal and image processing. The open problems related to Collatz conjecture are computationally addressed and some empirical results emerged. An empirical formula is devised for the number of connected components in the Collatz graph.","PeriodicalId":307952,"journal":{"name":"2022 18th International Computer Engineering Conference (ICENCO)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126104621","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Liver tumors are the leading cause of liver cancer. Hence, liver cancer mortality rates can be reduced with prediction and accurate staging of liver tumors in early stages. To assist radiologist diagnosis decision making, computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) is used along with different imaging modalities. Precise and reliable segmentation of the liver and tumors are essential in CAD systems pipeline. Computer-Aided Detection (CADe) systems and Computer-Aided Diagnosis (CADx) systems, are the two primary CAD systems categories. This paper mainly aims to propose a CADe system framework to automatically segment the liver along with liver tumors using Fast-Generalized Fuzzy C-Means (FG-FCM) and Kernel-Based Fuzzy C-Means (K-FCM), respectively. Computed tomography (CT) is used in this paper as the imaging modality. The applicability of our framework was verified with 250 CT volumes from various benchmark datasets namely; LiTS17, 3Dircadb and MICCAI-Sliver07. Reliability, reasonability and applicability of our system was proved through experimental results with an overall average accuracy of 93.96%, recall/sensitivity of 88.79%, selectivity/specificity of 97.36%, Dice similarity coefficient of 90.93%. The proposed framework has the advantages of being unsupervised, fully-automatic with low noise sensitivity and high in-homogeneity correction in comparison with other frameworks.","PeriodicalId":307952,"journal":{"name":"2022 18th International Computer Engineering Conference (ICENCO)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129206203","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Introducing this new band in vehicle-to-everything communication (V2X) is indispensable to support ultra-high data rates with massive bandwidth. Achieving higher spectrum utilization and alleviating the resource conflicts such as limited transmission capacity and unpredictable propagation delays in V2X communications can be realized using non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA). In this paper, we integrate the benefits of NOMA and THz in a downlink heterogeneous V2X network. We maximize the data rate for the vehicle user equipment (VUE) by deriving a closed-form expression to obtain the optimal power allocation. The minimum requirement for the cellular user equipment (CUE) has been satisfied throughout the analysis and the effect of using different power allocation factors is showed. In addition, a cooperative receive diversity is accommodated in our model to enhance the reliability. The results show the enhancement in data rates for optimal NOMA power allocation factors compared to equal power allocation and the effect of VUE location on the data rate.","PeriodicalId":307952,"journal":{"name":"2022 18th International Computer Engineering Conference (ICENCO)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130336800","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The channels between UAVs and ground users pose a threat of substantial co-channel interference in the network with the deployment of UAVs due to line-of-sight links. This research develops coordinated multi-point (CoMP) technique based on joint transmission approach in a UAV-enabled cellular system to handle this problem, coupled with the proper positioning of UAVs. Although CoMP has the potential to improve network performance, its processing time and overhead make it challenging to adopt across the network. Therefore, a user-centric clustering strategy is used to randomly disperse the network’s nodes into overlapping groups. By optimizing CoMP clusters, beamforming vectors, and UAV flight paths, we aim to keep communication energy usage to a minimum. The optimization problem is formulated, considering the limitations imposed by the UAVs’ mobility and maximum transmit power. An effective method is proposed to deal with the nonconvexity of the formulated problem. First, a circular filling strategy is used to determine the flight trajectories of the UAVs. Then, we reformulate the non-convex constrained problem into an equivalent convex optimization problem and optimize the CoMP clusters and the beamforming vectors jointly. The effectiveness of the proposed solution has been numerically validated.","PeriodicalId":307952,"journal":{"name":"2022 18th International Computer Engineering Conference (ICENCO)","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132095982","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to properly plan for dental surgery or suitable implant placement, it is necessary for accurate segmentation of the jaw tissues: the teeth, the cortical bone, the trabecular core, and overall, the inferior alveolar nerve. Achieving 3D virtual surgical planning is very hard and is a major drawback because most of the existing jaw segmentation methods require a large amount of expert knowledge for manual or partially automatic segmentation. What is more, due to the lack of experienced doctors and experts, high-quality expert knowledge is hard to achieve in practice. Furthermore, metal artifacts and large variations in their shape and size among individuals influence the segmentation of the jaw in CBCT scans seriously. Therefore, this paper presents a new automatic jaw segmentation in CBCT scans dataset. This approach is divided into two main phases; the first phase adopts the use of image processing techniques to extract the region of interest (ROI) which is the area containing the jaws. It is an important phase as it prepares the 3D image data before using it in the second phase as it makes the training more efficient rather than training the model overall 3D head of CBCT scans. In the second phase, we use several models to segment each jaw separately and then gets a 3D segmentation view of both jaws. We implement such a segmentation approach on head CBCT scans given as Dicom Numpy files datasets and then evaluate the performance. Our proposed approach has been tested in a validation set that has been evaluated using Dice’s coefficient and the Attention Unet model achieved promising results with a 91","PeriodicalId":307952,"journal":{"name":"2022 18th International Computer Engineering Conference (ICENCO)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121770514","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
