The research sample included 44 practitioners employed in HR departments of Silesian enterprises. In the study a questionnaire was used where 88.6% of people surveyed indicated the benefits of using HR in the area of recruitment, and 83.6% of respondents believe that analytics affects efficiency through the better planning and utilizing of the workforce, and also positively impacts the company’s organizational culture. Key research was carried out for the period from 2010 to 2019. This article should be treated as a result of preliminary research of relational capital and company performance based on the desk research. For this initial step the author decided to use a data compilation in order to confirm the significance of the issue. Based on the collected data, the decision was made to develop the topic through a systematic literature review. This second step was to analyse connection between relational capital and company performance based on publications from the period 2010-2019. By focusing on relational capital and company performance in international publications, the results indicated that the number of papers devoted to relational capital has been growing since 2010. Kos-Łabędowicz","doi":"10.15611/pn.2019.7.05","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.15611/pn.2019.7.05","url":null,"abstract":"Summary: The purpose of this paper is to examine the transport preferences of seniors and to identify potential differences in their use of transport compared to those of a younger generation, utilising literature analysis and subsequent descriptive and statistical analyses of data. The article outlines the problem of an ageing society and indicates factors important for the elderly when using the transport system. The results of direct research concerning the declared preferences of seniors and students in the choice of means of transport depending on the destination are presented. Seniors indicated public transport most often, but most people who could use a car preferred that choice for at least one of their destinations. For students, both car and public transport were also the two most frequently chosen means of transport. Despite the limited comparability of both groups, two issues are noteworthy – the similar proportions of preference for individual travel destinations, and the means of transport with definitely different levels of possibility of using a car. This suggests that in the case of seniors we are dealing with behaviour resulting from reasons other than transport preferences. {"title":"China’s achievements in poverty reduction","authors":"Renata Pęciak","doi":"10.15611/PN.2020.12.06","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.15611/PN.2020.12.06","url":null,"abstract":"In 1978 in China, nearly 250 million citizens lived under the official poverty line, and the poverty rate was 30.7%, which by 2018 fell to 0.6%. The purpose of the paper is to review the history of China’s poverty reduction strategy. The statistical data, covering the period from the beginning of the economic reforms to 2018/2019, show the process that took place in reducing poverty in China. Although the main goal of the reforms undertaken by Deng Xiaoping was to improve living conditions in China, no targeted policy was applied in the initial period. From the mid-1980s onwards the systematic and targeted actions but also successive modification and adjustment of the implemented programs allowed to continue the fight against poverty, especially in rural areas. Despite the obvious success, China still faces major challenges. For the purposes of the work, a description of tax instruments was made in terms of supporting enterprises. The article uses studies of the literature and the analysis of legal acts. The paper is based on the results of the author’s two studies, i.e. a survey conducted among all the communes in Poland and a focused group interview with representatives of private enterprises in the SME sector As a result of the research, it was found that communes largely use tax instruments to support enterprises. The purpose of the study was to determine the optimal length of the estimation window for building a portfolio with minimal risk and maximum efficiency. The length of the estimation window was also assessed in terms of the rate of return and the maximum cumulative loss. Data from 2017 was used to build the portfolio, and the weightings determined for the portfolio based on these data were evaluated using data from 2018 (from January to October). Based on the research, it was found that the optimal length of the estimation window ranges from 144 to 160 daily observations from the past. The author proceeds in two stages: first, tying the term of sustainable innovation to various paradigms of the role of banks in the economy in order to address that particular innovation clearly to a bank in a way that takes Responsible Research & Innovation (RRI) ideas into account. There has been no such approach to recognizing and interpreting financial innovation and sustainable financial innovation in banking intermediation in the existing theoretical achievements of banking. Secondly, examining the difference between sustainable innovation and incremental innovation.
