Article tries to describe representatives of modern Polish book science. As a source of data Supplement IV of Dictionary of Polish Book Specialists [Slownik pracownikow ksiązki polskiej. Suplement IV] , published in 2016, was selected. Biographies were analyzed for common characteristics, such as education, employment, participation in associations. Starting date of analysis was 1945, giving a total of 263 records. The old methods are completely unsuitable for testing new types of data.From more than a dozen dynamically develops digital humanities, which proposes new tools to study the big date, including visualization of information. In Poland this problem have not been the subject of much interest for researchers. This situation changed when, in 2016, the study Veslava Osinska Visualization of information was published. The book is intended for researchers in the field of information science, practitioners and representatives of each scientific field specializing in Infovis. Poza zobrazowaniem tradycyjnych wskaźnikow przedstawiono rowniez wizualizacje miar (np. PageRank , HITS ), ktorych wartości nie zalezą jedynie od najblizszego sąsiedztwa badanych obiektow w sieci wspolpracy czy cytowan, ale od szerszego kontekstu wystąpienia w calej strukturze. Celem artykulu nie jest wyciąganie szczegolowych wnioskow opisujących rozwoj dziedzin bibliotekoznawstwa i informacji naukowej, gdyz wnioski takie wywiedzione na podstawie danych cząstkowych obarczone moglyby byc duzym marginesem niepewności. This problem did not live so far on studies in scientific treaties. The first bookstore in Łancut was found in 1927 by Teresa and Alaxander Chmiel, the owners of the shop “Blawatny”, whose for it conduct hired professionally prepared Jan Kazimierz Keskiewicz. In 1934, they sold him the bookstore. He ran it on under the name of his wife Genowefa Keskiewicz, up until 1950, ie. until its nationalization. Since that time, it led the State Enterprise “House of Books”. The company took only a bookshop and stationary trade utensils. One of the explanation is extended retrieval scope including e-documents in data bases and repositories. Navigation systems have a significant meaning in properly functionality of NGILS. Navigation provide ways to achievement of users’ goals. Main aim of the article is a comparative analysis of navigation systems in selected NGILS: VuFind (open source), Primo ExLibris, Summon ProQuest, Encore Innovative Interfaces, ProlibIntegro, Virtua/Chamo. The visualisation layer of NGILS navigation mechanisms was also discussed. The aim of this article is to explain social reading with special regard to its online type. As a concept, social reading is quite simple. It is based on the belief that people want to share what they have read, their thoughts, and comments etc. with others so they can receive feedback. Technology is an obvious and natural enabler for those needs. Thanks to that, reading which is associated with the „alone time” becomes a social experience. Undoubtedly, the common goal of everyone who is involved in this process is to keep the collection it in the best possible condition. Unfortunately, storage conditions of books and their state of preservation require in many cases the immediate intervention. Systematization of demanded actions and establishment of conservation priorities are difficult and very hard to objectivize tasks. In this article we would like to present a method (heritage studies-based evaluation analysis) that may help in solving above mentioned problems. This method is shown in the example of the Żarnowiec Convents old print collection. Tomkowiak","doi":"10.12775/TSB.2017.016","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.12775/TSB.2017.016","url":null,"abstract":"This article aims to present the beginning of the professional union activity of Torun’s librarians in their professional organization from 1928 until 1939. Right after WW1 none of independent librarians union was active neither in city nor in province (Pomerania). Torun librarians participated in the works of the Circle of Poznan-Pomeranian Union of Polish Librarians. The headquarters of the Union was situated at the University Library of the Poznan University. The Circle was originated in 1928 by members of The Poznan Branch of Polish Librarians Union and director of The Copernicus Municipal Library in Torun, Zygmunt Mocarski. He was a very strong personality among Torun librarians. The paper describes his activity during the years 1919–1939 (i.e. also before his arrival in Torun in 1923). The list of the Circle members from Torun (and Pomearnia) is presented with some characteristics of librarians added. The same concerns institutions.
