The basic horn geometries and the horn geometrical parameters are included in the paper. The comparison of results in terms of return-loss, peak gain, cross-polar level, etc. is made. It was observed that the RF performance of a spline profile horn is comparable with that of a corrugated horn. From fabrication complexity and cost point of view, a spline profile horn is better and can be a potential candidate for its use in millimeter wave plasma diagnostics system.","PeriodicalId":306637,"journal":{"name":"2017 Nirma University International Conference on Engineering (NUiCONE)","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134417826","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Gain and bandwidth of an antenna are the vital parameters which will affect the performance of a wireless system. High gain and bandwidth are usually achieved by modifying the feeding technique or shape of a microstrip antenna or the ground plane. Ground plane is generally modified by using Electromagnetic Bandgap Structures (EBG) or Defective Ground Structures (DGS). The implementation of these structures will make the patch antennas highly frequency-selective and thus reducing the unwanted radiations or surface waves. The other method to enhance bandwidth or gain is to etch slots on the patch. The slots etched on the patch antenna too make it highly frequency selective. The dimensions, number, position of slots will either enhance the gain or bandwidth of the antenna. Proper choice of the above parameters of slot can enhance both gain and bandwidth of the patch. This paper presents the study of different configurations of double split ring slotted patch antenna in band of 12–12.89GHz. The antennas like double split ring slotted antenna, arrays, DGS double split ring slotted antenna array are studied briefly using Advanced Design System-2016 software.","PeriodicalId":306637,"journal":{"name":"2017 Nirma University International Conference on Engineering (NUiCONE)","volume":"117 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124424883","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Front end converters have been developed to improve the power quality with unity power factor and lower harmonic distortion. In this paper three-phase three-level Flying-Capacitor (FC) based front end converter using multicarrier sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) scheme has been proposed. Simulation and comparative analysis of phase shifted (PS) pulse and phase disposition (PD) pulse width modulation at different modulation index has been done and it is found that PS-PWM technique offers lower harmonic distortion compared to PD-PWM multicarrier technique. This paper proposes voltage balancing scheme using PS-PWM technique whereby triangular carrier is modified through closed loop model to control amplitude modulation index such that the capacitor voltage gets balanced. The analysis of voltage balancing scheme has been carried out by MATLAB/Simulink software and it is found that it is able to maintain the capacitor voltage to its desire voltage and also gives unity power factor with lower harmonic distortion.","PeriodicalId":306637,"journal":{"name":"2017 Nirma University International Conference on Engineering (NUiCONE)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127086120","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, a hybridization technique is proposed combining regression analysis with adaptive particle swarm optimization for navigation of humanoids. In context of humanoid navigation, sensory information regarding obstacle distances are fed as input parameters to a basic regression controller and the output of the regression controller is again fed as input to the adaptive particle swarm optimization controller to obtain the final output. The final output of the hybridized controller acts as the controlling factor for humanoid navigation in a complex environment. The logic of the proposed hybridized controller is tested in both simulated and experimental environments and the results obtained from both the environments are compared against each other with a good agreement between them. Finally, the proposed controller is also tested against other existing navigational techniques to validate the efficiency.","PeriodicalId":306637,"journal":{"name":"2017 Nirma University International Conference on Engineering (NUiCONE)","volume":"204 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114814302","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To solve the complex problems, the increasing depth and complexity pose the challenges of large computation and storage requirements when deploying such networks on embedded devices with limited storage and power. Many techniques have been developed by researchers to compress the deep neural networks to make them deployable on portable devices by reducing the storage requirements. This paper describes the implementation of deep neural network with teacher student model. A comparatively smaller student model learns the information passed from the larger teacher model without losing the accuracy and its learning/inference rate is also improved. So this kind of framework is suitable for embedded applications deployment where real-time performance is required.","PeriodicalId":306637,"journal":{"name":"2017 Nirma University International Conference on Engineering (NUiCONE)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122273665","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
