Depending on the localization of the endometriosis foci, it may appear as spontaneous pneumothorax, by far the most common presentation, pulmonary nodules or hemothorax (seldom), or hemoptysis, when implants develop in the tracheobronchial tree (extremely rare). Diagnosis of this entity is almost always delayed due to its rare occurrence and its nonspecific clinical and radiological signs, thus diagnosis requires a high index of suspicion based on the co-occurrence of episodes and menstrual bleeding. This is a report of an unusual case of pleuropulmonary and endotracheal endometriosis that presented with recurrent hemothorax. Minimally invasive surgery scheduled for the days of menstruation played a major role in its diagnosis and management.","PeriodicalId":30641,"journal":{"name":"Archives of Clinical and Experimental Surgery","volume":"6 1","pages":"96-99"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70764937","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Adequate lymph node staging in patients with colon cancer is important for determining prognosis and planning further treatment. We aimed to determine what factors might predict survival in patients with right colon cancer. Methods: Between 2007 and 2014, consecutive patients undergoing operation for adenocarcinoma of the right-sided colon were enrolled in this study. The following factors were analyzed with the Cox regression model: age, gender, localization of the tumor, recurrence, pTNM stage, removed and invaded lymph node status (MLN) and survival rate. Multivariate models were used to assess the adjusted effects and to explore the interaction between survival and other factors. Results: A total of 56 (38,1%) men and 91 (61,9%) women, mean age being 61,8 ± 15,9 years, were included. The mean survival time was 46,5 ± 43,2 months. The mean LN number was 18,8 ± 9,44; MLN number was 2,66 ± 5,13. Age, total LN, MLN number and postoperative stage were significant in the univariate analysis for survival. Independent predictors of survival in multivariate analysis were age (p=0,019), postoperative stage (p=0,039), and MLN (p=0,003). Conclusions: LN metastasis is a prognostic feature in patients by means of colon cancer. It could not be changed independent of a number of prognostic factors, such as age, but LN number was dependent on operation in right colon cancer surgery. LN yields have been linked to improved survival and its determination is reliant on both the surgeon and the pathologist.","PeriodicalId":30641,"journal":{"name":"Archives of Clinical and Experimental Surgery","volume":"6 1","pages":"17-32"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70765671","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Gunshot wounds with vascular injuries have been increased among the civilian population. Lower extremity gunshot wounds have severe and acute complications of bone fractures, abundant bleeding, hypovolemic shock, soft tis sue disruption, acute ischemia, neurological deficit, limb loss, or even death. The amputation rate of the popliteal injuries differs between 27% and 54%. In this paper, preoperative management and surgical experience in the popliteal region vascular injuries in three massively impaired cases were presented. Different surgical approaches performed in these pa tients due to the variety of pathologies were also discussed.","PeriodicalId":30641,"journal":{"name":"Archives of Clinical and Experimental Surgery","volume":"1 1","pages":"1"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70765975","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They generally comprise 1–5% of all hydatid cysts. In particular, the peripheral muscles are involved. The literature states that it is seen in many parts of the body, including the iliac crest, psoas muscle, palm, and interdigital spaces. The clinical signs vary according to the involved locations, but wherever there is involvement, the lungs and liver, which are the most commonly involved sites, should be primarily investigated and diagnosed. Diagnosis should also be verified by serological and imaging methods, and it should be determined whether there is other organ involvement. Multidisciplinary management should be used for treatment of this disease. The key element of treatment is surgical. Cases of hydatid cyst with only right psoas muscle involvement are rare. We present this case report so that physicians may keep the definitive diagnosis in mind, as it is most frequently seen in the countryside in our country and it diminishes the workforce.","PeriodicalId":30641,"journal":{"name":"Archives of Clinical and Experimental Surgery","volume":"6 1","pages":"108-111"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70765280","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

He had left Bell’s paralysis for two weeks and used high diopter glasses for five years. The best corrected visual acuity was 0.4 in his right eye and counting fingers in the left eye. Biomicroscopic examination revealed thinning and steepening of the cornea in the right eye and anterior protrusion of the cornea, stromal edema and punctate disruption of the epithelium in the left eye. Topographic image of the right eye was consistent with keratoconus. Six months later, stromal edema gradually regressed and a corneal scar ensued. This case presentation emphasizes that Bell’s palsy may induce disease progression in a patient with preexisting corneal ectasia and results in corneal hydrops.","PeriodicalId":30641,"journal":{"name":"Archives of Clinical and Experimental Surgery","volume":"6 1","pages":"1"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70765566","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
